1. One is TRX, the other is a ducati ST2. But the look some what similar. I figure one day it will be fun to start them all at once in the garage
2. Well the other finger nail finally came off today. So I won't be working on bikes tonight, it's a bit ouchy
3. Hi Everyone, Thought i would start a build thread for my newest addition to the garage - a V11 Lemans maskerading as a V11 Sport These pics were taken a few years ago and unfortunately by the time i got it was in a well worn condition, shredded rear tyre, faded filthy paintwork, rust, starter issues and in need of a major service. I replaced tyres , pads, oils, etc but on the second journey around the block found the quickest way to visit a hospital was in the back of an ambulance. I recall nothing of the accident which is the worth in 30yrs of riding and racing and 15yrs since the last crash (kangaroo at 130kms) and as much as i have tried, can't find what happened although it seems like a low side but no reason i even would have been on the brakes. Anyway... bike wasnt as damaged as me. Howdy - After finishing the TRX850 in the front here, i put the V11 up on the lift and started looking into what i needed to do to fix the beast up. The started issues were a bad relay, simple.. Then I stripped a thread on the sump plug so knowing i had to pull the sump off, i got a roper plate in anticipation of the rebuild. I have new rotors front and rear now and as i started stripping down the bike, I thought... i have to keep going. It needs so much tidying up. It filthy from sitting outside in the sun, rain and dust. The oil line to a head leaks, i think a stripped thread too, there is rust on some of the sub frame at the front, the gauges needed repairs and to be honest, i love the V11 but they look heavy so i want to at least make it look more cafe racer. So I have started accumulating parts, clip ons, new speedo (selling the old set) new headlight which i will make the same as the TRX and Ducati in the pic, and probably a few bits and pieces as i go, like dropping the side covers for K&N with Bell mouths, carbon fibre where possible/affordable, new pipes, new pegs, new paint, new shock . Clean everything else Some things I love about the V11 are the lines and curves. So i don't think i will change the seat or rear end, but i won't rule it out either. I will be making some sort of tail tidy though, possibly even under seat exhaust like i did with the TRX. If you have seen something like what i am talking about, please post the pic here or link. I'll add pics as I go. Cheers Neil
4. Will do , where for the thread? point me please
5. More stuff fell off the bike. Seems some parts want to be painted, some replaced, so i guess i'll have to oblige ..
6. If you want a headlight bracket they have these on ebay and they are beautifully made. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MAX-Blade-High-Quality-CNC-Machined-Headlight-Brackets-54-55mm-Diameter-/172070465801?hash=item281032f109:g:~6wAAOSwUV9WoDPC I may put one on the Guzzi as well, but the stock one is not too bad, but it can't be anodized and hardened, just painted.
7. Where did you get your Stop light from ? its perfect !!
8. some bits fell off.... Started like this... Now it looks like this - It shall be Cafe'd further to match the others although it shall continue on as a two seater.
9. Just to add a step..... Brace bike or use centre stand before removing the side stand
10. Thanks Pete and Tim, mine turned up in the post today ! I thought they were were going to be alum, but theyre stainless, niceeeee.

12. this is what i am putting on mine, simply because i want an all in one electronic gauge. I think one of the main reasons the veglias go is because they arent sealed properly. This acewell is really very very nice and well built so if you are looking for an alternative this is also quite reasonable at about $250USD
13. yes Otto instruments in brisbane but there are a few that refurb veglias and smiths
14. i have a good set, the tacho has just been fully refurbed and the speedo is in very good condition. I was going to sell the dash as complete set as i have new mounting plate and idiot light cover.
15. https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/h-series-bulbs/7-round-dot-approved-led-headlights/3146/ i just got a 5 3/4inch version and these things are super. Swap the whole lot out and use one of these headlights. $100 out of china, DOT and CE marked.
16. committed ... Australia post, V11 plate. I suppose i can get gaskets locally easy enough, but let me know what it will cost to send from usa from you if its not too much trouble Thanks Tim for your efforts
17. has this been posted before ?
18. The ST2 is actually water cooled but with the fins on the heads it sure looks like the aircooled motor. Yeah the recovery is going well, just the fingers to go. Thanks
19. Hi All, bit of a story here... if you can be bothered to read. I have been into bikes for 30years and for the last 28years have been modifying as a hobby. Back in 96 i saw a european customising book and saw a guzzi in it that inspired me to do my guzzi. It started out as a stock standard Mille GT and became this bike I have always thought that out of all the bikes around, the Guzzi's were the ideal bike to be a cafe racer and during my build of the Mille GT Moto Guzzi released the V11. I looked at it and thought that this is the bike Guzzi was designed to be, classic but modern cafe racer. After having the bike on the road for a month I hit a kangaroo doing 130km/hr which hurt a bit but luckily the bike had very little damage - I hit the kangaroo in the head with the left handlebar and crashed on the verge of the road. It was rebuilt in a month. Unfortunately after a divorce i sold the bike back in 2004. So after reconnecting with a Guzzi friend this year and finding he was selling his V11 naked Lemans for $6500 I jumped at the chance. It was running well enough but ratty and neglected as he has a Coppa as well. So I put new bearing in the wheels, new brakes and tyres, grips, mirrors, levers and took it for a spin around the block. Fantastic. Then the next week I thought, great finally a chance to take it for a ride to a friends place. Then I wake in hospital, broken ribs, shoulder blade, abrasions and smashed fingers on the right hand where they were crushed between the lever and bars as it came down. My 2nd crash in 30years and by far the worst and still recovering with the finger injuries. https://www.flickr.com/photos/knumbnutz/albums/72157666411184082 Most importantly, the bike was still insured as suffered only minor injuries which i am in the process of repairing although I have chosen now to customise a little from stock. So howdy to all from Down Under. If you want to see some of the bikes I've made then you can see them here - https://www.flickr.com/photos/knumbnutz/albums/72157649040687986 i still have the Ducati ST2 Cafe Racer and I am also building a TRX850 cafe racer here - https://www.flickr.com/photos/knumbnutz/albums/72157663078808300
20. The Drysdale V8 1000cc Hunwick Hallam Ronin47 Laverda V6 MV Agusta 500
21. Hi Everyone, Sorry to drag this up but as i am getting to know the Guzzi again i was thinking to put pods on. I have read a lot of people saying there are no gains, but from what i can read below he says there is decent gains. eg: Once you totally remove the airbox but retain the std bell mouths on the injector bodies the gains above 6300 do not taper off as above with the gain being approx 5hp at 8000 or so. Probably the most noticeable gain with this last set up is 4 or 5hp in the middle of the dip at 4000- 4800rpm. Probably the most noticeable gain with this last set up is 4 or 5hp in the middle of the dip at 4000- 4800rpm I was thinking to put a decently large set of pods on or at the very least remove the top of the airbox and let the sound flow, the induction noise is terrific. Who has pods ?
22. The sump plug is stripped so i have to take sump off to fix with an insert. No time like the present since i can't ride it anyhow.
23. Hi Gio, 5 weeks ago similar happened to me, right side copped a hiding though, broken ribs, shoulder, road rash but worst is broken/crushed fingers - caught between lever and handlebar. Had to have the nails sewn back in on two fingers and pin inserted into ring finger. No idea how it happened. FWIW, levers are the same as ST2 Ducati so i got a set of billet beauties off ebay for about $60AUD, these ones fold !!!! Hope you are feeling better, regards Neil
24. I am interested, although i would assume he could send it to me direct. How much ?
25. I think i might try one of these two. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/351635202584?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I think i like this more if the beams are good. The tab s are perfect for mounting. I like the look too. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/281988128179?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Has anyone tried these ?
