So about a year ago I caught a few episodes of Long Way Round on Outdoor Network and I always wanted to finish watching it so I jumped on eBay and bought both LWR and LWD on DVD. I also bought the hard bound illustrated book that accompanied LWD. I was pleasantly surprised to see some Moto Guzzi content both on the DVD and in the book. In LWD whenever Ewan McGregor was tooling around London in the episodes that covered the pre-trip planning and preparations he was on his Griso and once they were on their way they made a stop at the Moto Guzzi factory and Museum as they passed through Italy. On a side note the day the package arrived my wife was like "you can watch those on your days off when I'm not home" so of course I had to put the DVD in immediately after dinner. Only made it through one episode before needing to hit the rack. The next day I get an e-mail from my wife to the effect of "we gonna watch the next episode tonight....."

This one gets my vote, I like the "distressed" look.

The ride went well. A little mist here and there after Carsonville but it became a steady drizzle when we reached Rt. 125 at Ravine so we headed south instead of north. It tapered off and the roads were dry again by the time we reached the Lebanon Co. line on Rt. 443. Overall a great ride. Hopefully we can put another one together this summer and get some more members out. BTW, the homemade tiramisu at Villa Rosa, E' delizioso.

Sounds like it may already have an aftermarket exhaust. Do you have pics? Perhaps one of us can identify what is on it for you. Aftermarket options are few at this point. Mistral and Staintune are two options for you. I have Staintune full systems on both my Sport 1100 and my Daytona 1000. I believe the Daytona RS, Daytona 1000 and Sport 1100 are cross referenced for fit.

Start time: 2pm (some of us are going to get there around 1pm and partake in a pre-ride espresso) Start location: Villa Rosa Restaurant, Grantville @ Rts. 22 & 743. (about 15 min. East of Harrisburg Pennsylvania) From there we will travel north to Shamokin and back around to Ft. Indiantown Gap. Proposed route: Rt. 743 N. to Rt. 443 W. to Rt. 322 W. to Rt. 225 N and over Peter's Mtn. to Halifax and onto Powel's Valley Rd. to Carsonville where we'll take Glen Park Rd. to Lykens. At Lykens onto Rt. 209 to Tower City to Rt. 125 to Shamokin. Back Rt. 125 to Tower City and over Gold Mine Rd. to Moonshine Rd. to Ft. Indiantown Gap where we will go our separate ways. Hope to see some of you there.

I have the Staintune full system on my '96 Sport 1100. I'm very happy with its quality, construction, and sound. They used to make a system with a carbon fiber pipe years ago but they're only available in stainless now. In any case I don't think you can wrong with the Staintune but they're not cheap. http://www.staintune.com.au/ Mistral makes a crossover and aluminum or carbon fiber pipes in round or oval. http://www.mistralspecialparts.it/ Stucchi makes a cross over as well.

I'm drooling on myself.....

RS has 17 inch wheels, faster motor, better suspension, different ECU, same bodywork as Sporti. I prefer the looks of the earlier model. Aesthetically the Daytona RS and Sport 1100 body work is nearly identical but the heads are different so it is very subtle but the front fairings are specific to the Daytona RS and vice versa on the Sport 1100/1100i. I also prefer the looks of the Daytona 1000 to the RS. I guess being a Sport owner I feel they could have done better with the RS than just lifting the styling from the Sport. I've always likened it to looking like a 4V Sport. The Daytona RS should have been set apart with it's own appearance. That said both the Daytona 1000 and the RS are bad a** and I'm sure either will draw a crowd wherever you stop.

My 1996 Sport 1100's tail section took a dive and I need to find the silver paint code. I also need to track down the part # for the maroon/red and gold decal set. The only decals I've been able to locate so far are black and gold. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm still running the oem brakes on my '96 Sport 1100. Does anyone have the part numbers for the parts needed to retrofit the Brembo master cylinders from Ducati, I believe it was the 916, onto the Sport 1100? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to fit it into my schedule but if I can make it happen I'll be taking the Ducati, the Guzzi's repairs will not be finished by October.

Does anybody know the differences between a 1996 California EV motor and a 1996 Sport 1100 motor. Specifically if the crank is interchangeable?
