  1. Thanks for the link. Don't forget to post your Cafe Sport on the registry above.
  2. As this looks to be a 2002, keep in mind that you may find the bubbling black paint on the cases. Also, the unmistakable Guzzi growl that is mentioned will probably be more apparent with some aftermarket mufflers, as I personally found the stock mufflers on this bike when I had one to be kind of muted for my taste. I did enjoy my '02 when I had it, and agree with the above comments that it'd be a nice bike for the money.
  3. BFG, who am I to attempt to shatter your delusions of grandeur re: the Scura? As long as it makes you happy, or, per the line from the film Caddyshack: 'Looks good on YOU!'. Here in the States, at least, the only year of production of the Cafe Sport model was 2004. I'm not sure if they produced in other years in Europe.
  4. Isn't it ironic that such shoddy adhesive is used to keep something that people like and want to have, i.e. the badges; and yet the impermeable glue from hell is used to affix the ugly tank stickers. Go figure.
  5. Amazing! It looks like only seven of the Cafe Sports are still in existence according to this thread. Our bikes must be worth a small fortune on the collectors' market.
  6. The only thing you said that I agree with enough to do something about is the fueling. It does run lean (as do most new Guzzis), so I'm having Todd Eagen flash the ECU, install & program a PC-V and autotune, replace the airbox and put an H-pipe on the exhaust. I have a couple of friends with Vintages and these mods change the bike very much for the better.
  7. Thanks much, your comments are appreciated, and after reading them as well as a number of blogs and reviews, and sleeping on it for a couple of days I decided to pull the trigger. I just got back from ProItalia and a very pretty white one is now mine. Hopefully I'll fall in love with it and have no regrets. I also hope that I'll be able to talk my wife into doing a bit of touring on it with me, as the only riding I've been doing for years now has been solo in the canyons. This bike may open up some new vistas. Now, as it's a cruiser, I'll have to get used to riding in a half helmet, wife beater shirt, and flip flops, and then maybe the Harley guys will wave at me.
  8. Anybody own one of these and have some opinions for me? I took a new 2009 out for a test ride yesterday, and it felt much more comfortable for my sometimes aching right shoulder than any of my other bikes. I'm being offered a decent deal on it, but am having some difficulty making up my mind as it's a radical departure from any other bikes I've ever owned. It does seem to handle reasonably well on the mountain roads here (I went on a fairly long ride), but shows its weight in the tight stuff. Any comments appreciated.
  9. Looks like a very nice bike, and as the 12k service has just been done you don't have to worry about spending $7-800 on another service until 18k. I recall test riding one of these at ProItalia when they first came out - I guess that was '98 - and really liked it at that time. I was just into sport riding rather than sport touring, so I ended up with something else. Good luck with your new ride.

    bad news

Well, if you're in the market for a relatively inexpensive Griso, there's this one http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=608091 and this one http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=618954&highlight=griso I have no interests in either of these. I just browse forums and saw them.
  11. looks good with that upswept Guzzi ti exhaust on it.
  12. Due to an overwhelming demand for a registry of this model, frequently referred to as the "creme de la creme" of the modern Guzzi era, let the list begin. Of course, while intended for only those few that are fortunate and insightful enough to own this exclusive object, others are also welcome to view this registry, although we will ask that you try to refrain from petty remarks that are obviously spurred on by envy. VINs, locations and pictures if you have them. I'll start: ZGUKTC0234M111155 located in S. California.
  13. Well, I personally know of three including mine in this area, but I'm sure there are more around here. But it's rare to see another one. A registry of VIN's might help in determining numbers.
  14. Nice tribute. I enjoyed looking at those pictures.
  15. A friend of mine distributes them here in SoCal. Absolutely beautiful wire spoke wheels without the hassle of tubes.

    2 Cafe Sports...

Cool - we should go for a ride sometime on our Cafe's.
  17. in the same place at the same time? It was like an episode of the Twilight Zone! I went with some friends up to Newcombe's Ranch today (on Angeles Crest Highway for those unfamiliar with the area) and took the Cafe Sport. We were hanging around, went inside and had some breakfast, and when we came out - lo and behold, there was another Cafe Sport parked right next to mine! There don't seem to be too many around here, and I've never seen two together before, although his was stock and mine is not quite stock. Will wonders never cease? Chatted with the fellow for a bit, but didn't ask whether he's on this board. Are you?
  18. Would someone please tell me how I can determine whether my bike has the Roper plate in it? I'd appreciate the info.

[ I'm 6'3", and will tell you that you will have issues with the footpeg location. I could not deal with it on my then new '01 V11, the green one. Moto Evoluzione used to sell a cheap little relocation kit [basically a series of long bolts and a bushing for the brake lever] which basically stopped my from selling the bike, it's way better now. I've since purchased the MPH handlbar kit, needed on the pre: '02 V11's with the lower clip ons, a great kit, except that it needs, and does not come with an extended throttle cable. I can confirm that Yamaha of Chilliwack has an '02, burgundy, higher bars. It's rubber tank cover, or whatever that thing is called, has been damaged, not sure what that thing is worth. It also has factory carbon fibre parts that have, of course, deteriorated, and look like shite. It's been there at least 1/2 yr, so maybe a lowball offer will get it. Steve Motobits in Washington state sells a relocation kit that puts the footpegs 1" forward and 1" down. I have them on my Cafe and they're more comfy than stock.
  20. I really hope for your sake that it's something simpler (read cheaper) than what I said was wrong with mine. Please keep us informed once you get it sorted.
  21. Disclaimer: I'm not very mechanically inclined, so I'm just speaking of what was done by my dealer. I used to have a 2002 LeMans, and it had the same problem that you're having. With no warning it'd just cut off at various speeds, sometimes quite dangerously while on a freeway. I had upgraded the relays, fiddled with the relay base, tried the sidestand switch disconnect, and yet this still kept occurring. One day while on a ride it kept cutting out repeatedly and only restarted when it felt like doing so. With much frustration I rerouted to the dealership and left it there. They replaced the ECU (thankfully under warranty), and after that the problem never happened again. Of course, YMMV.
  22. I bought a set of Napoleon threaded mirrors for my Cafe Sport. The left side one is fine, but the right one is reverse thread, and my Guzzi has regular threads on the right side. if anyone has a mirror fitting they're not using or a right side Napoleon with regular threads I'd be happy to purchase. Also would be very willing to trade if anyone needs what I have.
  23. The question that first comes to my mind is, Why would you want to? I can understand clutchless shifting if/when racing, but I don't really see it on a Guzzi, expecially when street riding. But maybe I'm just being naive, and there really is a good reason to not use your clutch on these bikes.

    Guzzichondria

I think that owning a Guzzi is a great excuse for having more than one bike. I was always a one-bike-at-a-time person until buying a new 2002 LeMans (just like yours) eight years ago. Shortly afterwards, during my first unplanned stoppage on a freeway, I decided that having a spare bike would probably be a good idea. And you may even be able to sell that logic to your wife/husband/partner/whatever.
  25. Nice looking bike, Skymax. What kind of stand is that?
