Mine is a 2001 V11 Sport (a 'Greenie'). Does this problem affect my bike too? I'm approaching about 30,000 km. I also have no idea if the selector spring thing has been done.

Am I riding a grenade ;-)

As far as I know, it only affects the specific models mentioned here:

Your greenie should have the double-plate clutch, which doesn't cause any problems at all.

Just buy a 5 speed no flywheel pickup RAM kit from MGcycles in the states They are lightweight steel flywheel these days. The genuine RAM alloy units had no failure issues and I have one fitted to my bike. SD is too expensive. You will need to use your original gearbox input drive is all and check the pushrod details in the instructions on the MG website. Forget about converting to a dual plate clutch assy. Once you have ridden a bike with a single plater you'd never want to go back to a dual plate sidecar flywheel assembly.

@Lucky Phil

Phil, I have read a lot of your comments about this issue but one thing I'm still uncertain about is why not reuse the original 6 spd clutch "button"? It seems like the preferred solution is to cut down the diameter of the clutch rod tip instead. Wouldn't replacing the button be easier and cheaper than machining the rod? What am I missing?

BTW, I can't find any instructions on MG's website about the "pushrod details". Do you have a link to that?
