  1. Thanks for that clarification - I missed that detail and it left me scratching my head. __Jason
  2. This old post actually has a diagram showing the headlight relay bypassing the starter relay: EDIT: however, that diagram looks very wonky to me... it bears almost no similarity to the factory wiring schematic, so I'm not sure I would trust it as any sort of reference. HOWEVER, if the drawing in that post is meant to illustrate result of modified wiring, then I would be wary that something similar may have happened to Kane's bike, which is to say, I would be cautious "fixing" that one connection on relay #1 without being sure other things weren't shifted around as well. __Jason
  3. Raising the kickstand closes the circuit, which I believe then energizes the run/off switch, so worst case... you just cut the switch off and splice the ends together. * I'm 99% sure of this... the wiring schematic is clear as mud to me. __Jason
  4. Daytonas and Sport 1100 also had auto-retracting stands, as can be seen in the attached photo. This is the same type of stand I have on my V11S now, due to the standard V11 stand not fitting the deep-V sump. Personally, I do not like the auto-retract feature - especially due to the fact that I live in a city where the odds of someone (either intentionally or otherwise) bumping your bike could result in the sidestand retracting unexpectedly and the bike falling over. Instead, I'm in the habit of reaching down and raising/lowering the sidestand by-hand, which allows me to guide the spring past the bolt head where it usually catches. PITA? A bit... but I'm used to it. __Jason
  5. The sidestand I have does auto-retract... but I generally defeat that by putting it down by hand and allowing the spring to bypass the bit its normally supposed to catch on. I've gotten pretty good at double (and triple) checking before I set off. But, I certainly understand the concern. There have been times in the past where I forgot... briefly... until getting an uncomfortable, but harmless reminder, which is why I'm quite paranoid about it now. As for the oil cooler, I was happy to see it go. No issues so far, including being stuck in stop-n-go traffic on a hot day. And my engine is... shall we say, "hotter than stock". But yes, that was the message I definitely wanted to convey. They are not "plug-n-play", and there are trade-offs. One very big benefit, however, is that you would need to run the oil extremely low before you start risking cavitation. I know things such as the Roper plate help address that as well, though. The oil sight glass window is a nice-to-have feature as well __Jason
  6. It sounds like a short. I've never poked around at one close enough to see how serviceable that is, though. __Jason
  7. I haven't personally dealt with either, but these are the links I got: https://bikescreen.com/products/moto-guzzi-magni https://www.airtech-streamlining.com/moto-guzzi-fairings-seats-fenders-parts/motoguzzilemans.htm Otherwise, might want to reach out to Agostini in Italy, or Magni directly. I think I originally got my fairing kit via Agostini, if memory serves. __Jason
  8. Re: the deep V sump One other detail I forgot to mention... if you do install such a sump, the stock V11S sidestand doesn't work great. You *can* use it... temporarily, and I did for a while... but it loses one of the mounting points, and it puts undue strain on the sidestand bracket, which eventually could fail, which... you don't want. I used the stock sidestand only long enough to source a different one (from a wrecked Daytona, if memory serves). And to complicate things a bit further, once you install an older sidestand (on the older-style V sump), you now lose any ability to fit the sidestand safety switch. I retained my sidestand switch, but put it in the "up" position, and zip-tied it up out of the way. So, effectively, no more safety switch for me. Which means, you need to become religious about checking and re-checking your sidestand position before taking off, unless the sidestand is also auto-retracting... which I dislike. OK, back to posting "no words" in this thread __Jason
  9. Yeah, that's for their progressive (or whatever term they use to describe it). Their linear one is somewhat cheaper. But yeah... spendy. __Jason
  10. Also, noticed that GTM is offering a steering damper from Matris: https://gtmotocycles.com/collections/suspension/products/matris-steering-damper-kit?variant=14327859380267 __Jason
  11. Oh, I'm well aware. The fundamental problem with that is, if you don't have solid data on what needs to be changed and why (such as, from a lambda sensor), you're just going to be blindly turning knobs, and generally not much good comes of that. In theory, my bike should benefit from timing changes as well (which the PCIII can't do), but again... where and how much? Let me get out my crystal ball... An experienced tuner might know where to begin, but... I'm not that __Jason

