1. I've been wanting to change my fork oil for a while now. My ? is in my owners manual theres a nut on one end of the wheel & a spindle on the other. My bike has no nut & spindle setup. I havent touched the thing yet so no harm done. Does the axle just slide out once all the screws & calipers are removed?

  2. Yes, Tim, Please? (As to not waiting for changes, hmmm- ordered Staintunes, Stucchi X-ver, Argal adjustable foot controls, a PCIII and a set of Williamsville risers). The stock seat is suprisingly comfortable. I don't ride at night so the HID headlight thing is not high on my list, and everything else that comes with the bike looks pretty good right out of the box.

BTW, there is a steering damper, it's hidden behind the faring.

Also looking for 3M or equivalent transparent film to use as a tank protector, since the fake carbon fibre ones are not my cup of tea. Does anybody make transparent ones that are pre-cut for the Guzzi tank? (It's easy enough to get it made by an installer, but that means I've got to get the bike to some godforsaken place in New Jersey...).

    Thanks, all. :luigi:

Yes there are some threads for the clear tank protectors here somewhere...I'll take a look. Just use the search & type in tank bra or tank protector. There are several links to different websites to get that product

  3. He's one of us !!

Whart..  I've got the FBF kit on my bike..  I think it looks great, but I've got my doubts about the daytime brightness of the taillight..  I wish it was a bit brighter.

Lemme know if you want me to post a photo.

    Cheers, Tim

    50072

Post the photo Tim :!:  I have the tekno bag setup on my bike, but I may be willing to switch if its pretty enough

  4. Thanks for the break-in advice. Aggressive throttle is not a problem, it's the rev limit (5k RPM for the first 1,000 km, then 6k RPM for another thousand km, according to the booklet) that i seem to reach pretty quickly, necessitating upshifts sooner than i'd like. Where does this motor stop making power/torque curve?

    50070

I observed the 5000rpm limit my first 1000 miles. Then I changed the oil & let er rip. Oh yeah I adjusted the valves etc too. I'd say it pulls VERY hard up to somewhere in the 7000 range.

  5. I stopped in at Speakers Cycles in Steubenville today & Jason fixed me right up  He hooked the bike up to his computer, put it on the mercury stick, adjusted the tps, & a few other things lol. Anyway the bike runs great now :!: :race: This should hopefully end this thread for me :sun: Now all I need is some better weather to ride in. Its good to have a good dealer within riding distance :notworthy:

  6. What an interesting ride! The bike was delivered to my house late this afternoon (along with a Vespa for my wife- damn that Schedoni saddle is gorgeous) and I couldn't wait to go for a ride. I started working from home this morning at about 6a.m., and was going non-stop, on the phone, email, document changes, etc until 4pm, when- it just so happened that my work came to a logical stopping point as the truck/trailer pulled in the drive.

I couldn't resist taking it out- although the rain threatened. (We've had serious electrical storms, and some torrential rain/strong winds interspersed with bright sun for the past 5 or so days, very unpredictable weather here).

The bike is suprisingly maneuverable despite its size, slipped into gear smoothly and delivered power on take-off from a standing start without a hiccup. As I was motoring (in the best British sense) down my road -a 20mph speed trap running along the Hudson River, I could feel the pull and tug of the bars and thought- uh-oh, maybe the steering damper is misadjusted, something feels out of alignment. My road is a horrible combination of potholes and poorly patched troughs for gas lines, etc. that was repaved with a "skim" surface a few days ago. What i was feeling was the road! (I guess i got so used to that magic carpet ride on the Harley, or being jostled on the Ducati so much that i couldn't feel what was actually happening with the tires).

Passed thru the little town of Piermont- a town they said they had to "spruce up" to make it look like the Great Depression for a movie some years ago, and opened it up on the two laner heading out of town.

Even with the stock pipes, a gnarly growl, accompanied by the thrum of the engine at my knees. More power, then upshift, since the bike has virtually no miles and i want to ease it in properly. The bike begs to be leaned, the gear spacing will probably be great once i can rev to the line, but since i'm taking it easy, i'm probably shifting more than i need to, to keep the revs in line. Once on smooth tarmac the thing is a joy. What a great combo of comfy cruiser/sportsbike.

Pretty noticeable vibration thru the bars at standstill- i assume once the bike is broken in it will smooth out. It's also absolutely gorgeous! Pics to come. I can't wait to get back on it, but the rain is coming, it will be dark soon, and tomorrow is another day....

Welcome aboard Whart :!: :mg: Yes the bike will get better/smoother everytime you ride it. Just wait until you get the suspension set just to your liking :race: You'll never be without a Guzzi again

  7. OH no no no nono I got first dibs on a Carbon chin pad from a previous thread I started asking about'em Unless you beat me to it  , I called they are $400 large  <_ i about shat myself also tank pad hows this one cost me uh think know there is some place out that sells carbon fiber ones but almost went with a clear b4 the dealer whipped thing said why not src="%7B___base_url___%7D/uploads/emoticons/default_knownothing.gif" alt=":huh2:">

    :mg:

I like that tank pad. Do you remember what brand it is?

  8. sweet mirrors, but don't think they would look good on mine without a flyscreen.  I like a lower profile mirror (none if I could) on the naked.

    49979

I agree with you that no mirrors at all make the bike look much better. However I think the law requires them here in Ohio, or at least one mirror anyway. Still these mirrors hardly vibrate wich is a huge improvement. I wanted the circuit 851's but I got a great deal on these.

