  1. Just wait till these Brevas and Grosses are 5 years old and all the chrome has fallen off, and the "CARC" has croaked. That will wipe the smiles from faces of Goffredo, V11UK and mdude's modernist faces.

Oh yee of little faith :D:P:mg:.

  2. After living with a Breva 1100 for 2 months and 4300 miles I can safely say that it is a 'real Guzzi' - albeit a properly designed one that works :). It's a great all-rounder with plenty of power for real-world riding. It is smoother and more refined than a V11 but retains that unique Guzzi feel. I like the Breva's styling, it's modern, smooth and of a very high quality :mg: .

Chill out and stop knocking Moto Guzzi, be thankful they're still in business  .......

  3. I would happily bring my V11, let us know what is happening and will try to sort time off.

    Cheers Gary

No problem Gary. I'll put a notice in the meetings section in due course and ask Jaap to 'pin' it :D:mg:.

  4. Our main annual Buell event is held at this Lancaster Centre. Next years event will be held on a Saturday in July - date TBA. Jane and I have been members of this Centre for years and they allow us to use a section of the WW2 airfield next to the control tower to display the bikes. We have a Spitfire flying display and Lancaster bomber taxi-run during the event.

Would UK based V11 owners like to come along as guests? A line up of Buell's and V11's would look pretty good :P:.

  5. To be held once again at the Spean Bridge Hotel over the weekend of 19th/20th/21st May 2006.

    Location details: Spean Bridge Hotel

This is a biker-friendly establishment with a full range of accommodation available. This includes en-suite rooms, chalets and bunkhouses. The beer and food is superb :bier::food:. Fantastic roads right on the doorstep :bike:.

We have special rates for the weekend - please quote 'Buell Group' when booking. Your contact is Margaret Short.

  6. My first bike  - New Suzuki GT125 27th June 1975. A pleasant enough machine that took me all over the place in all weathers. It didn't have the performance edge that Kawasaki's and Yamaha's offered but it was a good introduction to motorcycling.

  7. Oi! we resemble that remark Jaap :P. I guess most of us are in our forties and can (just about) remember the 1970's when we started riding bikes. Aye, them were the days..........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz :)

Totally off topic, at the show yesterday was this rather nice Ducati:

  8. Two strokes - remember them? At the Classic Mechanics Show in Stafford today the Yamaha RD Club celebrated the fact that the RD range is 25 years old this year. Suddenly I feel very old :( .

  9. Chill out guys - I can't see what all the fuss is about :huh2:. Too much negativity.

Some of you seem to have condemned the Breva/Griso transmission before its had a chance. Have a little faith  - the new engine/transmission has undergone extensive testing after all. I've certainly no worries about it :bike::mg:.

  10. Breva V1100 and V11 Sport - most of the replies have hit the nail squarely on the head. Being lucky enough to own both I can appreciate why some V11 owners don't like the new Breva - which is a 'roadster' rather than a 'sports' model.

In best road test stylee, marks out of 10 for both bikes:

    Performance: Breva = 8. V11 = 10.

    Style: Breva = 7. V11 = 10.

    Comfort: Breva = 10. V11 = 7.

    Design/function: Breva = 10. V11 = 6.

    Quality/finish: Breva = 10. V11 = 6.

    Character: Breva = 5. V11 = 10.

    Garage-look-back-ability: Breva = 8. V11 = 15 (:D)

If I could only have one bike it would be the V11 Sport that I have now - it is raw and quirky (a bit like the Buell) and just has so much character....

  11. Martin, I'm just starting to put together next years Buell events for the UK Buell Enthusiasts Group and may do a specific :mg: V11 UK event. Ideally at a location with rooms and camping so everyone is taken care of. I should have everything sorted by the end of November latest and will post accordingly.

We visited the German V11 event at the Oldtimer Cafe in 2003 and enjoyed it very much - although we didn't stay at the actual location. I've booked early to make sure we have a room in the inn . They also have a small field for camping.

This particular part of Germany is beautiful and the roads are brilliant :bike: plus it's an easy days ride from any of the Dutch ports.

  12. v50man - if you want a Buell that bad, then buy one. You won't regret it - follow your heart. The XB series are pretty reliable and can be considered a more finished product than the 'tube-framed' S1/S2/S3/M2/X1 series. Having said that, my S1 has had no major issues in 21,500 miles.

Buell and Moto Guzzi appeal to me because of their 'feel', uniqueness, style and character. Both marques have that certain 'something' which has been engineered out of the machines sold by the mainstream volume manufacturers.
