  1. Anyone try these? Do they help the leg position much? I'm 6'2" and getting old (ill admit it) the knees are too hard on me after 30-45min, it's one of the main reasons I'm looking to sell her, just feel too tall, everything else is great, maybe there is no fixing a bike made for someone 5'8"

  2. I saw your CL ad..  mabe you should trade for my Bassa (next best thing to a 1400)?

PSH, while a nice bike I really like that cali, The griso is just too squat for me, my knees start to hurt after an hour, thinking I might just get the lower pegs and see how that goes. What I really want interim, and don't laugh, is a harley nightster 1200. I know I know 40 lashes with the whip, but I will still have my aprilia double D

  3. I don't know what I would moderate, miss the good old days (: I got so busy with work and kids I kind of lost my online self. I love the griso, but just put it up for sale, who knows maybe it won't sell and I don't want to give it away. I'll ride the wheels off till I can afford that new cali 1400 roper's been riding around the US.

  4. I'm still interested, my griso makes a great touring bike for me right now but anything outside an hour gets hard 2 up and storage is a backpack plus the smallest tank bag I've ever seen in my life, it's laughable, it holds children's sized riding gloves and sun glasses. I'd plan to just have two bikes like my griso and the cali-14 or my DD750 WHAT a bike that is, no distance machine but I have gone on a few day rides. I was sold getting a victory vision before I saw this. I also just learned victory is coming out with some more affordable and reliable Indians... not even 2 mo ago there wasn't a bike on the market I could say I wanted, now I'm in that wtf do I do now hole you've all seen me in twice, thrice? before. I'm hopeless I know

  5. Was the paint codes ever found then?

The tank is a pearl red and Ive never seen it elsewhere..

The pork chops and tappet covers are a dusty red colour which mimics an anodised finish

The tail section and sidepanels are a light grey paint

The engine and transmission is a crackle black finish,Harley do an aerosol which is very similar finish.

My bike is pretty good still but the pork chops paint is worn and the grey tailpiece has a few scuffs too now..as do the sidepanels from my leathers.

The tank is pretty good but I certain its faded a little..

that tank color is ... GOOD FN LUCK is all I got to say it's like a green metallic base with candy red over it, something like that so that it almost appears orangish in the sun, I don't know how they did it but matching that rosso tank is tough I noticed on the one I had the underside had some green metallic overspray maybe they just took the green tanks they already had from the V11's and figured out which paint overspray them that fancy red.

  6. I don't know what the previous owners did(there was 2) but the clutch action is about 3mm from all the way out which feels wrong to me, some love that style of clutch setting as they feel it's quicker and easier but I've found it harder on my hands in traffic than closer in and gripping the clutch to the bar then letting it out a little to go, preference I'm sure, maybe I could get used to this as it doesn't seem to slip at all

  7. I will try to adjust mine a little, I'd like to get some nice ASV levers later, love those levers, just feel nice and the adjustments are great, or rol-a-click if I have to slum it I guess but no hurry, I'll wait till the mood strikes me or I find a nice set on ebay, has anyone tried the 1in lower pegs? any info on them as in do they really help or not? I'm 6'2"

  8. I'd like to bring the clutch engagement in closer to the bar as it's almost entirely out and in traffic it seems a lot harder on the hands, if no adjustments can really be made other than the little adjuster on the lever I'll just deal with it.

From memory there are three adjustments to clutch operation at the lever. There is the obvious span adjuster and also a couple of screws. I have used them to reset the clutch operation. It's midnight now and I need to put the bike and bits away, so I'll post photos of the lever screws tomorrow.

sweet, thank you, I look forward to the pics and hopefully some direction on how to reset the clutch actuation

  10. Ha, lots of us still come in for the pickins and snippets of great info. Like most vultures tending to hang quiet overhead till triggered into action by some opportunity. Welcome back DeBen great site this. Has a lot of humans I wouldnt mind meeting on the road. Heres a question for you long term guys, as a latecomer here (2008) I get the Italian number one but what is with the tree stumps on the signatures? JRT has one and Heli Jim has a forest. What gives?

Congrats on the greaser, heres my scoot on the road. Cheers

we used to have a weekly quiz of "name that motorcycle" and some were so obscure after a few weeks and everyone throwing up their hands, I awarded a stump, only the most heartless diabolic minds were awarded such a point. The other two points were bodge points the golden bodge is for thoroughly embarrassing yourself and others with an honest statement so dumb the only winning move was to get a golden bodge and move on, the literal bodge would be fixing something with duct tape, a hacksaw, or JB weld, whatever.

  11. well I'm not going to say the ST2 ran rough in the heat, stalled out in the cold, and leaked oil from multiple locations I presume as delivered new from the dealer, at least the V11 took 6 years and 20k to weep a leak on the timing cover, but I'm not about to get into all that this isn't the place, crap I've said to much, anyone have the time?

  12. it's deff the phase sensor, attempted fix 1 didn't work now to try the backup plan, slather the sensor in high temp sealant and shove it in.

also I noticed the rear end has a weep to it somewhere, damn bike. not too worried just annoyed, love the ride too much to stay mad at her anyway.

  13. Hi Jrt, are you saying noone uses this board or the two listed above?

Still a lot of visitors (over 400 pageviews a day according to Google Analytics) but not that many writers. :oldgit:

I can try and help fix that a little, the resources on this forum are really valuable, the talking maybe not as much but then how fun is that?

  14. Great Ben! I'll be watching the roads for you.. do you need help doing that gasket? my Lemans spews a little mist, I "think" it's from the timing cover but isn't bad enough to want to fix it yet.

pete said its probably the phase sensor and that does appear to be where its coming from, hard to get at but east to fix, he suggested some locktite gasket making sealant, I could probably use an extra set of hands to get at it, kinda glad its not a timing cover gasket and can't wait to get some miles on this girl.
