1. Ok I've had it with all this snow and ice crap. I want to f&*^@$# RIDE the Guzzi in the garage! I'm thinking of assassinating that filthy rodent in Punxsutawney.

Sorry.........had to vent

I hear you man :!: I'm right down the road from you here in Ohio & I cant wait to get my Rosso out. I just bought it last friday & rode it home on Superbowl Sunday. Now it just sits in the garage teasing me. :P I keep checking the weather channel lol but it does no good

2. :luigi: How many people would buy an aftermarket 4 valve head kit with all the other parts that would need to go with it, for a 120 rwhp v11? How much I wonder would we be willing to pay for that kind of performance? Lets say it was $5000 usd Who would go for it?
3. Yeah, I've got 13K miles on  my Rosso (#049) and I still love it. K&Ns, Stucchi x-over, Mistral pipes, PCIII, etc. For anyone who cares about such things, of the 300 numbered RMs, I heard that 63 had been sold in the US as well as another 20 of the un-numbered "extra" limited edition ones. I saw some RMs in Japan and was told that only un-numbered models were brought in to that country. I have been compiling a list of VINs for the numbered Rossos. Here's what I have so far (send me an e-mail: clevenson2@aol.com if you'd like to add your numbers to the list):

Theres mine! #74

4. I'm surprised you weren't hit with 20 options on where to get oil filters. Lots of good choices. I get the OEM filter from MG Cycle. I recommend MG Cycle for anybody without a local Guzzi shop.

If you bike is under warranty running the UFI part could save you some frustration if you have a problem.

Thanx for the link Lex  My bike is a 2001 so its out of warranty, but it only has 400 miles on it so its still in the break in period.

5. There are no new Rosso Corsa left in the  system crated or uncrated. If a dealer has one I dont know.

I was told MG sold 1100 bikes in the usa  in 2004

Try CycleTrader.com if you want a new Rosso Corsa. Theres a new 03 in California, and an 04 in Atlanta. Those are the ones I know of

6. Outside temp: not much! Obviously if you're racing or the temps are seriously cold, but for most street riding in the "comfortable" range of 50-100deg F, there's not going to be any changes to your tire pressures. That's why you check them cold, because once they're rolling the tire generates heat from friction and the pressure rises slightly. The standard technique for determining your correct pressure is to check it cold, ride it like you normally would & check it hot. If the pressure change is near 10% of the starting pressure [ie, 36psi cold, 40psi hot], you're on the money. Obviously, if you're looking for maximum mileage from the tire, you're going to run'em a bit "hard", since that will decrease rolling resistance, tire heating, etc.

There's another approach for finding your pressure: Look at the tire's max load & pressure [this is molded into the sidewall of every tire.] Let's say you have a 420# front & 580# rear rating, at 40 & 46 psi respectively. Take the all up wt. of your bike & you & gear, in this case, we'll use numbers for a Ballabio & a normal sized male w/ a hottie pillion: 550#+210#+115# = 875#. We'll credit the Ball'o w/ a 45/55 wt. distribution, so that's 394# front & 481# rear.

394/420*40psi = 37.5psi

481/580*46psi = 38psi

Www-BAM! There's your starting #s! Since I'm a lazy bodger, I don't bother fiddling around with things more than that: if I'm taking a heavier passenger, unless its on a long ride, then they get the standard inflation. Same goes for a lighter one.

Ride on!

:race:

42878

Thanx for the info : ) I went with 35 & 36 psi front & rear. What a difference! Its been 8 years since I've owned a bike. it rides so much better I didnt want to put it away. Too bad its cold & wet here, plus I dont have a licsence plate yet either lol :mg:

7. I just check my tires pressure on Storms advice. Gues what...theres 15lbs in the front & the rear :homer: ! No wonder the bike rides so hard lol. Btw Storm, did your Rosso come stock with Bridgestone Battlaxes? Thats what mine has...I figured they would come with Pirellis :huh2:

8. Richard,  for the squirrelly front end -- check tire air pressure...I use 34psi front and 37 psi rear, and loosen the steering damper to the point that you can't tell it is there...check the motor mount bolts and make sure they are tight.  :luigi:

Steering lock...fork to left, jiggle while pushing down...be careful not to leave the parking lights on  :homer:

The only "factory issued" scratches were caused by fork lock to lock when the gas tank wasn't "just so"...fixed it with very small, flat rubber bumpers (okay, with my bicycle tire kit, I wasn't riding the bicycle anyway) and a Guzzi tank bag.  All other scratches, smudges, scuffs were self-inflicted...but bug smash seems to cover most pretty well.  :race:

If you pull the pan to clean the screen when you change the oil, you'll be able to get at the filter without the special tool.