    Tekno Bags

That's a tempting offer! In my case, I already have an aging and somewhat frayed set, that for the time being, is still quite usable. So I'll step back and give others a chance to make a claim. If my experiment in finding a 3rd-party brand of luggage to mount on the OEM frames using the readily available KlickFix mounting hardware pans out, then then those frames may be the most valuable part of the entire kit (personally, I found the Guzzi-supplied OEM frames to be *much* more aesthetically pleasing than any of the aftermarket hardware). Cheers! __Jason
  13. Just curious... has anyone ever installed a 15RC (and lambda sensor) on a bike originally equipped with a 15M? My bike has a fair bit of engine work (ports, cam, hi-comp pistons...) and it runs with a 15M + Power Commander map that was generated for a somewhat similar bike, but not specifically for *my* bike. I've sort of wished that I could chuck the PCIII and go with a properly flashed (closed loop) system instead, but short of Cliff Jefferies My15m ECU, I didn't know if there were any other viable options. __Jason
  14. And more info regarding the Hyperpro from here on the forum: Still not clear if anything extra needs to be ordered, besides the damper itself. __Jason
  15. I did find this regarding the Hyperpro, which say's it's for the V11 Sport: https://www.brooksuspension.co.uk/moto-guzzi-v11-sport-hyperpro-rsc-steering-damper-97/ What I'm not sure of at the moment is, if I need a "fitting kit", or if this is a drop-in replacement using the original mounting bracket on the bike. Note: they Hyperpro has options for linear and progressive dampers. The one linked above is the progressive one, which is probably the one I would prefer if I have the choice. __Jason
  16. Given that I've owned my Sport for ~20 years now, I'm thinking of refreshing some of the original bits, such as the steering damper as well. At the moment, I'm looking at these: https://hyperpro.com/steering-dampers/ But just need to figure out which model will work for the '00 Sport. __Jason
  17. Thanks! Yeah, I love that photo. Taken under the Ben Franklin Bridge in Philadelphia. __Jason
  18. Not entirely sure. MG Cycle still shows it as a special order item: http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=5031 I read something about Moto Spezial going defunct and production of the sump being picked up by another company, perhaps these guys: http://radicalguzzi.com/motor_getriebe# (scroll down on the page and you'll find the sump). One thing to keep in mind if you pursue it is... you must be willing to discard your oil cooler, as there is no way to connect it to this sump. However, this sump hold a greater volume than stock, and has more surface area for cooling. Also, I had to get someone to fabricate an adapter for the oil breather return on the rear of the sump as the V11 return and the sump (which was originally designed for earlier models) have different sized connections. __Jason
  19. For mine, I kept the tail stock, but removed the hugger/fender/whatever you want to call it that was concealing the swingarm (which was also powder coated to match the rest of the frame, because they didn't think to do that at the factory... I guess because they didn't expect anyone to see it ). I do have a small plastic mud guard mounted up above the front of the rear tire (hard to see) which helps prevent crud from flying up towards the engine. Someone was selling those guards years ago, but I don't recall who/where. __Jason

    Tekno Bags

My Tekno bags are also starting to look rough. I've had to stitch them up a bit, and they are starting to look a bit Frankenstein-ish, so I'm starting to look at alternatives for replacement. I recently bought a set of the mounts by themselves: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JO0W6OU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Now I'm hunting around for a set of bags to attach them to. I could have also just simply removed the mounts from my original bags, but... they still have a bit of life left in them, and I don't really want to mess around with them until I know I have a good replacement lined up. If anyone has suggestions for good (size-appropriate) bags or cases that might work with these mounts, I'm open to suggestions. At the moment, these are a contender: https://cariboucases.com/Cases-Only/Pair-of-Pelican-25-Liter-Cases-with-Lid-Lock-Lid-Lanyards-and-Retention-Straps.html __Jason

    Tekno Bags

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread, but... in case anyone else has this question, I recently had a chance to try the Griso bags on the OEM V11 Sport/Le Mans brackets. SPOILER ALERT... they don't work. The mounts are the same, no issue there. The problem is that the Griso bags are taller, and simply don't clear the V11 exhaust. Not even close. __Jason
  22. The one linked upthread at AF1 says it works with: '07-'15 Shiver, '18 Shiver 900, '98-'03 Mille, Mille-R, '02-'05 Tuono, '00-'03 Falco, '01-'07 Caponord, '01-'04 Futura. I just ordered one, and also 1 each of the "Micro" and "Sport" tank bags. The Micro is the one I would expect to use primarily - I really just want something big enough to carry my flat tire kit and maybe a a few other sundry items. Looks perfect. __Jason
  23. Much thanks, folks! I figured the chin pad might make for a snug fit, so I'll keep that in mind. __Jason
  24. For example: https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sw-motech-quick-lock-evo-tankring-adapter-kit Or any of the similar ones from other companies. My 20 year old Moto Guzzi bag that I got with the bike has been starting to fray, and I've already had to sew up a blown seam. Starting to explore my options. My assumption is that there must be an adapter out there such as these which will fit the V11 Sport, even though the manufacturer doesn't list one. Hoping someone here might know. Thanks! __Jason
