belfastguzzi Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 I'm finding a problem that I experienced before. When a new avatar file is selected for upload from computer, the old avatar resizes to the dimensions of the new uploaded file – the new picture doesn't appear. I've tried a few different things but can't remember how I got around this last time.
Alex-Corsa Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 You must be doing something wrong O.K. you might as well upload it to this site: http://www.imageshack.us/and and direct link to it. Site is a bit tricky on the links and doesn't like abuse though. That's all I can say.
Admin Jaap Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 A browser refresh (F5 in Internet Explorer - Ctrl-R in Firefox) will do the trick. (3000 posts. This is getting serious )
belfastguzzi Posted November 12, 2005 Author Posted November 12, 2005 A browser refresh (F5 in Internet Explorer - Ctrl-R in Firefox) will do the trick. (3000 posts. This is getting serious ) 66980 Thanks, I did do a number of refreshes, but it still didn't work. I'll try again now. Also thanks Alex. I was just too lazy last night to go through the upload & link to another site, so I was letting the board system do the dirty work. PS did there not used to be a way to access old avatars that had been uploaded to the Forum site? If so, is it still here somewhere? PPS CONGRATULATIONS on 3,000 posts
jrt Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Congrats, Jaap. Belfast- you have a Mac, right? Try emptying the cache (option-cmd-E).
belfastguzzi Posted November 12, 2005 Author Posted November 12, 2005 Well, it works ok today – without doing anything else as you can see, it's a great success
Martin Barrett Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Well, it works ok today – without doing anything else as you can see, it's a great success 66998 Both you and Lex are showing flat lines ( I know a line joins two points so cant have any height ) today where Lex 's normal Fish is absent, He doesn't normally change his avtar.
Guest Nogbad Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Well, it works ok today – without doing anything else as you can see, it's a great success 66998 I can't see your avatar, its just a coloured line.........
belfastguzzi Posted November 13, 2005 Author Posted November 13, 2005 I can't see your avatar, its just a coloured line......... 67008 !? I can see it And I can see Lex's fish. Maybe I should try an off-site link.
belfastguzzi Posted November 13, 2005 Author Posted November 13, 2005 Changed to offsite link. Does it show now?
Martin Barrett Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Nothing at all now , but I'm at work. and the filter blocks your ( almost exclusively) hosted pictures anyway so if it's working I probably couldn't see it anyway. Not being very help full at this time am I
docc Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I noticed all the new avatars were much bigger than mine and, hey, I want a big one too! After about 10 tries using the f5 key I think it worked!
Martin Barrett Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I'm not seeing BFG; Lex; DLaing since changed from Karen Carpenter and even Docc I don't think the F5 key fixed it. All the flat line Can anyone see them?
docc Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I'm seeing them but did have a lot of trouble getting mine to change. Had to delete and upload several times. Can anyone else see mine?
Admin Jaap Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 "So what's the problem?" "I have this curious avatar bug" "Oh? Does it hurt?" "Only when I surf the V11LeMans site, docter"
