  1. +1 on the Roper plate ... these bikes can/should be ridden hard and starvation is a bad thing ... increases the oil capacity also. Gio
  2. Looks really good ... having just replaced my tach, speedo crapped out (again) ... tends to make you look at little closer at the alternatives (although I still like the classic look of stock gauges) ... the NA website indicates pricing of ~US$500 (plus $45 for the bracket) ... what would you say your total cost in GBP was Cabernet ..? Total installation / fettle time (excluding the anodising part)? I also like the batt voltage feature and would be ok with setting a warning distance re fuel - I find this to be quite constant and generally fill up when my trip reaches the 200km mark and then re-set. I'm thinking you could rig the existing low- fuel warning light separately (?) if that was a big concern - electron gurus like Roy may have comments or advise on that ..? Gio
  3. I cut mine back and drilled the airbox at the same time. It may, or may not, run better ... but sure sounds like it does!
  4. Your measured voltages look ok lemppari ... and similar to what I have measured on many occaisions - I have experienced what you describe for more years than I can remember and never had a problem with the battery ... so I have concluded that the charge light exists in some kind of alternate universe and no longer worry about it. Adding the extra ground did not change the behaviour in my case. The oil light would be a different story ... Gio
  5. +1 on that Roy ... I think Gord put the prototype on his Sport and I got the first "production" badge when I got the Mistrals fitted ... maybe there's a bigger market for him out there ..? Gio
  6. It does sound electrical from what you describe - 6k is relatively close to the rev limiter (who sets that - the tach or the ecu ??) but you say you can power through the glitch. That would also suggest fuel delivery is ok ..?
  7. With bike on centre stand and after an over-night drain, I find 0.75 l will fill to half-way up the glass - but this using shockproof heavy which tends to stick to all the surfaces (probably a good thing) ... ie drain/re-fill volume may be closer to 0.85 with other flavours. Gio
  8. I just use a general purpose grease on the shaft (access can be tricky - rear wheel off and a custom bend on a grease gun tip helps with one of the zerks), Redline shockproof heavy in the tranny, and MG final drive (with Moly)in the rear ... Gio
  9. Flasher is located under the seat on the left side - just behind the battery (see pic) - I replaced mine a few years ago. Giio
  10. Thanks for the tip Tom - I did check MG Cycle and they had stock ($26 ea I believe ie $52/pair) but shipping/taxes into Canada would probably double that, so I found a set of Athena at a local Yamaha dealer for $15 / pair (in stock) - my Guzzi dealer out west said that these should work fine. Gio
  11. I would say go with the 90 if not too late - as you can see from my pics, and as you probably already know, the cable runs very close to the Magni bracket (I use a large zip tie loop as stress relief to avoid this) and so anything less than 90 would make that problem worse (with a Magni at least) ..? Gio
  12. Called my original dealer in western Canada yesterday - original spec on the seals is apparently 40 x 52 x 9.5mm and run ~$26 ea (no stock) but they suggested Athena (sp?) offer a 40 x 52.2 x 8-10.5mm in the after market which run around $23 / pair and should be more readily available ...
  13. Indeed. What I can also speculate (given that I have had no angle drive issues and others including yourself have), is that the 90 may hold-up better than the 60's ..? Magni may still be a source (there was a member who was just in touch for a fairing recently?) but would be $$ to ship fo NA.
  14. Ah, the mist is clearing now - I didn't realise that I had something special in that 90 angle drive ... (or that I had three angle drives to be quite honest)
  15. I thought simaster was asking about the angle of the change in direction in the drive (which is 90) - I'm not sure I understand the 60 part ?
  16. Yes - there was a problem on the forum which is now fixed - a lot of posts were lost ... and yes, the angle is 90 degrees - here is a shot taken from the other (right) side ... Gio
  17. Now that Jaap has had the forum gremlins removed (there was a chunk of this thread that disappaeared) and further to the question of the upper angle drive (for docc in particular) - here is a pic of the set-up with a Magni fairing as viewed from the left side - the angle screws directly onto the output of the speedo via the knurled nut. I also add some stress relief (large zip tie) about 6 inches from the upper end of the cable to prevent the cable rubbing on the Magni bracket at full lock. Gio
  18. I'm replacing my fork oil and decided that it was probably a good idea to replace the seals as they are the originals ... no leakage, but with ~95,000 km figure it's just a matter of time. In searching the forum I saw earemikes reference to seals from Yamaha fitting his forks (Ohlins) and as I also do not have the luxury of a local Guzzi dealer wondered if anyone know of an alternative to the factory seals on the 40mm Marz units ..? I have also read some comments that a seal installer makes things easier - but it's a one-time job and hoping I can get by without? ... comments from anyone whose worked on the 40mm Marzcchi's specifically would be much appreciated. Gio
  19. So, simaster ... wrong cable as you had suspected ..?
  20. Hi simaster - and fellow green meanie owner! Just doing this same job (and others) and have some info + pics that might help. Replacement cable part # 1760430 "TRASMISSIONE". Both ends have an id of 15mm - "bellows" end goes to the speedo (via an angle adapter with magni fairing) and the other plain end to the transmission take off (via stock angle) ... Hope this helps. Gio

    Magni fairing

Morgy - can't seem to find the paperwork now, but from memory I purchased the fairing in 2001 (yikes - 13 years ago ...) and back then I think payment would have been via international money order. There was also customs duty etc payable upon receipt (in Canada). I will confirm if I find the file. Gio

    Running GREAT!

Going through a similarly intense interlude myself (new speedo cable, usual valve adjust, plugs, fork oil replacement, brake pads front and back, fork oil, clutch and brake fluid, replacement tach (thanks again to Kiwi Roy for sending me his old one) and last, but by no means least, brand new anodiised red caps for the reservoirs (just arrived today) as my nod to the gods of bling ... Roll on spring - starts tomorrow apparently ... life is good! Gio
  23. Docc - thought you may have taken up on this ..? Or are you still contemplating your few remaining ugly parts ..?

    Magni fairing

Indeed. I dealt with Magni directly ... expensive, yes ... but everything went well and I remain very pleased / satisfied with my fairing. Docc - it is even more beautifull than in your imagination ... Welcome to our world morgy - happy to answer any further questions you may have. PS - no, this Gio is Canadian ..!
