  1. Recently (last weekend) had this occur on my '03 as well. Issue cropped up outta no where.   Manually vented it for the ride, waiting for it to get back above 50 before I go pull the tank and investigate.  Haven't noted any damage to tank yet, but man, that tank can hold A LOT of vacuum, almost scary when I open the fuel hatch.

  2. Just recently (Oct. 2012) purchased an '03 Le Mans for 55th Birthday present (to myself  ).  Love it, will never sell it...Have to remind myself often of my age and to slow it down a bit on the back roads.  Did 140 miles on Sunday with a friend, when I got back home my wife asked me why I was smiling so much.  Told her I was ready for another 140.  Many happy miles to be had there Mate!  Ride safe and Enjoy!

  3. my son called me "traitor" when he first saw it

    Traitor or tractor ...?

Ha, "traitor" because I had it in the garage, was working on it, he comes around corner, hears country music playing and finds a Harley. He's a Yamaha R6 track rider... and all we have owned to date were jap bikes (besides my 73 Eldo) dirt riding and street and I usually listen to the latest rock/hard rock/blues. Told him "just tryin' something different!"

  4. Here's a pic of my '73 Eldorado taken in 1980, shortly after I rode it back from Idaho to Virginia. I still have the bike, with a couple of others taking up garage space as well. Am planning to restore it (on the lift now) after talking to Cycle Garden for a shoot from the hip estimate (ouch, I am not rich!). Will use this thread to update progress over the long haul.

Also riding a 03 LeMans and 07 Street Glide.

And last but not least, one bike I thought I would never own (my son called me "traitor" when he first saw it :)

Nice ride. I'm trying to carve out some time/money and repaint my '74 Eldo. They are great motorbikes.

Yeah, wish I could paint, never been very successful at it. It's ridiculous what a good bike paint job costs. Can barely draw stickmen without drafting equipment:)

  8. Vise Grip jaws worked great, pre-set opening so nothing was crushed, worked well as leverage tool once the fuel line pressure bled down (after running and disconnecting the fuel pump electrical connector). Got tank off, reglued the heat mat to bottom of tank, celaned a bit of oil and dirt up, decided to wait until cold days of the winter to repalce all the hose lines under the tank and those that go to the catch tank in front of back wheel.

Thanks for all the pointers guys, with words and videos it was not hard at all.

  9. Nice! Beautiful fall colors. Did one bike camping trip this summer on my Street Glide to central Maryland, looking forward to getting out there on V11 next spring. May be wearing a backpack now since no saddlebags to be strapped on side! Blue Ridge Parkway was looking close to prime a few weeks ago. Get out there! :)
