  1. Sounds like a good plan…I hadn’t heard of any new specific hassles in Big Bend…but border patrol has been around for years. The one recommendation I recall is to tank up in Marathon as I don’t recall seeing gas in the park on my last Rover adventure there a few years ago….maybe there is some now. The road along the River to Terlingua and a stop at Santa Elena canyon is well worth it! When you’re down near Boca Chica maybe you’ll get to see a Space X launch?
  2. Looking good P6x! 400 miles in this heat is killer…I’m using a camelback filled with ice and water or ice tea at each gas stop to stay hydrated…drinking 6-8 liters during the day as I ride. I’ll post another one today as well from Terrell…British Pilot training Museum and another pic also of a fantastic station named Kim’s just north of Palestine with great gas, amazing coffee and sandwiches and a patio area…perfect setup. Today’s average was 44.3 mpg on the Norge over 275 miles. With this I added 8 stops over the last 5 days, up to a total of 11 now…hoping for some cooler weekends to bag the ones near Houston and Galveston. A nice 5 days of riding total of 1400 miles from Texas to Kansas and back. A bientot!
  3. Hey Leroy…likewise! Adam was a gentleman….a nice break to chat!! Always a fun gathering in Cedar Vale…that may have been my twin in Coffeeville…I saw the storms brewing in Rogers, Arkansas and decided to head south a little before that! Made it across the Red River for the evening, more adventuring tomorrow before heading home!
  4. Absolutely Chuck…we missed you both!! Nice rally and get together, The birds are chirping, nice and cool here and the usual fun around the proverbial campfire!
  5. Found another spot in Pawhuska Oklahoma with both 87 and 89 Ethanol free at Caseys!!! Up here enjoying a nice weekend in Cedar Vale, Kansas…
  6. Got a few stops in today on the way up to Kansas…Lufkin Texas Forestry museum, 3 stops in Gladewater and 3 stops in Paris Texas. and now for some V11 content…I’m standing at my bike after getting something to drink at a gas station I think near the town of Henderson and a guy comes up and says hello and says his stepdad rides a Guzzi and we chat for a bit and he’s showing me pics of various bikes and one of a Lemans!!! No shit! Who is he…none other than Leroy from Joplin with his red Lemans also headed to Cedar Vale this weekend! Small Guzzi world!!! P6x…by the way I found Ethanol free gas also in Paris right at the exit to go north to Hugo. I think it was 87 or 89…can’t quite remember. Anyway, Norge is running smooth, averages 41 mpg over the 400 miles today with some “spirited long runs” on the Indian turnpike and running 70-80 most of the day.
  7. After removing the old diffuser did you also replace it or just leave the headlight without the diffuser?
  8. You guys are amazingly creative!! Luckily I have the tools at my disposal so let the project begin!
  9. Dank u wel....thanks all for the insights. Will take out the headlight and see if the light can be opened up and diffuser repaired, since it's a black outer shell, I presume it's the outer plastic bucket. Looks like the diffuser has a broken tab. Interesting that the new Stein Dinse replacement does not have a diffuser, wonder if that is a brighter headlight than the OEM one.
  10. The reflector/diffuser on my headlight on the Scura has broken off and is rattling around inside the headlight. It's an octagonal piece of grey plastic, clearly has broken somehow - old age? Has anyone ever taken their headlight apart to get inside it, or is it a fairly extensive "break the seal and reseal" type of operation. Alternatives to stock headlight in case anyone has replaced the OEM one with an aftermarket or "new" old stock? Many thanks in advance!
  11. La macheena...ouch! La makina per piacere! I love the push button start and lighting on the key...nice aesthetic elegance. Lovely sound and scenery...a work of art.
  12. Well, 100% of the damage and then some should be credited and fixed...I do apologize that I sent you in that direction away from your normal location, I'm sure you'll talk to the chief in charge and let him know his reputation is on the line here.
  13. Stunning to say the least...and that caused a part to fall off in the process? The story does sound rather fishy, no other damage was done? Just out of curiosity, what part fell off?
  14. Blistering pace and great riding…you can see the admiration grow between Peco and Fabio…savoring the competition…very pleased to see Marquez at least improving and getting more competitive again!
  15. Sorry to hear that…I would read them the riot act considering the $$$ spent and getting shoddy work in return, odd as they have a very good reputation so hopefully they live up to it.
  16. This is good news indeed...the Camp Hearne run is a good one...nice to see history as well. Hearne is the town where we have done the "equidistant" run for Guzzisti from Houston, Austin, Dallas a few years ago... Glad to hear the V11 is running well!
  17. Actually that's a cool suggestion...I have not tried it yet! Will have to put this on the must visit list on my next trip out to Luckenbach....merci!
  18. Young Roberts impresses me with his very calm demeanor...I do hope he can start to develop a successful career. As much as I love watching Marquez, he's clearly diminished in his capacity at the moment, so I think Moto GP should be promoting the other Spanish riders who are far higher up in the ranking this year than #93...it seems a bit unfair that they don't give the other riders enough "air time". At any rate, good to see Fabio back in play here...he rode a fantastic ride last race, reminded me of Marquez's dominance at COTA.
  19. The ferry ride, albeit short is enjoyable especially on a nice day! Most days you should be able to see dolphins swimming along near the boats…
  20. Nice one!! Great pic! By the way, does your app for tracking mileage also give you an average MPH? That could help correlate then to the MPG…for comparing ethanol vs. non ethanol performance.
  21. If they didn’t replace the exhaust gaskets when removing the exhaust to get to the spark plugs or reused the old ones that could lead to a check engine light. But they should be able to see the codes and identify the issue.