  9. I kinda like the Mirrors I have to admit not really my cup of Tea but you Have to lose that silly tank pad and get something respectalble.

    49974

Its just as good as gone Ben. Actually the thing is starting to come off on its own. I'll have to find a cool one to buy (any suggestions anyone?)

  10. Hi guys,

I have been lurking about here for quite a while. perhaps some of you might remember me from a few messages i have exchanged.

I remember for isntance this guy in america who builds home made saddles just for the v11.

Anyway, to cut this short, i might have to ride my ducati st4 from rome to milan next week to swap it for a V11 Le Mans 2004 with just short of 1k miles on its tacho.

Wish me luck guys. WHen I bougth the st4 everybody told me hell about ducatis. I never experienced a single problem, except regular maintenance that bike just treated me so well. I would miss it if this is going to be carried out. The bike has quite some punch in it's 4 valves demsoed engine. It wheelies real easy even for a slow rider like me.

The v11 has been a dream bike for me for the last 4 years, just like the st4 was. Now i might have found the chance to get one.

So wish me luck. Am i going to have to have a huge wallet for the mechanics? i thought guzzi engines shouldn't be that difficult to fix for regular mechanics. ducati bikes need specific tools to play around mechanic with it. I thought guzzi have more simple engines.

    Anyway, please wish me luck!

Hey we love new converts! :mg:

  11. I put the right hand mirror on today! I couldnt get that allen head screw out on the clamp so I took off the windscreen & brake fluid reservoir. If I had known it were so easy I'd have done it that way the first time. I'll post the photos soon. The new mirrors blend right in with the bikes lines...theyre invisible from the side view. From the front they look pretty cool though. Oh well I'll have pics maybe tomorrow.

  12. I got a pair of Rizoma's for my bike yesterday. They look really cool, but beware! The mirrors are so small that they may not even be safe  I rounded the allen head on the right hand mirror clamp :homer: You have to take the clamp off the bike then put the mirror on the clamp, then reattach the clamp to the bike. As soon as I get the right side mirror on the bike I'll post some pics. :pic: Gawd forbid I cant get that allen screw out :!: I'd have to remove the windscreen & maybe the brake fluid reservoir to get that mirror on. Oh well the weather sucks here anyway so I'm carbound for a while.

  13. Oh, I'm sure they would.

If that were his last resort, then I'd concur... just ship the parts.

But I know I like to actually talk with the folks working on stuff like this, so I'd feel a little iffy just dropping it in the mail.  Plus, I'm sure that somewhere in his neck-o-the-woods there has got to be an A+ MC painting shop.

Now, what is going to be hard is duplicating the Copa paint scheme without an example on-hand for them to examine, scan for a paint match, etc.  Photos will be difficult to reproduce accurately in real-life, and the colors used will have to be a guess.

Hmm I think I'd go with the place you like Al. If anyone would know who could do a good job you would. Plus shipping is a nominal cost.

  14. Yup.  Rizoma "Reverse" mirors.  They sent me a pair of the bare aluminum for free until they can get the black ones in from Italy (been waiting 4 months!).  I'm trying to completely "black out" the bike (will ceramic coat flat black the Quat-D when headers arrive).

    49573

Those look pretty cool :!: I just got a pair of Rizoma "Invidias" on ebay for $130. I wanted the polished aluminum 851's but the Invidia's were "buy it now" at $130 & I couldnt pass it by. I'll post a photo of them on my bike when I get them, should be early this week.

  15. Well, after following Carl's fun filled adventure repairing his V11 Sport that looked to be similarly "lightly" damaged, I don't know about trying to repair the following bike without a whole lot of very close inspection.

But, it does seem to be "going for cheap", and is listed without a reserve.

If you are near Portland, Oregon, or wouldn't mind having it shipped, it might be a good source of parts for everything from an Ohlins rear shock, to the 2003+ in tank fuel system... not to mention the potential for a mostly pristine engine/transmission with the 2003 improvements  :huh2:

Anyway, it's early in the auction, but it's only up to about $1100 so far for the whole bike.

I guess the ranks of Rosso Corsas in North America just got reduced by about 5%.

.... I wonder if the owner was ever on the forum?

It looks like the front forks are ok too. Those are pretty pricey

  16. Well I wasn't able to find a specific map yet anyone know of one let me know I plugged in the PCIII and it seems to run a lil smoother I only went around the block I got my wisdom teeth out today(all 4) and I'll figure if its really better later. I'm eyeing up Manley Cycle to have a Dyno run done.

    49507

Omg my condolences Ben  I've had my wisdom teeth done. Dont worry you'll be better...in a week. Did it feel like this guy :luigi: was your dentist?

  17. We have an excellent shop out here, Cycle Finish, but that unfortunately doesn't help you any

I'd find a local MC club/forum, and post the same question.  I'm sure there is a good shop within driving distance.

I dont know Al. UPS would gladly send his tank there wouldnt they? lol

  18. Has any other manufacturer made a Magni type fairing? I'd like a Lemans fairing for my Rm but I'll bet the cost is very prohibitive. Plus you need to change the clip ons & some cable lines need to be longer?

  19. Richard100T:  There is a monthly breakfast in Lisbon Ohio.  Third sunday of every month at 9:00 am.

There is also one on the 1st sunday in a different town, but I forget where.  Maybe somone else can help?
