  1. I had a similar problem that was solved by jiggling the relays
  2. My 02 Lemans ran perfect, but after opening up the airbox, I decided to pun on an older serial PCIII. I have mistral pipes, an FBF x-over and modded airbox. Before mapping, it made a healthy 77 bhp, after mapping (and this was at 2600 ft elevation), it made nearly 85 bhp, and was the strongest running guzzi I have ever ridden, it wheelied very easy (roper sloppage plate installed) and got better mileage as well. Louie knows the guzzi's well, and really dialed it in. It still shows a dip, but it was so strong, you never noticed anything but horsepower and torque
  3. Visit the So Cal site, plenty of Rally info there... Most folks will be camping, but I plan on having an RV there... No real close motels, but its a great camp ground. Check out the info on the site http://socal-guzzi.com/PHPBB/viewtopic.php...2e2b72b69b6e50c
  4. Yep, Bob,'s, er, huh, er, Todd's your uncle.....
  5. Pete's got most of the bits lined up for the vert, he and Todd are doing a shimming project on Todd's Jack-all, and Pete's diving into my Eldo Friday. If any of you in the So Cal area are interested, we're having a bit of a Pete-fest Friday evening either at my place or a local pub. Info is on the So Cal board if interested. It's been a blast watching and listening to Pete as he works on these suckers, he even brought his Axone with him, set up my Griso, found some issues with Rich's Scura (temp sensor) etc.
  6. Once you properly adjust the valves, set the TPS, balance the TB's, a properly dynolinked PCIII is the single biggest improvement you can make to these bikes, but the dyno operator must be skilled. My 02 Lemans after dynolink tuning ran perfectly, made 85 bhp rear wheel and had an increase in gas mileage. It had an opened up airbox, x-over and mistrals, but the driveability and perfect response was fantastic. I've done this to a couple of my Guzzi's and am completely sold on the value it brings....
  7. The Lavizzari pipes sure look the business, and a sleeker look than the usual canisters used on the V11's
  8. I haven't done it on a guzzi shock, but I've used various hose clamps on opposite sides of the shock to tighten down the spring to facilitate dissassembly, worked fine
  9. TR stuff is ~200 bucks and pays for itself instantly on the new guzzi's Cant tune em without it
  10. My precrash sorted 02 Lemans made 85 rear wheel bhp and fully smoked my griso, much faster, not even in the same class as for power and top end
  11. The TR software works great, its downloadable from them for nothing, but the harness they sell is where the cost is incurred. Todd E sells the kit at a good price on guzzitech.com
  12. I always used mobil 1 15-50 with no issues in all my guzzis except the griso, works in the eldo, ss and recently demised lemans
  13. Well, I guess I can comment, owning a recently crashed, but previously fully sorted Lemans as well as a Griso. The Griso with a carbon Mistral pipe looks the business, and is more comfortable, and frankly, more fun to ride. The Lemans is faster, wheelies better (got a roper sloppage plate) but is less comfortable for the long hauls. I was riding my Griso more than my lemans or Cal SS combined, its just a fun bike to ride. Down a twisty road, I could probably go faster on my Lemans, but I felt faster and had more fun going fast in the twisties on the Griso... Cheers,
  14. Don, Working Saturday, we shut down Gulfstreams G5 line and need to get em back up, but should be good for Ojai.... Cheers, Jon
  15. Don, How's that sucker look? Invite me over, I wont drink your beer or hassle your daughters
  16. Just a comment on the crash, it was my v11 Lemans on its side, and my brother in law's v11 sport as well. Both riders were riding legal speed limits, and both were very experienced, one with 20+ years, one with 25+ years riding experience. The truck blew it and caused an unfortunate accident, thankfully, both riders knew what to do to minimize damage to themselves..... Both will be fine. bikes will be addressed by the truck drivers insurance company... Lesson learned, wear the best protective gear you can, all the time! Cheers,
  17. One of the gents was riding my pristine, wonderful Lemans, bent it up pretty good, will not be putting it back together. If any of you see bits you might want, PM me. It has 10K miles on it and made 85 bhp at the rear wheel. Good bits are the engine, trans, bevel box, Rich Maund seat, PCIII, FBF x-over, brake calipers, tank, side panels, rear wheel, also have a new torque arm that I did not install and a pair of Jean Marc's custom bars that are fully adjustable and not installed. Again, as Joel noted, you can replace motorcycles, not friends, this could have been very bad..... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v199/oldguzzi/mylemans.jpg
