    well, one can always move to Norway. ok, we have oil, but over here the price of a new breva is 30000 dollars, one beer will cost you seven and a half dollars, and the ice bears do NOT roam the streets cause the streets are already packed with jugoslavian mafia... did I mention that my Ti-pipes cost me 2500 dollars? (bad day today)

  5. not surprised at all that they dont announce a new sportsbike. They have struggled for ...three? four?... years to get the Breva and Griso into production from the design proposals. The Griso isnt in the shops yet (even though I saw one in the weekend going through Tuscany, half drunk on brilliant wine) At Mandello, the staff number are 20% of what they were seven to ten years ago and the people of Mandello in general have lost belief that that MG will survive. now they need to hype and hardsell the Griso and Breva for a couple of years, make money and integrate and develop their organisation closer with the Aprilia-group. y'all know that Guzzi dont even have online-tracking of stocks and orders?! the parts department is run by two sicilian nuns (...or something) who carefully adresses every fax/mail with beautifully handwritten letters... they have a looong way to go before they can handle one or two more modern hitech models in the lineup. its no, big smooth international operation like Ducati. that they even managed to develop these two bikes is close to a miracle (look what happened to Laverda fabulous 1000SFC from five years back; a slow death). so, what I think we should do as fans is to talk up the Breva and Griso. Even if we dont want one ourselves (I just miiiight want a Griso, in red) we should persuade others to venture into the Guzzism, rather than diss the bikes just because they dont look like V11s. Loads of sold Brevas (instead of BMW R1150Rs) make it more likely that we get a new V11.....and no earlier than 2007, is my guess....
  6. the frame braces looks like they can provide some needed stiffness, but probably not stop the frame from flexing sideways? or what? this must surely be an idea that someone can pick up on, and reconstruct the items? and then send them to me?? for free???
  7. this highlights the difference between cats'n dogs... if I tried that with my jet black minileopard it would have slit my throat. not because the cat hated the ride, but because it would want to drive the bike for itself.

  9. YESSS! my MG titans are delivered and ready to be picked up at my dealer. 14 weeks delivery time. Not bad. Hope they come without creases... gulp As far as I am concerned this is the coolest exhausts right now, even though I havent heard them yet..harrrharrrharrr Now I know what to do in the weekend. Scaring small animals and women in my neighborhood.
  10. I´ve picked up some hints that the Mondial break-in wasn't necessarily done by your regular bike burglar... that the factory was very close to go into receivership when it was, perhaps, conveniently raided. Ugly rumours, of course. But thats what we thrive on...

  14. Went for a good drive yesterday, in cloudy chilled and moist autumn weather (not rain). Machine started and went well for 5-7 minutes, then stalled in rush traffic. When started again, the right cylinder wouldnt come out to play. It spluttered into life now and again. After a cooling break I cleaned the plug and adjusted the gap (on the plug, not my own gap...). the plug was seriously soiled, with a lot of coal on it. Then the bike started perfectly, went well again for about fifteen minutes. When dropping down below 3000 rpm in tight traffic, the cylinder died again. It woke up above 4000 rpms, which was interesting when 60 or more hps arrived quite suddenly. 2 kms from home it died for good, and I limped home. Of course I'll be changing the plugs. But is there anything else I should check? To me, this seems like something more than just the plug? Someone mentioned that I should change to slightly "hotter" plugs, is that a good idea? Where I live, in the middle of the city, its inevitable that I get stuck in traffic in the start and end of each trip. Low rpms and idling for about fifteen mins... Anything I could do to adapt the bike to this?
  15. difficult to say, but its better the more aggressive I drive. It dont much care for cruising and long sweepers

Slight warning. up here in the cold north we have had loads of problems with VERY cheap pattern tyres made in the deep east. both on bikes and cars. the rubber compound and construction in these are often lowgrade and makes the tyre do all sorts of strange things; like skid, melt, shear, blow up and other charming behaviour. they do not work properly at "normal" temperatures. prices on these are so low (30-40% of normal brand tyres) that that alone should trigger the alarm. On heavy bikes like ours its important to go for proven stability. Be aware!! parallell subject again...doh...sorry...

  18. this thread is getting interesting. the wandering, wobbling and hunting is all there on my bike too. its nervous, even though i tamed it a bit by loosen up on the damping. ridges and potholes, especially in the beginning of a curve, knocks it off line. its unstable at turn-in. and it runs wiiiide if i dont use brute force to keep it in line. brute force means hangout-style, heavy engine braking at turn-ins and excessive countersteering. and i am a relaxed driver, no racer. is it supposed to be this way?? (My wifes ultrashort Laverda 668 is a beacon of stability and easy handling in comparison.) i thought this was one of the exciting "special features" of the bike, but after 2000 kms on it i dont know. something might be wrong. tyres are quite new BT 020s, the bike has only run 9000 kms (4000 miles?). i am planning ohlins-upgrades on suspension, maybe 5,5" rim in the back to get the right tyre profile etc... but first: those bleeched pork chops might be hiding someting from me....

  20. sloshed pilots make for exciting journeys... back to Breva: what I humbly think most Guzzists react to, is that the Breva isnt squarely aimed at the totally religious. Its mainstream. Smoothed out. Better in the flesh though. Hopefully it will sell, also to customers outside the fraternity, and MG will give us a roaring monster in return someday. now...wheres my bottle opener...
  21. I wont be powder coating. No colour match, and powder coaters are as scarce as pink giant squirrels her in Norway (they ARE around, only difficult to spot...). Paint and teflon coating is the way to go. I think pork chops should be shiny... Done teflon coating on my car (1990 Audi Turbo Quattro Coupe, 300 hp, vrooom :-) and its amazing. Dirt repellent and chip resistant.
  22. My first bike was the BMW R1150R. I bought that because its damn easy to drive, big, relatively fast, secure and holds its value. Had the Breva been around I would have gone for that instead. You have to look at what the Breva competes against in order to give it a fair judgement. Its not a bike for me, its not a new V11 or a new LeMans, its a bloody good looking naked bike for grown ups, new bikers with deep pockets, and people not in a hurry. And the target group loves it. Its good marketing! MG needs the money in order to make the V12 for the rest of us :-) I am a designer, and I think its one of the best designed bikes around. The details are amazing, and all surfaces are well treated and has an exclusive feel to them. In the flesh, and in red I love it. I actually think its one of the best designed, and most international looking italian bikes I have seen since the Ducce 916. (NB: I love my V11 because it is BRUTAL, not because it is well designed. It is not.) I cant wait to see the sporty spinoff of the Breva. By the way, the Griso is difficult; neither a naked sportsbike or a cool powercruiser. Neat touches but cluttered, neither brutal nor refined... it should have had more raw, butch appeal as a competitor to the Yam MT01, or to the Triumph Speed Triple. Its too long, too heavy... It has nothing of the appeal that the compact, muscular V11 has. The stance is wrong. I fear its gonna flop... And its friday...beer day....
  23. with gentle force get wife to learn to ride, then buy her something interesting. in red, which makes a lot of noise. I did...:-) (Laverda 668, it stands beside her bed now) I got my V11 for myself.
  24. good tip, I was wondering if doing one side at a time was possible. will look into. in a months time we will be covered in slush an d snow up here, so time is on my side.
  25. Thanks. You confirm my fears. I feared that the pork chops can not be easily dismantled. This smells of manual labour and cold garage floors. Nice excuse to buy expensive imported beer, though.... Will try to bodge it up with spraypaint first, then do the big thing during winter. Must find workshop-manual first, then wait for the snow....
