Thanks for all of your suggestions - I really appreciate them and will get to work on them tomorrow. In the meantime, see the photo pasted below.

I will install heat shrink butt connectors from the stator yellow wires to the reg and report back. The stator came from Electrosport with 16GA female spade connectors, fwiw. Thanks.

The other day I ran a 10GA red wire from reg output (red) to battery +, per your suggestion in another charging thread. My problem lies elsewhere, I believe.

AC volts coming from the alternator just now are 24v at idle and 60v revved at 3K rpm. So, it would appear that the regulator is getting power from the alternator, perhaps too much power (see my OP.) Not sure if the the 12.3v DC at the battery with the engine running is what it is supposed to be. Waiting to hear from @docc on this from a few posts ago. Maybe there is an issue with the butt connectors from the yellow stator wires (output) to the yellow (input) regulator wires? Not sure how to troubleshoot that....

I don't think those bulbs are LED. I have owned the bike since February, put 7K miles on it since then, and the lamps have been functioning correctly until a week or so ago, when the charge light started coming on at 4K rpm. This is when I replaced both the stator and the regulator. After checking the DC volts at the battery this morning, and seeing the same volts (12.3) both at idle AND at 3-4K rpm, I will now look again at the stator AC output to the regulator and report back.

>Yes red frame 2001. >New regulator linked here: https://www.electrosport.com/collections/street-motorcycles-moto-guzzi-2001-v11-sport/products/esr515-regulator-rectifier-ducati-1-phase-charge-light-output >I have not installed an incandescent or halogen headlight bulb.

1) 13v 2)12.8v 3)12.3v 4)12.3v Light is off at 1,2,and 3 Light only comes on when revved to 3-4K RPM

Nope. See the suggestion from @Pressureangle a few posts above.Your input would of course be welcome as well. I have no clue!

OK thank you. As I have noted, both the regulator and stator are new from Electrosport, so it does seem unlikely that they were defective out of the box. It's going to take me a few days to troubleshoot this, as I have a bunch of other stuff getting into my schedule. Thank you again and I will perform your suggested test and report back.

Thanks and I'll need to digest all of this new information and get back here. In the meantime, this afternoon, I ran a 10GA wire from the red reg/rec output wire, directly to the battery +, bypassing the factory wiring harness aka loom. Took a quick test ride and still, the battery light went on at 4K revs, and goes out at lower revs. Also, FWIW, isn't the battery light supposed to go on when the ignition is switched on? My light doesn't do it....

Brand new reg. Any suggested fix, or should I just buy the one from Electrosport with a dedicated + wire to the battery?
-
Yes alt light turns off when revs drop below 4K
-
My new reg is the Electrosport ESR515, not hard wired to the battery. The DC volts at the battery are: >13.2-13.5 ignition off >13.0-3 ignition on >26v revved to 3-5K (this seems too high, no?)

That 30A fuse hadn't tripped, but the heat shrink looked a little bubbly, so I replaced it. Still the light comes on at 4K rpm. This is giving me fits. I think I need to check the DC voltage coming from the Regulator - haven't done that yet.... Other things that I've done, per suggestions on here: -Grounded the Voltage Regulator directly to the timing chest. Filed and put Deoxit on the connection points on engine and Reg. -Replaced all the relays with the Picker PC782-1C-12S-R-X units. Hit all the female plugs with Deoxit. -Inspected the back of the relay harness for any loose or broken wires. -LED headlight is working properly

Have been hanging out here since February - trying to learn stuff - when I bought a nice low mileage 2001 V11S. Rode 6K fun miles between then and August, with no drama, and then the charging system started acting up: first overcharging and destroying a new Odyssey battery, and now, the charging light comes on and stays on when the engine hits 4K rpm. I've been through the ten or so threads on here related to charging, and have learned quite a bit. This is forum is an amazing source of Guzzi knolwedge! So I bought and have installed a new Voltage Regulator (ESR515) and Stator (ESG814) from Electrosport. Still, the charge light comes on at 4K rpm. Put my voltmeter on AC and on the two yellow wires coming from the stator: 19v at idle/1K rpm, and 60v when revved to 3K rpm. My Workshop Manual says these AC volts should be 15v at 1K and 40v at 3K rpm. Contacted Electrosport this morning and the tech says the high voltage output from their stator is normal, and that the stator is not defective. Is the information from the tech good? If so, why does it contradict what's in the shop manual? Any thoughts or guidance appreciated!

My Quota 1100 ES is also a 2000, which I bought new in 2001. Was my exclusive ride until I bought my V11S this year! No vintage/antique MC tags available here in Colorado.