  18. best bang for your buck will always be well run track days, you need to dial in your suspension, but good riders will smoke you on a goldwing or roadking if they know how to ride. Learn to ride on the track, then dial in your suspension, it will be easier, and you will be faster. When you see someone smoke a ricer on an eldo, it is not because they have their suspension dialed in
  19. My company is relocating from a big building to a much bigger builiding this past week and next week. I have AOG (aircraft on the ground) duty to spread amongst my team to keep the FAA happy. One of us must be available 24/7. We've worked a deal thats letting me ride the SMM's or other local mountains tomorrow morning from 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM, So if anyone who could not make it to Prescott wants to ride during this window, PM me. Also, I have a similar deal worked for Sunday, but I work until 10:00 AM, then I'm off, so I'm good for a ride after that. The riding helps with the chaos and rudeness of airlines screaming at me for lengthy periods of time. If you want to ride some of the local hills tomorrow, PM me or call me and leave a message, I am running our business on my blackberry so I cant answer many calls immediatetly. If I hear from you, I will contact you to agree on a departure location and time, if not, on Saturday, I will be at Starbucks on Topanga and Ventura 8AM-ish prior to heading up to the SMM's. Sunday, would be nice to do the the north LA mountains, or the SMM's again, but work keeps me tentative. I can get to work from the SMM's quickly. If you could not make Prescott and want to ride, PM or call me 818.675.5094 or post here, I will check before bailing. Remember, Don and I missed Prescott rally to keep America free. cheers, Any suggestions for a Sunday start point and time is appreciated Jon
  20. dial it in and its the among the most civilized of guzzi's. i have mistral pipes, modded airbox and fbf cross over, but the key is proper tuning, then with a PCIII dynolinking the sucker. It is the smoothest, most perfect running bike around
  21. Just spoke with David the owner, lots planned for sat and sunday 12th and 13th. Demo bikes, me and Jacks dueling Griso shootout.... and you have to ride the three wheeled MP3, that sucker is addicting, handles great and is a blast to ride Jon
  22. Pete's as good a mechanic as I've run into. A few years back at Moto Guzzi Classics, Mark E had a customers old V700 that would not run right, Mark had done all the right stuff, Pete listens to it, feels the exhausts output, makes a weird face and insists on a particular jetting change. Mark had already tried a different set of carbs with the same problem. At Pete's insistence, Mark changed the jetting to Pete's suggestion, instantly, the sucker ran great... Pete is a gem with these things. I will tell you though, to make any V11 FI bike run perfect, a PCIII dynolinked by a pro is unbeatable..... When Pete rides my Lemans this summer, he will agree too.....
  23. I'm with Jack, if you have Griso levers, you have a sale. They are selling lots of griso's and I want trick levers..... Make us some

    FBF crossover

I have an FBF properly installed on my 02 Lemans, no cracking, no issues. take your time, assure everthing hooks up with minimum stress and forget the mounting bracket on the stuchi. I love the fbf, and when properly installed is fabulous (see em on ebay for 239 us ) I've put many miles, and no cracks anywhere, and 85 dynolinked bhp dyno's at the rear wheel. got my vote...
  25. I've got an 02 Lemans with Mistral slip ons, FBF X-over and modded airbox, the addition of a "dynolinked" PCIII made the single biggest improvement in my bike, the map is customized for all the varialbles in my bike. A PCIII is a nice thing, and downloaded maps may get you close, but there is so much variation in guzzi's and their accessories that for true perfection, dynolinking your PCIII is a non-negotiable for me, I've done in on all my bikes but the Griso, and as soon as Todd gets them to make a Griso PCIII I'll do it for it as well. My guzzi's all run absolutely perfect in all aspects after this treatment, it is the way to go.
