"Recent" is only limited to the five last posts; Could it become a page where one could catch up with all what happened between logins?

I am aware of the option "follow thread" but I don't consider it useful for how I like to consume the forum's content.

The "notification" helps.

Going to the root of the forum page and checking when was the posts updated works too.

What could be considered is to make "recent" with a scroll, so you can go back further than the five most recent posts; this would help me to pickup where I left off.

Or maybe there is another way to do it which I have not learned yet?

Though this might not be exactly what you're looking for, I use the 'Unread Content' link at the top of the page. I actually made that my bookmark.

guzzi323 has the answer you are looking for with the "Unread Content" button. When I have finished browsing the "Mark site read" button is clicked so next visit I only see recent postings.
