  1. Very cool, Greg. Sounds like I have my work cut out for me... now that I have the Ti pipes on the Coppa, a new cross-over is the next logical choice... and as you saw in the other thread, I am looking for a centerstand too... so I guess the Mistral is the way to go! Look out Visa - daddy is going shopping!
  2. Much obliged, Greg. I'll call your shop tomorrow to get those V50III gaskets. Do you guys have, or can you get the TLM Center Stand for the V11 Sport #014300000012 How about same for V50III: #194303050000 (TLM website says out of stock) Thanks-
  3. The "new" Breva and Griso 1100 are much quieter valve-train-wise. I am sure if they are a new dealer, only handling the new bikes (no older Calis or Spine frames) then they aren't used to real Guzzi valve noise.
  4. Awe, man - that don't sound right at all! Best of luck getting one - I believe they are as rare as hen's teeth. Prolly much better off with the PCIII and taking her to be custom dyno mapped.
  5. No idea why yours doesn't have it... It looks to be a simply glued on plastic marker, whereas it was a paper sticker on the old ECU. Yours could have just come off... I hope you didn't get screwed. But since the dealer's got the bike running well for you now, sounds like no harm either way. The instructions did say you'd need to balance throttle bodies... but that didn't seem to be necessary on my little ride last night. It sounded sweet all the way through the range, and no hiccups anywhere. The one thing that is a bit annoying (I'll fix it tonight) is at low revs one of the hooks on the springs that secures the can to the mounting pipe vibrates and makes a little rattling sound... I'm sure I can just crimp it a bit tighter (closed) so it doesn't touch the pipe and make the noise... the trick will be finding which of the 8 hooks is the one vibrating! Funny thing - the "hardest" part of the install was getting those goofy rubber sleeves over the springs.
  6. Photos are uploaded - I took pics of the 2 ECUs so you can see them side-by-side. http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=12vg8a...=0&y=pmfnp1
  7. Just finished the installation! Titanium kit sounds friggin awesome! FYI - my ECU has a plastic insert on it that said it was the racing titanium kit... it also had black sharpie on the back of it. I'll post pics fo the R&R tonight or tomorrow. Gonna go for a ride into Old Town with my bride to our favorite Italian restaurant in celebration!
  8. My morning was occupied with running a 10k race, then doing some work on my wife's V50III. Now I get to turn my attention to the V11. talking about the ones that replace the original footpeg assembly. Gonna see if I can snap this stuff together in a few hours... will see if my 10 thumbs can move that quickly!
  9. I'll definitely put up a post (and maybe pics) of my frustrations! As with most things in my life my kit is missing the bracket/hangers that attach the cans and passenger pegs, so I am going to attempt to go with the stock ones (should put the Ti cans in the lower position whcih is actually what I want, because I also want to put on H&B bags so I can do some touring)... if that doesn't work - I am f'ed because two of the most reliable sources have told me that not only do these things not exist... there isn't even a PART # for it... so I would have to go to a machine shop and have it fabbed.
  10. Man, did this thread pop up at an opportune time. I have reserved Sunday morning for putting on the Ti cans and ecu on my bike -- I am completely hamfisted, but have been assured by people with wrenching skills that I can do this myself... the concern is if something is "off" and I need to adjust valves or balance throttle bodies... that's definitely above my pay grade. I hope I have the same luck as grossohc!
  11. As stated above, bag zips into place with a thick weave zipper, and locks with a plastic clasp. The only PITA is refueling - you must remove the bag each time... and with the mileage I get with the Coppa... that is about every 120 miles. When I zip the bag on and off I have a tendency to hit the horn button if my bars are cocked to the left... just be aware of that if you have the key in and turned on when zipping her up. The bag itself is great. I had to go on a short trip a month or so ago... had a duffle bag with clothes, but wanted a backpack for sunglasses, MP3, magazines, pair of flip flops, etc... Couldn't find my rgular backpack, so I snagged the MG tank bag - worked like a charm!
  12. Not sure about the laptop, but the Guzzi tankbag expands large enough to hold quite a bit of stuff. I rode to a Yamakamazuki dealer one day, wearing some small boots and a Joe Rocket armor/mesh jacket. The place ended up having some Sidi boots on sale and a Joe Rocket Meteor Jacket that I wanted. I bought them, then immediately thought to myself -- How the Hell am I getting these home? No problem - I unzipped the expansion portion of the tank bag and had no problem fitting the boots and the jacket (that has back, shoulder and elbow armor) that I had been wearing into it. The Guzzi bag for the V11 can be hard to find - if Greg has one, my suggestion is to get it NOW! It has a clear map pocket (it is a little narrow, but usable) and shoulder straps to convert it to a backpack when off the bike.

