  1. I suspect BigJ is the closest, as I think it is the same engine as the flying eight. But no coconut so far. m
  2. This is such a gorgeous machine I had to give you two looks at it. Point for manufacturer. Point for engine manufacturer. Clues: it's not a Brough (or Superior) or NUT or Dene. Even more interesting news once we have a winner.... mike
  3. Well, you have to define "better" but, if you mean faster and more competitive racing, then you need a Rossi. Although it's him rather than the Yamaha (allegedly) that people are trying to beat, that is the impetus for the other teams to improve their performance. If it is him rather than the machine, then you can be certain that Yamaha are working their fingers to the bone to give him extra leeway. m
  4. I wasn't talking about Hayden but Stoner. For some bizarre reason, I thought you were Australian when I was writing that post. My apologies. m
  5. Not to mention being stronger, weight for weight. Oh, and easily repairable. They are a bugger to clean, though.... In the UK, there are (AFAIK) no legal standards for spoked wheels. For cast, there are requirements for the metals used, the casting process, the machining, not to mention design. m
  6. "Old style" tyres have been difficult to get hold of for a few years. I always have to order tyres for my small block machine; they are never in stock. If it's not lowprofilestickyrubberlatestname, it is time to think ahead for when you will need the next one. m
  7. It wasn't that. It was a boring track. Only the midfield action was worth watching, although your compatriot put up an excellent show. Looking forward to more action from him as the season progresses. m
  8. Check post 2 8-) Still looking for confirmation of the advertising slogan. In which case, it's all mine. Bwahahahahah!!!!!
  9. The New wonder Motorcycle or British built to British ideals? Those are the only ones I have been able to find so far.
  10. Polypropylene has been long touted as virtually indestructable. If it has failed at four years, it's a manufacturing fault unless it has been obviously abused. Try a friendly word with the national importer, followed by some words with your national selling standards agency. Seems to me they would be happier replaciing one tank than _all_ of them..... mike
  11. Look at post 21.....
  12. I had a car gearbox on the rack of an MZ once. _Tremendous_ sphincter strengthener. Everyone should do it once. m
  13. Except for watching Hopkins(?) kicking seven bells out of his broken down Suzuki. Basil Fawlty lives on.........
  14. Has this been pointed? Still not had time to look up the full answer.....
  15. In _Chesham_ ??? He's going to get an ASBO (Antisocialbehaviour order) just for _owning_ it, never mind using.... 8-)))
  16. Not an ambulance, more likely an emergency response vehicle, to get a paramedic to the incident quicker. Even with a Ural (they have come on in great steps in the last decade, mind) you will get through traffic and urban areas quicker than with a 3ton box on wheels. There are a few based on PanEuropeans around here. mike
  17. Got a decent pic of the bike behind?
  18. I'm on the wrong forum. Five and a half years and no fine. Which seems rather odd...... m such a _nice_ boy....
  19. Got it. I'll fight you for the shaftie.... 8-))) Some magnificent machines on there. I've seen a few in real life and they are made to a very high standard. So who gets what points?
  20. I suspect European, from the markings - maybe Swiss. No sign of anything, though. m
  21. Why Aye. Ran out of time last night to go book-looking and I will not be home for about another 10 hours at the moment, so this one is wide open. m
  22. Looks like some BMW-powered PHASAR derivative ambulance/emergency response vehicle.
  23. I'm sure Cyril used it and got pulled almost immediately. Nowt in Gurgle, so I'll have to (gasp!) look in a book when I get home. m
  24. Company and model but not the name. But it's your point to do with as you wish.
