  1. Lemans I you say... [/code]
  2. I heard there was a loop in the Hard Rock. I dismissed it as an urban legend. I hope you enjoyed your visit to the US now that everything is 25% off previously marked prices. David in NYC
  3. Doc, glad to hear you are O.K. and that you invested in some quality gear. As a former skateboarder I am all too familiar with road rash. About that sidestand, was the switch disconnected or not functioning? I thought the purpose was to keep accidents like this from happening. Dw
  4. She seems to be an MV Agusta specialist, but I will ask. DW
  5. Went out for a thrash yesterday with Guzzi buddy Kevin O'Brien (KO). My subtle and cunning plan was to tempt him out with his MV Agusta F4 so I could get a ride. The Agusta proved temperamental and KO was turned loose on a loaner bike while the F$ $$$ 4$$$$ was sorted at the dealership. KO's mechanic is on top of the situation. KO turned the tables on me and got some seat time on my bike while I trailed him glumly on the Yamaha FZZZZZZZ6 the dealer foolishly lent him. I don't know if KO cracked the ton on my bike but I saw 104 on the loaner trying to keep up with him. He was all smiles when I pried the keys away from him, praising the gutsy response of the motor and the confidence inspiring handling (the choir murmurs amen). I was amazed by the 14K redline of the Yamahammer and the fantastic pull of the top end. This is a 600? Yoicks! KO commented on the vibration through the bars and demanded an immediate fix for the useless mirrors. Fortunately MG Cycle came through with a set of Napoleons. I was running errands today and they were impeccable. Good coverage and very litttle vibration blurring. Please do not bid on the '02 Le Mans bars on ebay. I saw them first and plan to fill them with birdshot as an attempt to further reduce vibration. Oh, we had a great ride to Hawks Nest and followed the Delaware river North. Very little traffic and even less cell phone reception way, way out there.
  6. For spare parts, consumables and bling bling round up a few of the usual suspects: USA: www.mgcycle.com www.mphcycles.com www.motointernational.com Europe: www.agostiniduilio.com www.tlm.nl My experiences with international ordering have been all positive. DW
  7. Paul asks: So why do you want these exhausts, there are so much makes available. Nearer to your home. From MG Cycle: Mistral mufflers for V11 Sport and V11 LeMans models. These mufflers come in carbon fiber with a round canister, carbon fiber with an oval canister, or with a round aluminum canister. Special order for titanium canisters. No drill holes, no riveted plaque, but may have a removable sticker, great sound and fit. From $525.66 (pair round aluminum) to $983.61(pair oval titanium or carbon fiber). From MPH Cycle: * Carbon Fiber Mufflers - Made in the USA by M4 High Quality thicker carbon - polished stainless end caps $795.00 per set I research my purchases fairly *exhaustively*. When a new vendor pops up I have to at least ask. The old days of big boxes from Agostini arriving monthly are gone, along with my bachelor pad in Chelsea, nights out with the guys, 18 year old scotch, Havana cigars, tickets to sold out rock shows. You get the picture.
  8. Here is a selection from airtech: www.airtech-streamlining.com But this is what I used: http://omarsdtr.com/fairings.html The 8" opening fits the Bosch headlight perfectly. Cheap? No. $159 with roll your own hardware. I still like it and plan to color match it in the future. DW

  10. I sent an email to the fellow making KTM exhausts -- V11 Sport is listed on his web page so here we go: > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "david washburn" > To: > Sent: Tuesday, June 28, 2005 11:13 PM > Subject: Moto Guzzi V 11 Sport > > > > Dear Sir, I am interested in a performance > exhaust > > for my Moto Guzzi V 11 Sport. Does this mean you will sell a Guzzi exhaust in Europe? If so, do you have a representative there? If not, would it be possible to work something out with a European Guzzi club for a short production run? David --- Marovic Gorazd wrote: > Hi again, > > please contact our representative in US. I wonder how much Carbon will be... DW
  11. Thanks for the report Bill. Let me know if you are riding this Sunday or Monday morning and I will pack my camera. DW
  12. Yours was nicer so I sold mine in despair Jason has the Eldo - V11 Sport combo platter like me so he is on the loopframe list as well as a moderator on this list. Two great lists IMHO. DW
  13. I am flogging mucho crap on ebay to finance a power commander and custom map. items in mirror no longer matter but I will probably get a set of Napoleons when I gather up enough Benjamins. 400 Euro for a Quat-D with headers? That was a dagger in the heart. No way it is in the budget I lane split too much to mount bar ends. DW
  14. The speedo cable from MG Cycle is the wrong size so I will be doing without for the forseeable future. I recovered my Lemans I homage by Omar bikini fairing from the lucky new owner of my Le Jackal project. It looks quite the biz on the Sport. My photography is improving also.
  15. From Craigslist: http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/mcy/76940408.html
  16. Thanks for all the info. The cable was lubed at the top and dry at the bottom. Probably partially seized from almost two years of sitting before purchase. It is more of a 45 degree angle coming out of the transmission so I guess I got a "new and updated" version The new cable was around $45 from MG. I will explore a warranty claim to get a spare for when the bike is out of warrranty and the thing breaks again. DW
  17. Zipping over the Queensboro Bridge this morning I glanced at the clocks to discover my speedo at a standstill. It broke its cable about two inches from the bottom. I have a new one coming from MG Cycle, any tips on lubrication? David in NYC
  18. Here is my experience: I ride the same route to work everyday. On my Jackal it was always 11.5 to 12 miles on the tripmeter. On my '04 V11: 8.5 miles. I went to work and back twice and did not crack 40 miles. This is going to kill my fuel economy David in NYC
  19. Bill Hart writes: I am so smitten with this bike i rode it to work yesterday, which is probably no big deal for most of you, All right Bill, now you are in the mix! I have been riding my Eldo to work this week (1) because I am riding it to the National this weekend but also (2) because the V11 was bringing out my inner hooligan. Useless mirrors are less of a problem for me than the upside down switches on the left bar -- the horn should be on the bottom with the turn signal above it. Nobody grabs the turn signal in an emergency! The person who thought that the turn signal woud get more use than the horn has never driven in NYC traffic. I wonder how many spine frames are riding in Manhattan. Since I got mine I have seen two Rosso Mandellos and a black V11 Sport. DW
  20. richard100t sez: I dont know if there is a specific amount of torque for those bolts. I'd say as long as it holds the oil in there you've got it tight enough lol You can torque the 6mm to that spec if you are using a beam wrench -- it's not a lot of torque and the clicker wrenches can forget to click
  21. "DW, you tell me and we'll both know." My eyes are red from looking at PDF files. It seems that Moto Guzzi no longer trusts us with things like torque charts. I blame NATO. Here is one from the golden era, 1979:
  22. While you are checking bolts for tightness...check the ones on either side that hold the motor rigid as part of the frame...mine were loose and once tightened, changed the vibration characteristics. k Hmm, verrry interesting. What was the torque spec on those frame bolts? Throttle sync A-O.K. A little off at idle, but dead on as the butterflys open. DW
