  1. Being non political on all this, and only commenting on my observatations, I stated money spent on learning to track ride is the best return on investment. Having seen Roger Garlick smoke jap rice rockets on a crappy tired quota at buttonwilliow, along with rich rodriguez passing gixxer's on a jackal or ev on the track, it was clear that the riders ability was far more relevant that the chassis condition and suspension perfection. I've seen these boys and others smoke faster, better handling sport bikes becuase they wisely invested in becoming better riders..... sort it out as it works best for you....
  2. Since I dont post here much since a truck took out my 02 Lemans and nearly killed my good friend, I'm ignorant of all the progress the past couple of years. I can tell you that for my 02 Lemans, simply putting in a set of proper traxxion dynamics fork springs of the proper rate, using the proper oil, setting the sag correctly at both ends, then dialing the rebound and compression damping per normal posted practices yields a capable handling bike that far exceeds my abilities. Once simply sorted, the biggest bang for the buck to go faster is to do track days and learn about riding bikes fast..... The scientists here can argue, but, perfect handling bikes are absolutely not fast when ridden by a rider who does not understand handling and how to ride fast. sort your bike basically and focus your investment on track days and rider improvment..... If the scientists disagree, oh well, I can live with their apparent lack of the obvious.... Cheers, Jon
  3. Price Sloan makes a breva crossover that is the dogs danglies, sells em on guzzi tech, they are great. I dont find the exhaust pipe makes much difference, the stock cat and crossover are so restrictive, the bike is quiet even with the exhaust pipe removed, get a price sloan crossover from guzzitech, they are pure art
  4. Yo Wallis, I'm off this week and planning on a 3-4 day ride, perhaps with OC Johnny, you in? Like to leave Wednesday, and hit the twisties for a few days, stay at dives, eat at dives, and ride the good roads... Call me if you can escape
  5. Unfortunately, my brother in law, John was involved in the same accident that totaled my V11 lemans, his V11 sport was not damaged too badley, but he decided to part it out. He has lots of parts, engine, trans, wheels etc. He is putting them on ebay as he dissassembles it. If you want any particular bits, just give him a call John @ 714.465.7114 Here is a link that will get you to the current stuff he has on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2001-Moto-G...sQ5fAccessories
  6. w, glad you're back.... Now that I have most of a scura, lets ride more.... cheers,
  7. So I leave for a couple of years and the two bitches, Lupo and Pete trash talk..... Fucking glad I parted out your scura.....
  8. He may luck out, the crank journals are pretty tough, he may be able to take down the smeared bearing material on em and fit new shells and luck out.... Unless he continued to ride the piss out of it, then it could be pretty pricey. There is a guy on ebay selling an 04 spiney crank and other bits.... buyer beware...
  9. There is enough variation in every guzzi that a downloaded map will at best, only get you close. If you want the best running, best performance and best fuel mileage, hook up with someone who knows guzzi's and the dynolink software. My 02 Lemans made 77 bhp rear wheel, I had drilled many holes in the airbox, added an older serial PCIII, mistral pipes and an FBF X-over. My bike ran great, when Louie was done, it made 85 bhp rear wheel, ran better, better fuel mileage, and ran absolutely perfect. downloaded maps cannot compensate for the numerous variations in evey guzzi, a custom map is perrfected for your exact motorcycle. As I rant often, no reason to get a PCIII and then not get a quality dynolink tune..... On both my Lemans and Cal SS, huge improvments were achieved on what I thought were already perfect running motorcycles
  10. I've been struggling with what to do with my crashed 02 Lemans, the motor and trans were perfect, and looking at the Furia kit, I would only need a front end and a few odds and ends. My lemans has little value other that parting it out, but with the furia kit at 4000euro + my good bits, and another $2K of trickery, I could have a superb, unique bike. Anyone done this and had good, or bad experiences that they could share. I just hate to not use such a sweet motor and trans, 85bhp at the rear with nothing but pipes and PCIII and the absolutely best shifting trans i've run across. It appears the furia accepts the 6 speeder, but I do have a low mileage 5 speed if necessary. Any advice, input, insults etc are appreciated. Thanks, Jon
  11. I see very little reason to add a PCIII without getting a custom map, after properly mapping your bike, it runs absolutley perfect, no downloaded map will ever give you the same quality. The map is made exactly for your bike and its variabilities.
  12. I had Louie in Acton dynolink tune my 02 Lemans with an opened airbox, but retaining the snorkels, mistral pipes FBF x-over and early serial PCIII, I got 85 bhp at the rear wheel and was done at around 3000 ft elevation, ran stinking fast. fastest spiney I've ridden.... but he knows guzzi's very well.