For cold weather, I added grip warmers (which also help a little with the vibration), but at 40 degrees or below, I'm still looking for coffee shops at regular intervals.  Cylinders will warm your legs a bit if you move up close, though.

Enjoy.  k  :mg:

42730

Hey Storm, thanx for the useful info! I'm going to check the tires now. Thats a relief about the oil filter too. Btw what kind of filter do you use? Weather permitting I'll have 1000 miles on it eventually lol :race:

9. I got the bike out today & spent about ten minutes on it. Too bad I wanted more :!: Well I figured out the steering lock :luigi: Man that clutch rattles in neutral :!: I hope/guess thats normal though. Like just about everyone else I need to fix the vibes in the bars. I think just some bar weights & sponge grips should be enough for my taste. Btw Where should I go to get an oil filter for the bike? Online aftermarket site? Well next time I'm going to adjust the clutch lever handle. Later gaters :bier:

10. Love the torque :mg: The front end feels a little squirrelly <_ can anyone tell me how to get the steering lock work i have a lot more initial observations but superbowl is getting in my way lol else notice scratch under seat toward tank end mine has one src="%7B___base_url___%7D/uploads/emoticons/default_bbblll.gif" alt=":bbblll:"> Hmm I need to know where to get a tool for the oil filter thing :rasta: It seems to be a great cold weather bike for the small fairing. I cant wait for the warm weather :!: Oh well thats all I can remember right now, catch ya later! Richard

11. Hey everyone, I'm a 36 y/o guy in the Ohio Usa area. I just bought a Rosso Mandello, I love to ride & this is my first Guzzi. :mg: I'm picking it up tomorrow am. I hope I dont freeze my hands off getting it home! Its a 60 mile trip in 45 degree weather so it shouldnt be too bad. I just love the look of Italian bikes & I bought this one without even riding it! As it only has 315 miles on it I wasnt worried about it being worn out :!: Btw I just love this emoticon :notworthy: I laughed my @$$ off the first time I saw it. I was wondering if there is a subscription fee for this site to be a Goldmember? If someone could let me know about that I'd appreciate it, as this is a valuable site for Guzzi owners I would like to support it. :helmet: Well if theres anyone else from around the Ohio area let me know! We can all hook up & go riding :race: OK talk to all of you again soon..... Richard

12. that's right!... I almost forget....the "council" -_-

first you have to spin the council wheel!!

OoH,... looks like, your first assignment is to...wrestle the Rhinestone Cowgirls

(that's a Roller-Derby team, they're from Austin btw...and, that's the Alamo behind them :) )

Good Luck!!

42586

Thank you again! lol Maybe I should wait until after I bring the bike home tomorrow to spin the wheel & or try on some red wings :food:

13. Oh boy, the Magni is what I really want! I'll have to save some big cash though. Its about $1600 :homer:

14. Congrats Richard   Now let me rain on your parade   Has your bike had the trans recall work done ? Also some of the Rosso's were affected by the rod bolt recall too.  The single plate clutch is something to keep an eye on also.  However I don't think anyone in NA has had the clutch go south  :huh2: This model is also prone to flaking engine paint .

Some people opted for $750 worth of accesories instead of having the cases replaced. Do you know what Lora did ?  Maybe Todd will answer this , but I believe you can still have the trans & rod bolt recall work done at the factory's expense since this was NHTSA recall.  You'll need the VIN # to see if your' bike is affected .

42522

I know she had the tranny recall done. You know Lora? Moto Guzzi owners must be a tight community!

15. Welcome Richard. Just out of interest what made you go for the Rosso Mandello?

42516

Well...it was (is) brand new. Also it was located within 100 miles. That and aside from maybe the rosso corsa its the best looking Guzzi I've seen. I've never ridden a Guzzi before, guess I'll have a try at it this weekend when I bing it home!

16. Hello everyone, this is my first day on the site :!: I'm the new owner of a Rosso Mandello #74 Does anyone else here own one? I'd love to hear from others with the same bike. Btw mine only has 315 miles on it as I write this! Once I pick it up this weekend & the weather warms up though there will be lots of miles enjoyed on it I hope. :mg:
