Are you sure you fixed the kill switch issue? I had a broken kill switch wire on the Ducati which made the bike stumble as if it were running out of gas - but only when I turned the bike to the left. That was fun to troubleshoot. __Jason

Compared to your 2000 Sport, the "Naked" will have a slightly longer wheelbase - I believe the steering geometry is slightly changed. __Jason

No toungue in cheek, but I do have a somethin' in somethin'. Will this work?: __Jason

So, with more or less stock gear ratios, it did 197 MPH while the engine was "loping along"? Explain that one to me. And speaking of gears, where's the gearbox? Do they haul it in a trailer behind the bike? April 1st was last month. __Jason

If these things had a clutch throwout bearing, I'd say yours would probably need to be replaced. The V11 sport variants don't have these, right? Correct me if I'm wrong. In other words, I have no idea what may be causing that sound. The aftermarket clutch on my Ducati groans when I engage it in 1st, and the clutch in my MINI does the same (usually when the weather's cold), but my Guzzi clutch is relatively quiet, except for a slight rattle when it's disengaged. __Jason

I'd be curious to hear how this goes, as this is something I've often wondered about. Long ago, I purchases an adjustable fuel pressure regulator from evoluzione.net (I think they actually sold some Guzzi bits at that time). Anyway, they indicated that the fuel system on the Guzzi was the same on some Aprilias, and those were known to deviate wildly from spec, hence their aftermarket solution. I never got around to installing it prior to my bike going in for the "never-ending rebuild" project. Now that the bike is back, its running so nice that I'm reluctant to mess with anything. Even if the stock regulator on my bike is correct, I'm still tempted to put the adjustable one on, just so I *know* it's correct. Or, I guess I could probably figure out how to fit the gauge from the kit with the stock regulator just to see what it's doing. __Jason

Nice. I need to work on my reflexes. Such notions usually come to me after the fact when its too late to act on them. __Jason -
MAKE ME WANT TO HIT SOMEBODY

Yesterday, a friend of mine was on his bike (with his fiancee) and stopped at a red light intersection. Well, when the light turned green, in stead of proceeding forward, the SUV immediately in front of him decided to throw it into reverse and try backing into a parking space on the side of the road, with predictable results to the front of my friends K75. Fortunately, the bike took the brunt and they got out of it OK. Shit can - and frequently does - happen. And just when you think you've got all your bases covered, the enemy comes at your from a completely different direction. Sigh. Heads up, rubber down... __Jason -
I can also attest to bouncing properties of Guzzis. When I low-sided back in ought-2, I did learn a good lesson: carry an extra plug and cap - just in case. I had to ride around for a day with this held together with black electrical tape until I could find replacements: EDIT: I also learned that proper safety gear can be the difference between taping your bike together and continuing your trip, or taking a helicopter ride to the hospital. Gear is good. Glad I had it. __Jason

Least credible survey ever. Well done everyone! __Jason

Yeah, good thread. I like learning about the multitude of new and different ways I can screw up my bike. BTW, the "other final drive" at the shop that you mentioned in the first post was most likely mine... __Jason

When you opened the cap to put gas in, did you notice any "woosh" of air rushing in? That would be a pretty good indicator of tank suck. __Jason

It would appear not. Different frame: __Jason

Tool Quiz * (?)

I was going to say helmet lock cable. I got the something similar with my Monster. As for the shrink tubing, it looks to me like the person putting it together, umm... measured once and cut twice - in stead of the other way around. Must have had an extra half bottle of wine during lunch. __Jason -
The one that's occasionally been known to... um, explode... __Jason

I always thought the empty space under the tank would be excellent for running drugs. However, the engine heat could make for a hilarious "Cheech & Chong" type moment if you get stopped by the cops... __Jason

Well, obviously that's Guzzi's top-secret new MotoGP bike. ... or not. __Jason

Would that be an anti-bodge? Seriously, I'm not sure if this would work or not. My bike was on the bench for so long, it's been a *really* long time since I've attempted to lube the shaft. My memory is fuzzy, but from what I recall, a long needle w/ an angled tip would have made short work of it. __Jason

I looked at their site (http://www.macnaughtusa.com/mn_acc_couopler.html) and see they also have a 12" needle with a 45-degree bend at the tip (KZLN). Wouldn't the 45-degree bend allow you to get to the problem fitting *without* having to take off the rear end? __Jason

I really like the looks of this bike. My wife hasn't been totally thrilled with the MZ (I love it, however). I've been thinking about looking at getting her something different to ride, along the lines of a Bonnie. I think this V7 Classic is much nicer looking than the Bonnie, however. Power and weight wise, the V7 is virtually identical to the MZ. If the small block Guzzi runs smoother than the MZ thumper, that might be a good selling point for my wife. At any rate, I'd love to take one for a test ride... __Jason

Throttle Body. __Jason

My thoughts exactly. I've had that happen more than once. __Jason

TPS's have been known to fail. If you can't get a reading off of it no matter what you do, then it could very well be dead. __Jason

I have a vague recollection from my youth of a riding lawn mower that my family had. I seem to recall it had a rabbit icon on the choke knob. Or maybe it was the throttle? Oh, hell... I don't remember. Perhaps it simply deployed a rabbit-sized cowcatcher on the front of the mower... __Jason
