  4. Hi Soren, petrol not a problem (if you have deep pockets ).My gearbox is fixed,I catch the ferry tomorrow AM,(a day later than planned).Hoping to hook up with Jaap and Anton somewhere en route.See you there!!
  5. I agree with Ratch and John, the Metz Z6 is a perfect compromise between grip and wear on these bikes. I am however currently running a Michelin on the rear (I know, never mix tyres ) but it was free and we Yorkshiremen aren't renowned for parting with our money! I must say it gets a bit slidey at the limit though...But I do have a new Z6 on the shelf ready to fit.
  6. Watchmaker!?Watches have springs dont they?Dont talk to me about springs......
  7. Not such a big package really. There is an engine on display in the Guzzi museum in Mandello and I had to fight the urge to slip it into my rucksack....
  8. Riding home on one of the faster roads up here (60 mph),saw a VW Golf turn off right into a lane about a quarter of a mile ahead. Didn't see her stick it in reverse till she backed straight out across the road in front of me. Then it was one of those "car or ditch?" moments....I chose the ditch...Should have gone for the car (I was riding the Ural ) Couple of Chinese tourists, they were "Velly solly, will pay for damage....."
  9. I'll be there even if I have to walk,hitch-hike,or come on the Ural.......... (gearbox spring not arrived yet ,some online ordering cockup-then the bank holiday of course. Should be here by the weekend-I hope!!!)

    Hello All

Hi Bandito. Take a chance!!!I bought mine without riding one, made the ride home to Orkney into a 1300 mile holiday and fell in love with it!The more you ride one the better it gets,I dont think a quick spin would be enough to get to know what these bikes are capable of.I wouldn't part with mine at gunpoint (even though its currently sitting in my garage waiting for a gearbox spring....)
  11. Have a good weekend Guy. I'll be busy replacing the effing gearbox pawl spring which broke today....
  12. Sadly not so cheap anymore.A new Ural is now in the same price range as a Harley Sportster! This is partly due to the adoption of "superior"western components (mine has Paoli forks,Keihin carbs,Denso alternator etc) but there has been a rash of failures of German gear clusters.....
  13. Hey,what about Toseland? Give the boy a faster bike and see him on the podium!
  14. Its OK here Antonio, the bloody wind keeps most of the fog away....
  15. Because the sun doesn't always shine........ Black Forest scenic highway-around 35 miles of this crap. Never saw a thing....
  16. Great mag! Spy vs Spy,always funny, got a paperback collection of those strips somewhere...Ever seen the Freak brothers comics?Damn funny hippies, and Fat Freddies cat-brilliant!!
  17. Could it be the sidestand cutout? Does the pump start with the stand up?
  18. Yes,the later ones do it too. I've drilled a hole in mine but it still does the same thing. I wonder why its only the tach and not the speedo?I don't worry about it though, it's just another Guzzi quirk.
  19. The Ken Bridge rally is in New Galloway, if you come up here you'll miss it... Look up the UK v11 rally thread in Meetings,Clubs and Events. Hope to see you there!
  20. O.K. Antonio,my bike is REEALLY Filthy, where do i find the girls?? (or do they only "work" on Morinis?)
