Not unless your a very, very wee man. As Paul says depends on your weight but chances are the rear spring is too soft & suspension is harsh cos of excessive damping. I'd be surprised if the answer isn't more spring & less damping on the rear. What do you weigh? Have you set sag? What are your preload/damping settings F & R? KB

What does the bearing spacer you have measure? KB

I put in Ferodo Platinum pads. They bite better than std pads, dunno about wear. Dunno how much better these brakes could be, feel is good, they stop well, limiting factor to hard braking is tyre grip & weight of bike. Better brakes would give same power for less lever pressure, & even more feel? Dunno - I never had better! KB

Take care to measure exactly the distance between the housing faces in the hub. You can lay a short straight edge across faces on one side & measure to other with Vernier depth gauge. My spacer was about 1mm short. KB

Belfast, sorry mate - I am here but i'd left ansafon on cos I'm antisocial & i was watching a video of Jerez - didn't know it was you or i'd've picked up. The bearings can be drifted out. The first one's always a bit of a pig. I have a selection of long bolts,tubes etc that I use (with a big hammer) - gotta find something that'll get a purchase on the bearing inner. You can only get a slight edge so it's a bit tricky. If you wedge the drift at an angle against the other bearing with a piece of wood so's it can't slip sideways you should be able to get a good whack on it. Work it all around. Support the wheel firmly on lumps of wood or something. I didn't heat mine, but I once used towels soaked in boiling water to warm up a hub to get bearings in. I remember someone here I think talked of making a simple tool to get wheel bearings out, it sounded like a good idea but I forget the details, who, where & what...? Belfast, 1 - Yes, the bearing spacer in the hub on mine was about 1mm too short. 2 - Far as i know the flanges are simply there to locate spacer in hub to aid axle fitting. I cut a piece of tube to correct length & didn't bother with flanges. It is slightly more difficult to fit axle but I figured it would be easier to replace bearings if spacer could be pushed aside. Obviously tube has to be snug fit on axle. If you do this, make sure you put decent bevels on spacer edges to help axle locate. Flanges will press off tube if you want to use them. 3 - No need to remove hub centre. Before fitting I put new bearings in freezer for a while, go in easier. 4 - Dunno Is your bike still under warranty? I got parts on warranty - I think Guzzi know the issue. I have a new Guzzi bearing spacer here. I was going to hang on to it but will send if you're stuck. Only thing is - check measurements as there's no guarantee it'll fit!!! Give us a ring if you want. Dan, There have been some people had oil starvation under hard acceleration as oil in sump surges leaving pick up sucking air. For this reason I keep oil level up to max. KB

Weir, If this has just started since a rebuild then as suggested you should check all fastenings, s/a pivots, etc... ...but...Are you on stock rear spring? Have you set sag for front & rear? I weigh 220lb w/gear for that weight Scura needs stiffer springs. I put in 10Kg f & 100Kg rear (as I remember std are 8.5/85) & am thinking of going stiffer again on the rear. When I got it the bike would sit up & head straight on if it hit a bump mid corner, was awful. Wanted to chuck you out of the seat. Would also drift wide out of corners. Sounds to me like you have same problem. Highsiding refers to when rear loses then regains traction under power & chucks rider over the highside - think there's some confusion over terminology here....I don't think this is what you're describing? Anyhow as Guzzirider suggested above you could probably get some relief by upping rear preload, & tweaking damping but if this is the problem, the only way to sort it properly is to put in correct springs for your weight (to get correct sag on std springs I had to up fork preload to half turn off max). you could mark the dipstick so's it could be read on sidestand? I just hold bike upright. I know the std plastic dipstick's a pain, better ones are available & search for threads on here about sanding it etc to ease reading. KB

I had some short open reverse cone megas on my LM11 for a while, that was good for a BLAT...then a crossbow system...many years of happy BLATting & when the baffles blew out of the Lafranconis that brought some happy BLATS too...used to go for a THRASH sometimes too. Now I like the quiet life, just the ringing in me ears spoils the silence KB
