    On a side note, do you brake with one, two, three, or four, fingers?

     

    Four. I find l have less control with two.

     

     

    There is some compelling anatomy and neurophysiology to support this.  I realize that any of us can learn and practice a technique, like two finger braking, to good effect even though the action is "not natural." Otherwise, there would be no violin players in the world  . . . :grin:

     

    Much of the anatomy of the gripping musculature of the hand ties the digits together such that the finger joints are all moved in relative unison. Isolating one or two fingers can introduce awkward inputs. Another example is the difficulty of keeping a solid shooting grip while only moving the trigger finger. This is more pronounced "curling" the first two fingers while keeping the "ring finger"/ "third" finger straight. Hold your hand out and try it in the air. That third finger naturally follows the other two;  a consequence of the anatomy.

     

    Perhaps more so, our ability to control a movement, especially fine motor control as in braking, is refined by sensory input from myriad sensors in the joints, tendons, and musculature. This is known as "proprioception." This "sense" (that we cannot "feel") establishes our perception of placement and is dynamically interactive with the resulting intentional act (i.e. modulating the brake). Neurophysiologically, the more fingers (joint, tendon, and muscle sensors/ input), the more refined the "feel" or "control"/ output.

  2. Hello all,

     

    I have been looking at V11s for some time now and finally got one.  It's the Scura S365 that belonged to Mike (Milar) in AZ.  

    Bought it on Ebay from the gentleman Mike sold it to.  He only put a couple hundred miles on it.

     

    First Guzzi for me, I have only owned Japanese bikes so far... so trying to familiarize myself with the idiosyncrasies.  I'll be asking lots of questions :)

    I'm guessing "2VPC" is 2 valve per cylinder? :huh2:

     

    If so, that simple suffix surely helps with the confusion surrounding the "4V" (PC) and the "8V" (whole motor).

    68C:  "ugly pills"    :lol:    ...and there my point, so many mixed feelings about the Centauro even amongst Guzzi fans, who are typically pretty open minded to odd designs.   But the Centauro has really grown on me though.

     

    @Chuck - That seems pretty reasonable as I am yet hoping to have my V11 Sport fully free of hiccups after this winter . . . > ahem

     

    @Al, I never understood the Centauro styling until I read the interview with the designer, Luciano Marabese, saying he drew the Centauro from the Dondolino. I always enjoy posting these images for comparison:

  5. Fitted a new (cheap) timepiece to the Sport.  I learned this from my cherished riding bud, Bruce Heath RIP: get a cheap wristwatch that matches your instruments, take off the band tabs and affix it to the triple tree.  Maybe next time, I'll spring for a better watch . . .

    Scud can chime in when he gets a chance, but the fuel supply line on the early V11 Sport is 12mm.

     

    5/16" is just under 8mm.   That's undersized by almost 3/16" (4mm). I don't reckon that would work.

     

    You'd be better with 1/2" line and connectors on the supply side even though that is very slighty oversized. Or source proper 12mm connectors for the OEM, or Scud-made, 12mm supply line.

  7. All in all, Moto Guzzi (Piaggio) came through well ahead of last year's EICMA display. I mean, there were even live people.

    Not just a plastic camel and a tarp between fake trees . . .

     

    Sure, I'm disappointed there was no "road-going" V85 as was hinted. But I am getting to like the tease.

    The price seems reasonable, but what about the shipping?

     

    Shipping was $64 and it came in 3 days. (More than reasonable in my opinion)

    The only way you can get away with this Titanium Sacrilege is to present your V11 at the Fifteenth South'n Spine Raid and rev it up.   Sure, there will be some shuffling and clinking, but in the end I'm pretty sure the clinking and hu-ahs will prevail . . . :drink::grin:

    Funny that the people who worry most about the horsepower figures are the same ones that say they don't care about the horsepower figures.

     

    Who cares? How fast do you wanna go anyway?

     

    The V85 will never compete with the GS, and Piaggio decided that they would never win against the "bench adventuring" crowd. So, they didn't bother. They built a simpler bike with a lot of flair and that great pushrod engine. 

     

    If it turns out to not be a total POS, I will buy one. I might get one even then....  :rolleyes:  It's just what I want: an urban crossover bike with moderate off-road capabilities. They will sell more of these than those lame Roamers, that's for sure.

    Yup totally agree, and with that first multi colored version that’s been circulating, has been getting a lot of interest

    And that press gets people into the dealer. So the V7lll and V85 might just help the surviving dealers.

     

    There is a surviving dealer in east Tennessee? Chattanooga?

  10. I will be scolded for this but oh well.

    I bought a sport with the Ti kit, coming from a Carbon FBF system I found them loud. Bought a Exan Carbon Fiber kit on eBay at half the price. Really nice built more of a winter project but can’t wait to install and hear them.

    It looks very nice, white with the black block. I think its not original, when i check at the recall site of Moto Guzzi it sais Light Green. And that said the green ones only have red frames? But any way it’s drives great....... thanks for the welcome.

    The early "bright" green were all short RedFrame (1999-2001) with silver driveline. Yours is a long frame (2002 or "hold-over" 2003?) that likely started as this shade of green:
