Why not apply a clear coat on them AFAIK the slip onns don't get hot enough to destroy the coat (or do they?) , and as claimed all these new varishes are offering UV protection. waspp Posted October 31, 2006 Share Posted October 31, 2006 A decent single stage urethane clear would probably work fine on carbon cans, plus yopu could go for gloss semi gloss or flat finish. Does this still ever happen??? Not since pipes stopped being made of mild steel with a hi-temp paint finish... Of course, made that way, pipes were so much cheaper to replace that nobody much cared if they rusted away before you managed to drop the bike & ding'em, 'cause it was only about $200 in today's dollars ($100 back then) for a new set! They typically crack where the hanger is butt welded to the muffler. If you can rig up some sort of rubber vibration isolator where the hanger bolts to the porkchop, it may last longer. I bought a couple of these from BUB before they stopped production for about 400 or less. If you ride much, I can almost guarantee theyll break. If you're going for deep sound but not obnoxiously loud, and you can appreciate the smoothness of the polished finish, then you will not be dissappointed with the Staintunes. DeBenGuzzi Posted January 7, 2007 Share Posted January 7, 2007 you could prolly get leo's for an aprilia or monster and just "nudge" the pipe in the right direction for yourself, as long as the pipes are the same size the muffler shouldn't be too different, especially for the monster.
