  1. USD forks on and Eldo will be very cool, please post pics when you do the deed. Let me know if you want to sell your old Eldo forks, my stockers are fairly sacked. Jon
  2. I have the Marzochi (sp) forks, really sucked until I changed the springs and oil, now a big improvement.
  3. Aggressive paint stripper turns the paint to goo and you can wipe it off, it even works with powder coat. Spray it on, wait 2 beers, then wipe it off and rinse well, ready to polish with just a bit of elbow work (pounding two beers)...
  4. Tom M, Just call them up, they dont have them on their website, but they know about guzzi's. They knew about my LeMans and have sold quite a few sets to the guzzi crowd, fit was perfect and they made a big difference. Give em a call, I'm sold, and they were fairly priced, let's me put some money away for a Honda Trail 90 Cheers, Jon
  5. Your post caused me to look at mine, they are shot after 12K, if not available from guzzi, I'll maching nylon or urethane replacements. Let me know if you find a source, if not, I'll run a few sets for others.. Jon
  6. This afternoon, I did 150 miles on my LeMans, I can fully recommend the Michelin tires and Traxxion Dynamics fork springs. My LeMans handled great, I'm very pleased and I have not really dialed in the front suspension, it was great from the start, compression at a few clicks, rebound an zero, with 400ml of 10 wt synthetic fork fluid... I went with a 170 vs the stock 180, a mandatory mod now that I've sampled a 170... Cheers, Jon
  7. Have a few folks interested in riding Sunday, either the LA mountains up to Newcombs or the Santa Monica mountains. Post if your interested, and post your preference for LA or Santa Monica Mountains. Cheers, Jon
  8. I'm sick Todd, I need help.... Should have gone for a Ural... or a Royal Enfield.....
  9. Just finished the next step in my LeMans upgrade, got the performance through Mistrals, modded airbox, FBF crossover and dynolinked PCIII (85bhp), I just added the Buell footpegs, Michelin Power Pilots and Traxxion dynamics fork springs, the sucker really handles great. I love this bike
  10. Bill, Pay no attention to Gary's post, it's not that dangerous, happend to me too. Dont worry, Guzzi sent me two of em, I'll post you one for what it cost me. Paypal me $200 and I'll overnight it.... Looks like a simple bolt, but it's more What the heck, you're a good guy, send me $150.... I'll take the loss for a pal! Jon
  11. Back in 1974, I got a job working nights at a donut shop while I was going to college. Got my job because the lady who I replaced had a drug problem, her ring came off her finger and fell into the deep fat fryer, she reached in for it......

    New ride

The disc brake eldos do have better stopping power, but the look is not classic. If you want a great, mellow bike to rack up the miles, a 72 eldo is a great bike. Mine has 153K on it, no leaks and is the smoothest, most comfortable bike I've ridden. Not for high speed, at least over 110, but I have shown some other new bikes the rear plate in the local twisties....
  13. Pete, I'll wait until you take care of business in the UK, rumor is that your warranty on these is at least as good as MGNA's was. If it blows the engine, we get a tank bag or jacket Hang in there with the UK stuff, it will pass. Cheers, Jon & Bren
  14. The Autozone near me has two different champagne touch up paints, with pen and brush in each bottle, for $6, I'd take the risk on em
  15. Greg, I just got my straight wound springs from Traxxion Dynamics, they dont mention guzzi's on there website, but when I talked to the tech guy he was very versed on guzzi's. I'll be installing them shortly and let you know, but I've had good results with these boys on my Jap track bike Jon
  16. So Cal Don has a set, they do catch your attention....
  17. As I've been refurbishing my damaged 02 Lemans, I installed the guts and lenses from Buell turn signals, got the buell lower footpets, a great Rich Maund seat, just had to touch up the paint. I found AutoZone has a 2 in 1 touch up paint that includes a pen and a brush. The Tereador Red Metallic for fords is near an exact match for the red metallic on the lemans, its number NG FM 344, again, cost six bucks, works well. Cheers, Jon
  18. All my Guzzi, I mean Buell parts are in, footpeg lowering, turn signal upgrading time. Now I just have to decide if I touch up the paint, or go for a paint job.... I wont put those stinkin bullet hole stickers on a ding... Cheers, Jon
  19. My Sunday started with a ride on my SS, which shortly demonstrated a wobbly rear wheel which has been giving symptoms for some time, so I unboxed my Rich Maund seat and took the Lemans out for a 200 mile twisty bit morning, after removing the stubs of the damaged turn signals. Excellent ride, and after 200 miles, cant say enough about how comfy, and cool looking Rich's seats are. My Lemans is on the road to recovery, well actually improvment. a small bottle of touch up paint and I'm good to go... Cheers, Jon
  20. Just got back from a 200 mile ride on my brand new Rich Maund 02 Lemans seat, what a difference, comfy, stable and the first seat I've had that actually made me faster in the twisty bits. I've only put 200 miles on it, but I'm hooked. GO RICH!
  21. Happier ending, I was expecting a forturne for the replacement signals, the local Buell dealer sold me the signals with all the bulbs and cooler tinted lenses for $12 each, the guzzi appears to use identical to what the buells, run, so I noticed the nice new buell lightning footpets that are lower, but not much wider that the stock Lemans, got them too, Rich Maund redid my seat, so a half hour of installation, and finding a painter to do a bit of touch up and I'll have a new and improved ride. Now for some panniers... Cheers, Jon
  22. Thanks Gents, I'm gettin over it, but of the five bikes, one is an unridden honda 250 rebel I'm trying to sell, and the other is a 2000 Kawasaki ZX-9R that I also want to rid myself of. however, I do now have stronger faith in a supreme being as my Eldo was spared, two years ago, it damaged my wifes car in a similar incident, however, by devine intervetion the Eldo was unscathed as presumably plastic was some futuristic stuff used in Japan at the time. Guess I best start sucking up to the missus, she seems to have a similar affinity for her car as I do my guzzi's. Todd, when you goin to start sellin Buells and scooters so we can pilfer parts.... Cheers, Jon
  23. After seaking counseling, and putting things in perspective, I am now requesting any advice that you folks may have. In perhaps my stupidest and easily avoidable activity, I have damaged both sides of my once perfect 02 Lemans. I have a smallish 2-car garage with 5 bikes and the wifes Saturn. While moving the lemans to give her room to get into the car, I slipped on some oil my SS had decided to leak, the bike fell into her car and smashed the front right turn signal (she claims the car was scraped, but that's another battle) In my effort to lift the Lemans off the ground, with my wifes help, we went to far and it fell on it's left side, taking out the left front turnsignal and gouging the fairing where it sticks out by the signal and a bit of gougin on the pipes. After ruling out suicide, and walking around the block convincing myself that my lot in life is far better than most poor bastards, I've regained my composure. What I would like from this group is any suggestion on turn signal replacement other than stock, mine are in bits, and perhaps a suggestion for finding some touch up paint locally. Any suggestions are appreciated, and apologies if I seem a bit of a whiner, I'm still in the freaked out mode. Cheers, Jon
  24. Thanks Gents, That gets me thinkiong
  25. I'm planning on doing some traveling on my 02 Lemans, would like to mount some hard bags. Any suggestions on what works well, and who sells em? Any input is appreciated. Thanks, Jon
