  1. I've noticed the same up here in the NW. I was remarking the same to a friend this weekend. Nice to see more MC on the road.
  2. I'm going to jump in here even though this isn't a direct MG experience. However, I had the exact same problem with my Superhawk (1000cc, VTwin). In my case it was the TPS. It was out of adjustment and was signaling the ECU to advance the timing before it should. Once adjusted to spec. all was fine. As I hadn't seen this mentioned, I thought I'd share. Now if the MG doesn't use the TPS in the same manner, just ignore the above comment.
  3. I knew I'd forget something... Thanks for helping me focus on the details... It is regular and increases/decreases with speed (up/down). It's not very noticeable and with the engine running it's very difficult to notice as engine vibration masks the clunk. I notice it more while coasting with the clutch lever pulled in. Good question about gear selection. I'll check that out as I would assume that it would point to a transmission problem. Thanks Ron
  4. Thanks Pete. I'm almost afraid to ask... Whats a trunnion? And do they need periodic adjustment? Hers's some additional info I forgot to include... I feel it only in the foot pegs and more on the left peg. Ron 2001 V11s
  5. I just started noticing a clunk that is not related the engine RPM. (The clunk does not increase with RPM, nor does it drop when I pull in the clutch.) It's slight, and not very noticeable. Starts at about 30 MPH. Its kinda like when a rock is stuck in your tire tread. I haven't spent much time diagnosing it... Just wondering if someone here has run across this already. Thanks Ron
  6. This is what I had in mind... a bike and two breasts
  7. Here's a link to an article installing Convertibars Handlebar Risers on a Moto-Guzzi Sport 1100... http://www.webbikeworld.com/t2/motorcycle-handlebar-risers/
  8. You San Diegians in cahoots... probably members of the Walton clan I suspect... Thanks for the info.
  9. This has happened to me... Turned out to be the connectors to the micro switch. They looked like they were connected, however, they were not. Pushing them back on fixed the problem.
  10. Sounds like its a common problem. Follow link for more info: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8574
  11. Sorry for the delay... Here's some detail of the installation. Not pretty but it works...

Put this in the catagory of possible fixes that are *FREE*... Try adjusting your shift lever. This may not help at all, however, all you will be out is a little time. From the Motobits rearset documentation... http://www.motobits.com/raceset.doc "A note on geometry The foot works better pushing down than pulling up. So setting up the shifter linkage is most important for the pulling up (Normal or GP shift, doesn’t matter) on the lever. Try to get the rod and lever arms at 90degrees to each other when the shifter is loaded (the tight spot just before popping into gear) in the up position..."
  13. Yes... I used flexible rubber radiator hose of the diameter that allows the hose to slide over the airbox intakes. The original clamp holds everything in place. Plastic zip ties hold the front of the hose in place against the frame. I don't think that it makes a performance improvement. Though, it does not "ping" under load at low RPM as much as it used to. Seems that cooler air would be better for the engine anyway.
  14. I'm away from home and won't be able to post a photo until I get back... Here's a description of what I did. Both the Superhawk/Firestorm and the V11 have fairing mounts on the front of the steering stem. I made two adapters (top and bottom) to mate the V11 mounts to the Honda fairing support. The rear mounts are made of 1/2" by 1/8" aluminum bar bent into a "J" shape that mount to the fairing on one end and a oil cooler bolt on the other. The length will vary as they are used to tilt the fairing to the desired angle. This allows headlamp adjustment. I covered them in rubber tubing and they are bent to force them against the fuel tank. This reduces vibration. Here is a drawing of the front (left) and rear (right) adapter. photos to follow...
  15. Good Eye... It's from a Honda Superhawk (Firestorm to you ) Follow link for more info... http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8553

  17. I've been a Metzler fan from way back... That said, I just installed a set of Pirelli Stradas. I took advantage of the free front tire offer (yes, I can be bought with free tires... and beer ). Last weekend (4 days actually) I romped through western Oregon's costal mountain range. The tires worked great and at 1,400mi they look new. We'll see how they hold up over time.

I had some similar issues on my 00 V11Sport... A change to Red Line Shockproof Heavy (Per this lists recomendation) made a big difference (for the better). Now it shifts more like my Honda
  19. Thanks... One less think to worry about I'm taking the Guzzi on a 4 day ride starting this Thursday. I'll make every effort to keep any moisture from even thinking of entering the engine.
  20. Changed the filter today... had to drop the pan and skewer the filter to get it off. Never had the pan off before. I was surprized to find water in the bottom for the pan. Actually it had combined with the oil to make a heavy goop, tan in color, of about 1/8 inch thick. It has to be condensation... I don't take the MG on short tripsand all oil going in has come from sealed containers. Now this is only the second time I've changed the oil as I purchased her in November last year. So I can't vouch for the care she received before me. Does this happen to any of your Guzzi's?
  21. Thanks... Here you go... A front and a front 3/4...