    wine anyone

Good luck on the sale of the Centauro... Thought you might be linking us to this-- http://www.vtwinwines.com/ It is for those wrong-way V Twin guys.
  14. Give me 24 hours, okay? ************************* Admittedly, a "pour" effort.
  15. So... How did the bike handle? Any noticeable differences? How did you mount the hitch? Details, man!
  16. Had mine installed about 6 months ago - side stand mount didn't need any modification on my 2004 V11.
  17. Get married... then you won't understand what they are saying 100% of the time! but by then, it won't matter
  18. I think it is really eye-catching, and if that is what you are after, you've achieved it. When I look at my bike, I almost don't notice the hugger on it. Makes me wonder if I'd want to do it or not... I don't think I would... but I have considered going tri-colore on the tail... maybe if I did that, then I'd do the hugger too... Plus, my front fender is carbon fiber.... so if I was going to go totally insane, I'd do that up as well... then people would beat me to death for going crazy on a Coppa Italia... all the while accusing me of trying to make it look like this:
  19. Hmm- Good point... that and I used to do a lot of 2-up riding with my wife - our combined weight used to be about 330, but now it is about 270. However, as stated before, this was just me riding solo, so maybe you have a point regarding the full compression before as opposed to lighter weight on it now. Ohh - and I was not able to do well with the detergent test... USD forks, liquids don't want to sit at the seal level for very long!

    why le mans?

Unless, of course, your V11 is a Coppa Italia!
  21. Nope- no oil leaking - at least not enough to see under the bike, or on the legs themselves. Crap - well if these things are truly busting at 5,000 for most folks, then that is probably what the deal is for me, cause I am right there. It might not be "sudden" - just that I began to really notice it when I was riding yesterday -- DC has a LOT of stop & go - stoplights, and just idiots (Read: tourists) who stop for absof_ckinglutely no reason whatsoever, other than to admire statutes, monuments, museums, etc)... Anyway, it was in the middle of that kind of situation when I thought to myself... "geez this thing seems to dive quite a bit... can't say as I remember it doing that much before today." In all fairness, I don't do much city driving (almost never in DC), so maybe it is just more noticeable when you have a lot of stop/go traffic. I'll try the detergent trick when I get home and report on what I find. Thanks again, guys.
  22. Yep- Alexandria, VA. My wife and I will be there. Already marked it off on the work calendar. I'll ride the V11 and she'll be in the cage - that way she can bring all the provisions (tent, bags, chairs, mats, coolers full of beer, case of wine - you know, just the essentials!) that way my bike will only have a tank bag! here she (the wife) is throwing out a bit of a pre-dinner spread on Saturday night at last year's rally:
  23. Thanks, Gents. Basic stats on me are 5'8" and 162 lbs... so not too much the "typical" American today, though a year ago I was closer to 190 lbs. Based on "feel" alone, I am guessing the dive is way outside the parameters y'all have set... 35-50mm with rider? I'd want to think mine is more like 65-80mm - a REALLY NOTICEABLE dive. Ratchethack - thanks for the links, haven't checked them out yet, but will shortly. I'll try the zip ties and measuring to confirm actual distance of the dip. For "unladen" and I to grab the bike from the front and push down on the bars to see how far it dips or is there some other way this is done. I can probably figure out how to do it with the laden weight
