  1. Sorry to hear that it did not solve all your problems. I had the hiccups also (but not as bad as yours) but the custom map seems to have fixed it in my case. I guess your will have to get the custom map. Oh well...it's worth it if it solves your problem. Good luck with it.
  2. But more important, how is that map I sent you working??
  3. OK...I got a chance to ride and I can I can say that the money was well spent. The bike just runs great. Great response everywhere. I am now certified hooked on the whole Moto Guzzi thing. This is a great bike. While I was picking my V11 up from the dealers I checked out the new Breva 1100 and Griso on the floor. My next bike (and I have no intention of parting with the Coppa) is going to be one of these I believe. My problem is which one. I like them both but I think I am leaning towards the Griso. Anyway, to all of you fence sitters our there (guys with power commanders that are thinking about a custom map), I suggest you get off the fence and get the custom map. To Guzzista. I am sorry I haven't sent you the map yet. I intended to load it onto my PC this morning before I left for work and I forgot. I will try and get to it this weekend. I hope it has the same effect on your bike as it does on mine.
  4. No problem. As soon as I get the opportunity to off-load the map to my PC I'll send you a copy.
  5. I took the advice of those on this board who said NOT to install the FBF high compression pistons (although I haven't completely ruled it out yet). Instead I made the following modifications to my 2004 Coppa Italia: - MG Ti Slip-ons - Stock ECU with Power Commander and a map I got from FBF in PA (not a custom) - FBF X-Over - FBF airbox replacement kit I wasn't completely satisfied with the bikes fueling so I decided to kiss $250 USD goodbye and go for a custom Power Commander map. I had the FBF guys in PA do the work. I just picked the bike up and, although I haven't ridden it yet, their Dynojet results show power and torque improvements throughout the range. Max HP without custom map - 82.32 Max HP with custom map - 86.62 Max torque without custom map - 69.77 Max torque with custom map - 71.98 I think these numbers are pretty good. I'll see how I feel after I get a chance to ride.
  6. They don't have a back rest, but it does look like a nice lugage rack/grab rail system. I am thinking about getting one of these for my Coppa.
  7. You probably already know about this, but just in case... The July issue of 'Cycle World' not only has a very favorable review of the Breva 1100, but they also gave it honorable mention in their 'Ten Best Bikes 2006' section citing that: 'Most people expected the Breva 1100 to be an improvement over previous Guzzis, but no one thought it would be so good' These guys obviously haven't ridden too many Guzzis lately!
  8. I had the same problem with my Aprilia. I tried the button thing but they were not the problem. Next I bought new brake rotors. Not the problem. Finally I took it to a new dealer that someone recommended. They discovered that the forks were mounted in the triple clamps slightly cockeyed (one a little linger than the other). They striaghtened it out and the problem has not returned. Have you had your forks serviced, or off of the bike for any reason lately?
  9. 1998-2005 Moto Guzzi V11 Sports are highlighted in Motocyclist magazine's 'Smart Money' Column this month.
  10. Hey Orangeokie, How are you enjoying that Guzzi? I know you had an unfortunate (and painful) separation from your Falco. Sorry. The bight side is you now have a very nice MG. I still have, and ride, my Falco but I must say that I am enjoying my new Moto Guzzi more these days. It is such a nice ride. A very different experience compared to the Falco. Those Falcos have got some balls, but there is just something about the MG...it's great isn't it?
  11. My bike is due for it's first service soon. I am going to have the dealer help me get the static sag set up for my weight (170 lbs). I highly recommend that you have this done. It made a world of difference on my Aprilia Falco.
  12. Thanks to all for your feedback. One thing that I have found is that I really hate the stock plastic dipstick! You simply can not get an acurate reading. I used my truck's dipstick to try and get a better indication on the oil level and it appears to be OK? Maybe slightly down but I must say that I am not completely sure. I added about 1/4 of a quart of 15/50 and I have not had any similar problems since. I did notice that the clutch makes a hell of a racket when disengaged though. I guess that is normal? I am curious about 'Kaputs' posting. Is your bike OK? Thanks.
  13. It did happen after some hard acceleration. I'll top it off a little. Thanks.
  14. The other day I was riding my 2004 Coppa Italia when the oil warning light suddenly came on. I pulled over and stopped. The light went off after about 3-4 seconds and since I was close to home I rode her back. On the ride home the light did not come on again and the bike seems to have the correct amount of oil in the sump. The bike is new and has only 700 miles on. I think I checked the oil level correctly. Any ideas / suggestions? Thanks
  15. I have diablo corsas on my Aprilia Falco and I am very happy with them. As soon as my Coppa Italia needs new tires I will be putting a pair of the Diablos on. They're really great!
  16. Ok...That's It!!! I am calling my doctor. I must be going deaf!
  17. Wow! Now you have me really wondering!?! Mine is not load at all. I don't like the really load obnoxious pipes either but I do like to be heard (particularly when passing through someone’s blind spot on the freeway). Also I live in an area that is heavily populated with deer and I like to think that the loud pipe helps to ‘clear the road’ a bit. Don't know if that makes sense at all but... My wife is even disappointed with the volume. In fact she asked me when I was going to install the ‘louder’ pipes AFTER I had already do so. I'm sure that if you heard these pipes, you would agree. They are pretty though!
  18. OK...I installed the Ti kit this morning (pipes and ECU). I was able to install the pipes in the low mount position using the original, stock hangers. I must say that I am disapointed after my first 50 miles. I do not notice any performance improvement whatsoever and, in my opinion, the pipes could be a bit louder. Maybe a Stucchi X pipe is in order! I will say that the new pipes are very, very light compared to stock.
  19. What about installing the Ti kit (pipes and ECU) before 1,000 miles? Does anyone know of any reason why that would be a problem? Thanks.
  20. Ok, two more things. I took my Aprilia Falco for a ride this morning. All I can say is WOW!!!
  21. One more thing. How many posts before I am no longer a 'Rookie'?? (and does this one count?)
  22. Holy Crap! You guys are real Guzzi enthusiasts! This is a great board, thanks for all the feedback and entertaining reading. I would like to get you all together and buy you a beer but I'm thinking that getting all of you in the same room might not be such a good idea! Especially since I started this thread. I must say that you all have very good arguments for your particular point of view on this subject. Since my Coppa came with the Ti kit I think I will start there and install the pipes and the ECU (providing that the pipes will install in the low mount position). From there I may go for the Stucchi X pipe and maybe an air box mod of some kind. It seems like those of you who have installed the X pipe really like it. I will definitely hold off on the pistons for now. I do not have my bike broken in yet (550 miles so far) and my dealer cautioned me not to install the Ti kit until the bike has at least 1,000 miles on the clock. I find this advice a bit odd since I should think that the bike would have better fueling with the mods in place. He says it should run lean for the break in period. He also advised me to adhere to the RPM recommendations during break in (5K until 600 miles, 6K until 1000, and after that redline) but not to baby the engine within those limits. He says that I should basically run it hard (full throttle) from time to time. Does any of this make sense to any of you?