  13. Have you folks thought about contacting Price Sloan in So Cal? He makes Quota pipes and Todd Egans Griso RS and LS pipes as well as some tonti pipes. He could probably whip up some nice spiney pipes to suit your needs, and lower volumes is his forte, his prices are good as well
  14. I live in the San Fernando Valley, arguably the hottest place in the US next to death valley. We get many days over 115 each summer. I've ridden my eldo, SS, Lemans and Griso in stop and go traffic, all in temps above 115 with no ill effects. I do use good oil, mobil 1 synth in the eldo, ss and lemans and that fancy 10-60 syn stuff in the griso, but never had a problem with over heating. I have a thermometer dip stick in the eldo, it never gets spooky hot. My belief is that the rider will keel over and fall off the bike from the heat before the bike gets damaged. All of my bikes but the griso are properly fueled though with PCIII's and proper jetting on the eldo

    Big Fat Rears

I have a 5.5 inch rim from my 02 Lemans, perfect condition, with a new Michelin Pilot Power on it, will trade it for your wheel for $100 plus you cover shipping or sell it to you outright if you want the wider wheel
  16. Sloppy timing chain seems to be the best candidate for aluminum bits, but it should be audible if thats the culprit..... Unless, Roper's been working on your bike and slipped in some aluminum gears to replace your reliable chain......
  17. Hook up my brothers, the time to register is now.... Lots of good stuff at the So Cal National, let Todd know how many are coming.... Planning for the right number will make this great.... Ed and Vern at the Rock Store have offered to open up the Rock Store during the week for us, just the rally folks at the Rock Store, epic,,,
  18. The fairing mount is mangled on the bike, as are the instruments. I'll be putting together a list of all the perfect condition parts in the next week. I expect it to be released as evidence in February and then I'll need to clear some room. I've just purchased an older SP and am negotiating on a nice Centauro right now.... My wife is not very happy with me....
  19. Kev H. I dont know you, but I've met you and likely, you were as underwhelmed by me as I was by you. I dont normally give a rats ass about when anyone says anything about anyone else on the net. But over the past few months, I've seem you trash Todd E, Ed Milich, and now Peter Roper. I dont know if you were pulled from your momma't tit too early, suffer from penis envy or are just a plain asshole. I have known Ed, Todd and Pete for a number of years, and their combined contribution to the Guzzi world speaks for itself.... how much did your organization donate to support guzzi racing last year? How many times did you fly overseas to fix another guzzi riders bike for the cost of airfare, where is your website that provided valuable information to guzzisti around the world gratis? When did you invent a device that helped numerous spine frame owners avoid bearing failures. Your rhetoric has finally driven me to call you what you are, a petty, arrogant, self centered asshole. My friends that you have disparaged are a bit too kind to crawl into the gutter to participate in your insulting banter, but I like the gutter. You must not know Ed, Pete or Todd, as your disrespect is unwarranted and demeaning. You fancy yourself an expert, and you may be fairly clever, but for your own good, I suggest you spend more of your time focusing on becoming a decent human being with respect for others. The internet is a poor mechanism to judge character, and you may be a decent person, but your written words are often rude, insulting and belittling. Jon
  20. I dont believe the bhp was corrected for altitude as the sole purpose was to enhace performance and driveability. Louie could do that, but I was not looking for a chart to post, just a sweet running bike. I do not belieive and correction factors were involved, or smoothing, it was simple race type tuning, pure data, no bs, no effort to maximise the appearance of the results. It as spooky as my Lemans ran perfect when I arrived, and ran much more perfect when I left, huge gains in the powerband, and big gains on top.. having the bike wheelie during low gear roll ons was a real surprise.
  21. Thanks for the info.... I'll do a bit more research Regarding the airbox, I have a nicely modded airbox that has a series of increasing larger holes on the tops and sides, but still get the flow from the snorkels. I believe this airbox mod is superior to the various open box filter clamps or mods to the boxes. It maximises cold air intake and still gets the cool pressurised air from the snorkels, it is cool. We have a number of engineers at our company and they gave me their input as I was modifying it, the results demonstrate they were correct. As soon as it is released, I'll ping you to arrange sending it your way. Cheers
  22. Louie set the AFR around 13/1, there was no correction on the dyno, he assured me the guzzi sensors adjusted for barometric pressure. I do know that on the way home from this tune, on one of the straights in the mountains, I hit a bit over 130mph in no time. it wheelied just rolling on the throttle... sucker absolutley smoked, idled like a sewing machine, started perfect, ran perfect in 0 degrees or 115 degrees. It was absolutely the best running guzzi I have ever ridden, my cal SS dyno linked by louie is also perfect running... and it ran great pre PCIII Anyone who doubts the value of a PCIII has never had one properly tuned... It is matched perfectly to the minor variations and nuances of your bike, no other method to do this... I'll have my Cal SS at the So Cal National this year, anyone who wants to experience a perfect fueled guzzi is welcome to try it
  23. My previously perfect, pristine low mileage now crashed 02 Lemans is soon to be released as evidence. everything but the front end and front plastic is good to go. Any suggestions on how I should carve it up? ie, what should go with the motor, etc. Do I include the F/I with the motor, do I include the PCIII with the ECU, should I sell the bevel box with other bits? I have a few folks that have asked for bits, but I dont want to tear it apart farther than necessary or cause folks problems if they need entire systems. Any feedback is appreciated. Sorry if this is mis-posted and should be in the for sale column. Thanks for your time
