  1. Okay, got another. Thanks to the suggestion above checked the crankcase breather at the frame and of course the rubber is cracking. So since I do not have the tank off yet do I need to buy the expensive Guzzi hose or can I just run straight hose from the auto parts for this one? Thanks
  2. Those are too bent, already checked them out. Just an FYI for everyone at lunch I found a post about adding fender washers under the rear of the tank to get it away from the forks...and it works! Collective knowledge is ALWAYS better! Thanks to all!
  3. Ha! Those are the charcoal canisters for the evaporative emissions system. They are huge and weigh a ton! Plus all the hoses running all over the place! My vent and overflow lines may already be joined together right behind the tank? Will find out once the tank is off. Also, can anyone comment on Ti mufflers vs Mistral CF? Would like to do something like one of these but it might be a wait to find decent used Ti cans? Thanks
  4. Thanks guys! Tom, I already flipped the ECU over with the battery out of the bike, thanks. Have to get the craddle for the battery powder coated as there was some rust from a battery leak in the past. Good news was it did not hurt the red frame!! Yes, the canisters are going away once new intake rubbers arrive and I find a fuel filter as I am definitly not going to leave the tank off for long. Question, did the later model V11's come with a metal tank or are they all plastic? This delicate expanding tank BS is what it is!
  5. Emry, Can I get some pics and instruction on how you moved your tank back? Thanks
  6. Okay guys, got a couple more. Which way is the ECU suppose to install....fins up or fins down? Mine came fins down but I have seen them both ways and read that the plug up can get the plug shorted out by the seat compressing against it? And the fork tubes are hitting the tank on both sides. So is this a stretched tank? I gotta quit looking so much........ Thanks
  7. Great check list. This is like reading the forum for an entire night...or more. Thanks!!
  8. Thanks Docc, Yes the fuel I am using is non ethanol as I keep it around for my race car. The gearbox recall was done at Marsh along with a shift spring and better grounding to the ECU. This is the last bike that Al at Marsh sold and now the building is going away to a new owner too. He sold the bike new and it ended up back at his shop through 3 owners with nobody ever really riding it. So one mechanic its whole life basically. It's bone stock with fresh fluids now so I agree that I will let her run for a while before messing with the injectors or too much. Got to fix the tip over valve(tank suck) so the tank is coming off, just siphoned out most of the fuel so while I am there the air filters should be changed if I am going to do it. I probably will leave the side covers off as I do like that look but would like to keep the option. The forum is a wealth of info just like the Velo forum I follow. Very much appreciated! Thanks
  9. Leon, I am new to Guzzi's also and found mine last night horizontal to the side of the right fuel injector. I did not have to remove the tank to see it. And of course I have the same tank suck problem you are having. So it needs to be verticle and the only way that will happen is removing the tank to strap it to the frame with a longer hose I am guessing? Soemone who has done this can weigh in I bet. Thanks!
  10. Thanks everyone. I am going to do the power commander route later in the year and I do have a local guy with a dyno to get the map right on it. Need tires(the originals are on it) and a few other things ahead of that though. For Roy here are some pics of my Velo's and they don't run K&N's, they run nothing! So, I wanted a bike with an electric start for quick go's but didn't want something you see all the time....how I ended up here. Riden the bike a little and it fits the bill well and I am an air cooled kind of guy, by age unfortunately
  11. Hello All, New Owner with a 2000 V11 Sport with 2,600 miles. Been sorting through the low miles issues like really old bad gas and sticking caliper and have a few questions: Not sure Techron will clean the injectors. Is there someone to send them to for cleaning or is this a DIY? Idle is low and requires choke even a little when hot. I want to remove the air box and go K&N. Will the tappered ones fit behind the side cover? Should I use the stock inlet tube to mount them to? Anyone with a recommendation have the size to order? And lastly with stock mufflers for now will the ECU keep up with these? Lastly, got a sporatic tank suck issue. The tip over valve looks to be just above the right injector body laying horizontal. Is this the right position for this? The one on the bike is black / white but I got another with a purchase of some parts and it is all dark grey. Is this one a later upgrade? The new one I got wants to be mounted vertically to flow air?? I know some of these answers are on the board but it seems I have a little twist on the ones I found. Here is a pic of my bike trying out a fairing I got. Not sure about using this? I will soon start disassembly for many of the mods discussed on the board. Just need to get another one of mine out of the work area.... Thanks in advance
  12. Just got my new to me 2000 Sport and would like an FBF or some brand rear fender eliminator. This stock one is good. But probably very functional. Just not for me. Don't want to replace the entire tail and start painting at this time, maybe later? Rather ride now. Thanks in advance for any leads!
  13. If it's the rear brake caliper that's sticking believe it or not this is fairly common, even on V11s that are ridden regularly. The brake pistons tend to stick because they are mounted under the swingarm so they collect a lot of crud. I have to clean mine about every 3-4k miles. Cool, Thanks Tom!
  14. Having just bought a 2000 Sport with 2,600 miles I can tell you that there are going to be a few issues. Mine have been minor but while the old sticking brake caliper has relieved itself so far I am expecting fluid to appear any day. Old gas is the big one. I drained out 3 gallons of some real nasty orange stuff and refilled with new and some Techron but the idle has not returned yet without the fast idle lever helping and it spits and burps every once in a while. So, just be prepared even if it starts that there will be some sorting if the fluids are original.

    WORTH $5500

That is the best bike deal I have seen in a while. Just Beautiful! Congrats.
  16. I asked all the questions and it is well sorted. I was going to buy it but decided I wanted a sport and found one with 2,600 miles. This one is a great bike it seemed to me.
  17. Not seeing that one, got a link? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Moto-Guzzi-2002-V11-Lemans-Sport-Tourer-Ducati-Cagiva-Laverda-ST1300-Monster-ADV-/321033082084?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4abf1014e4&vxp=mtr It's Ed's bike.
