  1. You just can't fit a 5 speed to a 6 speed frame. The offset is wrong and the mounts are different, the swingarm wont work. Lots of stuff. Ciao

  3. You are correct but I'm not following your point.? A Centauro is a 5 speed. You start with a Centy and bolt the rest to that. My bike is a V11 Sport with a Centauro/Daytona engine so 6 speed, 8 valve V11 Sport. OR you can go the other way and have a 5 speed 8 valve "V11 Sport" starting with a Centauro and adapting the V11 Sport tank and bodywork. Or you can start with a Centauro and fit a 2 valve engine and V11 Sport tank and bodywork and front end. This things a bit of a bastard. Short tank and Lemans bodywork as well. Ciao
  4. That looks like a Centauro base and V11 Lemans bodywork, seat subframe, front end and engine. The grey painted gearbox is the giveaway. The other option is a Daytona RS base but that seems less likely. Ciao
  5. Thanks docc. I went back and re read the relay stuff including the starter relay wiring differences. I have enough Omrons to last me as I bought a batch 4 or 5 years ago. The Royal Enfield also uses the same relay but I'm not sure of the current rating it requires so I'll look into that and save the Omrons for the v11. I guess like most things though the "rated capacity" is always set conservatively, like "proof load" and "ultimate load" in mechanical stuff so maybe that's what the Guzzi #5 relay is counting on. What was the original bosch relay rated to? Ciao

  7. The Panasonic CM series relays are 20/35 rated for continuous/switching. Is this what you're referencing docc? Why can't we use the Panasonics? Are they inferior in some way? Ciao

  10. If you upload to your album the size is irrelevant. I never resize when using the way I described. Don't open the image from your album just "copy image" from the album and paste in your post. I open a separate browser for the "copy image" and then switch browsers to the post browser and paste. Ciao

  12. The first aircraft I can ever remember seeing was a Bristol Freighter. My grandfather who was an aircraft engineer also took me to the airport when I was 3 years old. We were on the tarmac and close up to it. Not sure why we were there, I'm sure it wasn't just so I could see an aeroplane. The sleeve valve engines had less moving parts than a poppet valve engine as I recall. Interestingly I remember a warning that you should never get amateurs to pull a radial through before starting, it takes a knowledgeable experienced person/people to tell the difference between normal compression rise and a hydrolocked cylinder and it's quite possible and not uncommon to pull them through the lock and bend a rod. Better to bump it through on the starter and let the starter clutch protect the engine. The other big no, no is when a lock is detected never ever rotate the engine backwards thinking you'll clear it that way. It just dumps the oil back into the inlet and bends the rod or blows the cylinder off when it fires on the other cylinders on the start. If it's got a lock then it's tools out and pull the plugs and drain the lower cylinders. Ciao

  15. Not sure but what you're referring to is the inlet valve. Hemi heads are pretty poor for combustion efficiency with their orange peel shape with any sort of decent compression pistons and so lots of ignition lead hence why the modern 4 valve narrow angled valve head with tumble scavenging instead of the swirl scavenging totally eclipsed it about 40 years ago. Everything has its day and the Hemi design lasted for nearly 100 years. Ciao
  16. I know you couldn't pick it up and neither could I, not a chance in hell. Even a fit 35 year old would be struggling. It's an initial lift of over 200kgs. Worth thinking about if you're on your own at anytime even in the workshop. I haven't nonchalantly manoeuvred a bike around since my Speed Triple fell over in the garage 25 years ago. I felt it was starting to get away from me and managed to lessen the impact on it as it went down so no damage but getting that back up was almost impossible on my own and I was a fit 38 year old then. Since then I focus a lot wheeling a bike around because if it goes over that's where it's staying until I can get help to get it up again. Ciao
  17. I wonder if as they do a moulding run of covers they just add to the previous date matrix so in effect the latest year and dot is applicable to the part in your hand and all the previous markings are from the previous moulding runs. That would be Italian logic and methodology. Ciao

  19. Yea not sure of the exact methodology they use but I think the likelihood of the them being made in 2021 is about zero. I've had parts shipped to me with the same thing on a sticker. I assume they use a generic sticker and the date applied is the stocking date or some such thing. Ciao
  20. Isn't that why we all ride a Guzzi, because it's somewhat removed from the soulless modern refined motorcycles that other manufacturers sell? As for how an electric bike performs and the instant torque etc, etc, well if I was focused on performance I wouldn't be riding a Guzzi or a Royal Enfield or any of my more pedestrian twins. I'm amazed at all the support for EV's on a Guzzi site really, on a Honda CX500 forum or a Honda Cub site I'd understand but on a Guzzi forum? One of the only things a Guzzi offers is "character" and not much else. Lets face it, performance, err, no, faultless reliability, err, no, ease of ownership, err, no. I don't know about the rest of you but when I stop on a long trip to fuel up the last thing I want to do is hang around for 45 min hooked up to a power supply at some bloody horrible road side diner/McDonalds with a room full of screaming kids or teenagers on their mobiles walking around aimlessly tripping over people and being a royal PITA. I'm fuel up and gone asap. So the future direction seems to be the motorcycle/car degenerating into something akin to a white good. Terrific at what they do but lets face it not exactly interesting. Add to that the fact that the perceived or even real performance of the EV which is about all they have going for them apart from quietness will be neutered by stricter and more draconian authoritarian control and even that benefit is gone. If I want to get from point A to point B (over a relatively short distance) and I want a utilitarian mode of transport I don't want to think or particularly care about, AKA my "daily driver" then sign me up for an EV. If I want something I enjoy owning, riding and connect with then forget it. I dont know enough about the supposed environmental benefits of going EV but I can guarantee it won't be anywhere near the popular doctrine being bandied about in the media. It never is. Ciao
