  1. Here is a photo of the bars installed on my bike - lowering the riding position.
  2. Well my Das Mototec bars arrived. It took a while. They received my wire transfer on the 9th of June and the bars arrived in California on July 3rd. The bars are as well made as anything I have seen. Very nice. After looking at the bars I've prepared the photo below to give you all an idea of what these bars can do. Alas, most of the talk here is about moving the bars up and I am moving mine down. So my photos of the installed bars aren't going to be much help to you all. But this first photo with the stock bars has been annotated with an indication of what you could get if you were going up instead of down.
  3. Is a deeper sump available for the V11? Anybody have a link? Thanks Frank
  4. I expect it will. But I Don't mind.
  5. Thanks. I've seen the valve. I'll get rid of it tomorrow. Thanks again! Frank
  6. I am wondering, what do I cap and what do I keep? My workshop manual shows the old system with the 2 canisters up near the spine. My bike has 1 canister rear of the cross over.
  7. Even with less than half a tank of gas I am getting fuel dripping out of the small line that exits at the bottom of the bike. This is the line with no clamp that comes from the barbed fitting on the left side of the spine inside the "crotch" of the tank. When the bike sits in the sun and the tank warms up I get a 8 - 10 inch fuel spot under the bike. If I open the gas cap and vent the pressure, it stops. But I don't see how I am getting the pressure in the first place. Something must be clogged. Does everybody have this happen? Frank
  8. I unscrewed the fitting at the gear box and the cable is broken about an inch above the fitting in the cable. Is this going to be one of those chronic things that we all deal, with or is this an anomaly? Thanks in advance. Frank
  9. I did a forum search for raask and didn't find anything. Has anyone heard of these? http://www.raask.se then click on "FOTPINNSATSER" and look for Moto Guzzi, at the bottom of the list. The US dealer for these. www.rearsets.info
  10. You’re right; he just polished the outer area. We took the cap off the bike and didn't even consider separating the lid from the ring. Same thing with the key flap, if you drilled into the closed end of the flap pin boss I bet you could tap it out with a pin. But I'm not sure how the mechanism that holds it open and closed works, and I'd be worried about the flap flopping around. The outer surface gave a clear break point to stop polishing. If we went inside, it looked harder to define the right place to stop. It was kind of a hassle to get this surface smooth. He had to take off quite a bit of metal and it took about 3 times as long as we thought it would, and he has a professional buffing wheel. If I had been paying him for his time I bet it would have cost $100. Lucky for me, I work on his computer, and he works on my bike. IF he has more computer problems, I’ll get the bracket over the rear master cylinder polished too. Thank you Microsoft! P.S. Regarding the deleted photos debate, you guys aren't missing anything. They really were redundant. I don't know what I was thinking when I posted them in the first place.
  11. You're right Brian, sometimes I forget that not everyone is on broadband. I've deleted the excess.
  12. I had a friend that is a metal sculptor and artist polish gas cap on my V11. If you want yours done, you can contact him at: enzometalmania@sbcglobal.net

  14. Moto Guzzi--------------------------- From: http://motoguzzi-us.com/bikes/v11naked/specs.html Maximum power: 91 hp @7800 rpm Ghezzi-Brian ------------------------ From: http://www.ghezzi-brian.com/techdata_stw.htm "Engine: Moto Guzzi 1100 V-Twin 1064 cc ; Electronic Injection ; 87 HP at 7500 r.p.m. ; Torque 9 Kgm at 6250 r.p.m." I was wondering what kind of power we are really putting out. Would many of you be able to post your dyno HP and configuration? And for Al or any of the other San Francisco Bay Area Guzzi guys, where would I go around here to have my bike tested on a dyno? Thanks, Frank
  15. These parts are refered to on page 5-51 of "Guzziology": It says "there is a lot of hidden engineering in these systems" and not to change hose diameters, or eliminate the banjo fitting. FWIW. Frank
  16. Hey that is really cool. Just when I thought I was done with my bike projects, you have set me off on another project. There goes the weekend. Frank
  17. Bagster: http://www.bagster.com/de/catalogue-zoom.p...=1407A&idprod=1 I didn't really like the look of the Bagster. (Photo from web below.) I like the tighter look of Second Look. FWIW, Thanks for pointing out Bagster though. Frank
  18. Thanks for the link. I'd go for one if they make it. If they'll promise a delivery date, I'd be willing to pre-pay too. Frank
  19. Do they have a web site where I can look at their work? Frank
  20. OK, I’ve got the unpacked cans on the bike. The db readings are 80-88db so not much louder than stock. Out on the road, you only hear the difference when you open the throttle. Then you get a throaty roar. So, overall, I’d say don’t bother with all this. If you want to hear it, you can go to: http://www.frankschaffer.name/index%2099%20mg1.htm and download stock, open pipe, and unpacked videos. Frank

  22. I just found another one. http://techlusion.com/
  23. I found a link to the "My16M" http://www.jefferies-au.org/My16M/index.htm Does anybody have links to race ecus? Also I couldn't find any threads on the My16M. Is anyone here using it? It seems to be reasonably priced at $700 Au (a little less than 500 US) Thanks, Frank
  24. I don't think 3 small holes will work. The packing is one big wad, and it is pretty dense. Frank
