  1. Oops  sorry about the pictures. Me and IT just don't go together :homer:

    I'll sort them out tomorrow....

Yep, well was it you when we introduced told me you responded to some of my posts?.

Yes Alex - that was me

  2. Hi Alex - we arrived back in the UK yesterday after a superb 12 day tour. It was great to meet both V11 and Breva forum members at the GMG as planned. A selection of my pictures can be found here.

  3. We arrive in Rotterdam on Saturday morning (9th) to start our trip to Mandello, via Germany and Austria. We'll still be at the Norge poster (on foot :)) outside the :mg: factory gate at 12.00 noon, Saturday 16th.

  4. KR Green 1999/2000: actually 62000 km, valves adjusted once a year, engine/drive-train no recall, still working fine !

KR Green 1999: 76,000 km, valves adjusted once a year, all engine/drive train recalls done, still working fine! :mg::)

I'm a bit late to this topic but the 'soft valves' story has been in the back of mind for sometime and I was going to have the heads refurbished this coming winter just as a precaution. It would appear that the old adage of 'if ain't boken don't fix it 'applies here.............

  5. Chris, I would love to, but I am afraid I have to travel alone and no me gusta mucho.

Besides, I have to repair the gearbox, it is leaking oil, damn  and I better spare the money to do it.

Anyway, have a good time there and take it easy with the grappa :P

Awwwww man! Jane will be disappointed :D, with the exception of Frankie Chili you're her favourite Italian :helmet:.......

  6. Have seen lots of pics of the meeting and I recon these days It would be imposible to find space in that point

Pehaps a parking lot or a gas station in the near could be easier.

To clarify - I should have stated that we would meet on foot at the Norge poster. As you correctly pointed out Alex, there's no way we'll be able to park there. We'll be parked in the bike park opposite the factory.

At least there'll be three v11lemans.com members at the meeting point 12.00 noon Saturday - myself, Jane and Jaap.

Antonio are you making the trip to Mandello?

  7. Al - I can't really speak with any authority on the later 'black engined' models but my (classic :P) 1999 V11 has covered 48,000 miles without any major problems.

  8. I bought the Abba stand described above back in 1999 when I got the V11 and can highly recommend it. It's easy to use, doesn't mark the swinging arm chrome nuts and provides a stable platform when tinkering :luigi:

  9. Our hotel in Mandello del Lario - Al Verde - had one double and one single room available at lunchtime today (UK time) so if anyone is still chasing accommodation give them a ring on 00 39 0341 735 104.

  10. I guess all local Mandello accommodation will be fully booked up by now - perhaps searching for hotels in Lecco or Como might prove fruitful.

As for recognising each other on Saturday 16th.....I'll be wearing a red V11lemans.com t-shirt and I'm 6ft 3" tall (1.92m) with blond hair. I'll also have one trouser leg rolled up and have a pink carnation :D.....

  11. How about meeting up at the Guzzi factory at 12.00 noon on Saturday 16th September?

I propose meeting at the Norge poster located to the left of the main entrance, as shown in this photograph:

I've also posted the same idea on the :mg: Breva/Griso web site - but don't let that put you off :)

  12. Hi Dave

Yes, we went to Lotherton Hall so it would have been my V11, parked next to my wife Jane's Nevada. Funny thing is we walked around the bike park and noticed your V11 - small world isn't it :D.

The event at East Kirkby was a great success - despite the weather to and from the location. Almost everyone got a soaking :bbblll:. This was the fifth year we've held our main event there but the first time we've invited European V-twins. The Ducati clubs in particular did us proud.

  13. 212 bikes - 81 Buell - approx. 60 Ducati - approx. 12 Moto Guzzi and £400 raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Charity. Despite the thunderstorms that most of us rode through, the weather for the event itself was very good. An excellent day .

The Moto Guzzi Club GB web site has a good selection of pictures from the event http://www.motoguzziclub.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=124

BTW it is my V11 in the pictures - my Buell S1's battery had expired in the recent hot weather...

  14. What a brilliant weeks holiday, one of the very best! Not one drop of rain from start to finish, though it was a bit too hot at times with 33 deg C :sun:.

Jane and I arrived home this morning at 9.50am after another smooooth ferry crossing - no lumpy sea conditions this time :vomit:.

We visited Hockenheim on Monday 12th as arranged with Jens Hofmann of Dynotec and spent a very enjoyable afternoon watching some very tasty Italian bikes thundering around.

Race Guzzilla having his battery charged in the paddock and Jens about to take him out for a blast.

On Tuesday 13th we visited Dynotec's workshops and I was lucky enough to ride the street version of Guzzilla, a V12 Centauro, a very special one-off Guzzi and a Quota.

My favourite bike was this silver bike worth 32,000 euro :o..... It was everything a Guzzi should be. 118 BHP and 120 NM combined with light weight and Ohlins (the forks are Triumph with Ohlins internals) suspension - what a machine! The petrol tank is hand-made in Berlin by a guy who restores Bugatti's. The engine is Dynotec V11 Sport unit with modified 5-speed gearbox. It was a dream to ride and I want one.....

Jens showed us around the engine workshop and explained how they modify Mandello's rather basic design. Their V11 'Torque Kit' costs 1250 euro or 1700 euro with twin-spark. After riding the silver bike it's something I'd like to have done to my V11.

After touring the Black Forest we headed up to the Oldtimer Cafe to meet old and new friends at the V11 Treffen. A fitting end to the holiday. We had a great time and it was good to meet Jaap, Antonio and Martin again - we haven't laughed so much for ages... :bier:.
