  1. Humble apologies for diving back in to this so far down the line, but what is the final verdict? Can I get UK legal (important in North Wales) cans with removable inserts a la Blue Flame, Scorpion etc? If I can, do I need a new ECU chip, or a power commander, or now't at all? OR, should I just dismantle the stock pipes and stuff them with wool - we've got plenty of sheeps around here!!!
  2. Fantastic!!! Thanks! Don't suppose anybody's got a workshop manual to go with it have they?

I am still faffing about trying to decide what to put on my bike, but am coming down in favour of MGs own, albeit over priced, ti cans. However, I have been asked by the potential supplier whether my bike has a cat or not. Daft question probably, but how do I tell?
  4. I tried the somewhat "fugly" Laminar lip, which did work to an extent, but find the touring version of MRA's screen far far better, and easier on the eye! This is from a 6'2" ish point of view (ie not quite but nearly).
  5. Rossopuro tell me they will soon have their gorgeous looking rearsets available!!
  6. Check the site for common problems such as the dreaded SELECTOR SHAFT RETURN SPRING then persuade you dealer to warrant that it has either been sorted PROPERLY (ie full assembly changed, not just the spring), or that it will be sorted FOC if it fails. This can be done - I now have an extended warranty following the second such failure. Apparently common, recurring, problem on the age of bike you want; as acknowledged by MG themselves: they know they have a bad batch of boxes out there, but have no means of tracing them!! If I'm correct, the blistering paint problem is less of an issue on bikes with "sperex" type finishes ie not smooth. Tacho misting is another recurrent problem too. Character is one thing, but bikes like these are also relatively expensive toys: consumer goods!!! Having ranted madly when the bike was in dock, I've learnt to love it again now!! They are pretty cool!!
  7. Done!! They do look a bit "fugly", so I'm going to mod them by removing the white "bobbins" and replacing with LSL's beatifully machined composite "mushrooms". now I need a lathe for Chritmas!!! If it works, I'll show you! Nadolig Llawen Iawn i chwi gyd, a Blwyddyn Newydd Da!! Assume its Goose for dinner tomorrow then! PS thanks for the PMs re torque: 10Nm it is.
  8. Fugly, door-stoppers or whatever!! Does anyone have a torque figure for the rocker cover allen bolts that hold these things on?
  9. The "not so good" good ones were LSL by the way, not whatever I said before!! Beautifully machined, but badly conceived!. Fugly is a pretty good descrption - like the Laminar Lip etc.
  10. So if I want to change/upgrade my exhaust system to get that deep burbly noise, what the hell do I go for? The "funky" Buellesque Quat D or similar? Guzzi's own Ti cans? Mistrals? AND, what happens if I don't replace the ECU ( I know the Guzzi set up comes with one - doesn't it?)? Will I damage my motor by adversely altering the burn characterisitcs or something? I've followed all sorts of threads about this topic, but still can't find anything definitive!!
  11. Al, if you think there might be a leverage problem with these, you should see the fancy L&S(?) ones I bought (ultimately by mistake) for my Triumph Speed Triple. A crash pad on a 3"+ "stalk" on a 90 degree bracket projecting the thing 21/2" out from its mountings!! Expensive though they were, I ditched them in favour of R&G's more agricultural direct mounts (which have the added advantage of being brillinat knee rests when braking hard!!). The RP construction looks pretty solid, and I would assume (not with any expert ability though) that the bolt would fail before the actual bracket bent.
  12. Ty Croes is about 5 miles from me, so when she's actually got some miles on we'll have a tootle!!
  13. If you really want to be anal about things, buy your Guzzi a bubble to live in!! Super dry almost air conditioned comfort!!! Avoids a lot of the "sitting in a damp atmosphere" problems.
  14. Aha!! Need to be very carefull with these sneaky little TLAs!! Thanks. And are they a problem waiting to happen?
  15. Just tried to find the "I want some" bit of the web site and failed!! Do you have a link to the shopping cart checkout?
  16. TPS?? Sorry to be thick, but honest(!) what is it?

    Helmets

I use an Arai Signet GT in the summer, as its incredibly well ventilated, and fits perfectly, but a Schuberth S1 for winter riding. The Schuberth is stunningly well made, with an anti fog set up that actually works, and an inner tinted "top gun" sun shield for days when the sun is low in the sky. Unlike the Arai, it is also possible to set the visor part open. The only "problem" with this lid is that its long. Whereas I can kiss the chinbar on the Arai, the Schuberth is a lot deeper fore and aft. It is very quiet, more so than the Arai, but can feel like it pulls your head to one side if you glance over your shoulder at 80+. Both very good lids!! I agree with the fit over fashion statement too!!
  18. Now that is herecy!!! Al, it was the "spring thing"!! Suppose I have not got much choice now, I'll keep it, b ut not sure I can lurve it!!
  19. At long last, my V11 LeMans is ready for collection!! Four months off the road in its first year, and only 1200 miles on the clock! As I have lost faith in this bike, I thought I'd trade it in, after all, how much can an almost new £7500 bike loose in a year? The ansewr is one hell of a lot!! Best trade-in offer I've had is £4250!!. Given that I paid £6999 for the bike, that equates to £2.29 per mile, or £305.00 for each of the 9 months its been available to use!!! On the other hand, my 1994 M Triumph Daytona 900 still books at £3000 ish!! Looks like I'm stuck with it!
  20. Pyramid's Fenda Extenda for the Honda NT650 works well too. Will try to take some pictures. When I ordered mine, they did say that they were looking at coming up with a bike specific one for the V11's, but needed somebody willing to lend them a bike.
  21. Oops!!! Its cos it not in Welsh you know!! Duh.
  22. My 2003 LeMans is STILL at the dealers having failed for the second time at the end of August!! Sadly, if it ever comes back, its not staying!! My Triumph's are both considerably better bikes. Sad, but so far, true.
