  1. I have an older PC on my EV. A few years ago, I had the exact trouble you describe. During a trip to the Kentucky rally, it became so bad it was pucking raw gas out the exhaust. I figured out what it was!!!! I was turning the "choke " lever (actually a fast idle lever) before I was turning on the key. The power commander was setting O with a partially open throttle, or some such evidently. Ever since I realized what was going on, I allways turn on the key, listen to the fuel pump pressurize, then move the choke lever. I have not had a problem since. I am still using the same PC and have never had it fail. My discovery/explanation is a partial assumption on my part. Perhaps Todd can shed some light. What I can say for sure is that since I changed my starting proceedure, it has been fine. Zoom Zoom, John Henry
  2. The gal in Roxette was pertty hot too. I can't remember her name, but I guess someone here does. Zoom Zoom, John Henry
  3. Terry, I'm shocked. You didn't take me anywhere that they tested the temp of the beer like that before serving it when I was there earlier this month. All I got was a flying squirrel and a moose named Bullwinkle. Zoom Zoom, John Henry
  4. John, I would be cautious about depending on the tail piece supporting anything, even with formed foam on it. I have heard that piece is very expensive. Zoom Zoom, John Henry
  5. After getting my LeMans, I purchased a new filter and took it to the parts store. The flutes are different on several brands of filters. As a result, The store carries filter removers, (not a wrench. You have to use a 3/8 ratchet), that are set up for differrent filters. I got on that works perfectly for $3.00. I have allways used the UFI filters. The outside of the spark plug wrench in the tool kit will work on the manhole cover. If you have never had the pan off, I would recomend you do so. Have a spare gasket handy so you can replace the original if it breaks. It is important to check the filter screen, (pre filter), once in a while. At least so you have a starting point. When reinstalling the pan, coat the top of the gasket, the side toward the engine, with dielectric grease, aka silicone grease, aka plumbers grease. It's cheap. The next time you feel the urge to remove the pan, the gasket will come off with the pan and can be reused. It wont leak and unless you tear it, it will be fine. I have over 61,000 on my EV and only replaced the original pan gasket. Zoom Zoom, John Henry

    The pics:

I have noticed the pics. The Coppa Italia with the LeMans faring is fantastic looking. Now, am I missing something on how to comment on the pics? I tried my normal log on and it didn't work. Does that require registering seperatly for that page? Thanks. Zoom Zoom, John Henry Edited: Yes, to comment on the pics require additional registration. I figured it out.
  7. J, that was two lives ago. I was a railroad employee. Raced a steam hammer. After that, I led a life as a race horse. Raced other race horses. Lately, I do fone stuff. Not as fun as it used to be but hey, it's a living. Man, I miss those green Kentucky pastures....... Lounging in the sun........ Zoom Zoom, John Henry
  8. Hi Folks. I have allready posted a couple of things here. I was browsing around and thought I might give some here an introduction. I have a 2001 EV with now 55,000+ miles on it. With that paid for and many more happy miles still ahead, I was in the financial position to be able to get the LeMans I recently bought. When young, I rode my friends mini bikes and then MX bikes. My dad was in the insurance business and would not let me get my own motorcycle. I did however, ride friends bikes, both on the street and in the dirt. My interest gravitated toward cars and ended up purely by accident getting into Cougars. I have had two Eliminators and a couple of XR7's, all late 60's early 70's cars. A '68 Torino GT Fastback and a '73 Mach 1 factory 4 spd round out the cars. The latest ride is an '03 WRX. What a car!!! I guess about 7 years ago now, I finally got interested and got a bike, A CL350 Honda Scrambler. Graduated to a CB 550K Honda. I still have both. I purchased the EV in Feb. 2001 and suddenly began neglecting my other hobby of radio control model airplanes. You noticed the miles on the EV, right. I enjoy riding whenever possible. When the current LeMans hit the floor, so did I. I just couldn't afford one with the new EV. Well, here we are now. Cash back on left overs and 1.9 financing and a paid for EV. No regrets. Some will know me from the Topica board, which I rarely frequent, and WildGuzzi. The tag line I use was a result of someones post of "I hate my Guzzi", which resulted in a birrage of replies titled "I love my Guzzi". After being entertained for nearly a week, I finally replied to that post. I simply said "When I get on my Guzzi and start it, it puts a smile on my face and I think about the kid in the Mazda commercial who looks over his shoulder and says Zoom Zoom. Short and sweet. I install and service Key systems and PBX systems for the wireline side of Alltel. I have been in the fone business for 30 ,(oh my God), years. I hope I get a chance to meet some of you at the Guzzi Rallies! Zoom Zoom, John Henry
  9. thanks to all for the info. Big J, I was just trying to understand the differences. In any event, either model year can certainly exceed my capabilities. I only know that when the latest LeMans came out, I wanted one. I couldn't do it before now because I just bought the EV. I have a love afair going with that bike. Now I have this fiesty new Italian beauty to cheat with. As good as the Tonti is, The LeMans is all that and more. It's simply a blast to ride. Man, I hope the EV can't get jealous. I guess they are like Lays potato chips. Betcha can't have just one! Zoom Zoom, John Henry
  10. A short time after getting my LM, I noticed there was no adjustment for compression. Looking in the manual, there is indication that it should have been there. Jason over at Speakers Cycle looked into it and said that is how it is supposed to be. Someone at the National said the same thing. Reference was made to fork diameter and such. If I understand it all, the forks are a larger diameter on the '03 with a pre load adjustment and rebound adjustment. No compression adjustment. I just kid of wondered if anybody knows the pros and cons of the change and before the change. Marzocchis. Zoom Zoom, John Henry
  11. Yep, that was me that Terry was refering to. Boy, this is a bit differrent than the Cali. Oh well, ya live, ya learn. That's the price you pay for something as good looking as a LeMans. I can't wait until I have enough miles on the clock to open it up. It is a blast to ride. Zoom Zoom, John Henry
