Keep trying them on until you find one that is snug but has no pressure points. I wear a Shoei Z-Two. It is a full-face helmet and I've had three shields cracked from being spayed by debris - gravel to golf-ball sized rocks. I've got ding marks all over it - front an back. I like taking long rides, so a light-weight and well-ventilated helmet helps. The internal pads are removable for easy washing. I wear ear plugs, to keep the wind noise down. I went with a solid color, white. Next time more color, maybe either the Shoei Lawson Limited or an Arai Quantum 2 Retro Corsa My Happy riding! (... but honey, you don't want me to have brain damage because of a cheapass helmet?) I wouldn't recommend buying such an expensive helmet if you don't try it beforehand. v50man Posted March 19, 2006 Share Posted March 19, 2006 I'm still wearing a Bieffe GPR -- inexpensive and quite nice looking -- if a bit on the heavy side. Have grown increasingly addicted to my Nolan Flip front -- as Hagan says, it's great for four-eyed guys here in the South. Was going to buy a Schuberth but found the attitude at the local BMW dealer that stocks them to be intolerable. I've got a beautiful AGV that I never wear because it feels a bit tight in places. Build quality is quite excellent. Helmets are a personal thing -- hard to quantify. I've always been kind of hard on them so I tend not to buy ultra-premium lids. Great quality, nice interior. But like others have said, fit is everything. Try it on first, this is one area where Internet or mail order can be a mistake. All I would recommend is to get a helmet that is not black. Why? When do we ride most? In the summer. So why would you want to fry your head, unless looking cool is paramount. Ciao, Steve G. 25253[/snapback] Steve youre showing youre <helmet> age a bit...Arai dropped the "e" several years ago <it became plain ol' quantum and now quantum-2>. and arai has for a few years claimed to have helmets to fit different head shapes (round & oval) where, as you say, before there were those that prefered arai for their head shape and those that prefered shoei for their different/other head shape... i cant personally vouce for this because if been wearing arai's for more than 20yrs...but i can say that ARAI works and was one of the 1st to adopt SNELL certification...many years ago there was nothing BUT DOT certification I personally perfer the Arai RX7 series, its got better venting & a completely removeable head liner (snaps into place) along w/ replacable cheek pads (of different sizes)... futher everyone should realize that helmets dont last for ever...5 or so years (and getting better) at the most GENERALLY....the foams and energy absorb. material dry out, rot, crack etc...the flying/swirling foam dust can be dangerous <alone> but the fact that the foam is "SHOT" should be reason enough to toss the helmet & buy new. And it fitted like a glove. A bit on the expensive side, but so cool... 82648[/snapback] If we're talking Italian then check out this baby from X-Lite: I bought it online from a dealer in Yorkshire last year and it's really a good looking helmet.
