  1. I give up. I must have the version of google that cannot find 10mm gas spring billet rod end. Mind posting a link?
  2. Linked brakes are a bandaid for really old Harley riders or cadgers who instinctively push with a foot. In a panic situation you want your right hand to be the go to reflex, because that front wheel is what is going to stop you. I did the opposite change on my old Honda GL1200 and un-linked the brakes.
  3. Blight, how much did you have to raise the fork tubes in the triples to use the Woodcraft risers?
  4. At this point, I'd say run it till it blows.
  5. Of course, Houston is actually the home of ZZ Top. La Grange is home of the Chicken Ranch which made Marvin Zindler (slime in the ice machine) famous.
  6. Houston = Mesh. Just bummed that they didn't invent it until after I moved from Houston to Phoenix. Talk about out of the frying pan into the fire ! How did you score a steel single plate? I assume RAM?
  7. Be careful about drawing conclusions from battery voltage readings. Particularly if you don't have a load on the battery at the time. Batteries tend to have a "knee" shaped discharge curve. So, a battery will tend to show something close to rated output until it is near death. You probably are not charging.
  8. Proof in the puddin' No, the pix is not me, I have to carpool M-Th, so I only get to ride to work on Friday. Sposed to be down to 115 on Friday.
  9. Aerostich propoganda !! That pouring water all over yourself is a great idea assuming you don't have to go anywhere or meet anyone (which probably sums up the life of a Stich rider ! ) For those of us who ride with a purpose, like say going to work, those dank clothes look a little odd. Yes, with mesh you will be losing copious amounts of water, Yes, when you are a desert dweller, you need to drink copious amounts of water to compensate not only for sweat, but the massive amount of water you lose simply by breathing. And you will be able to walk into work with nice dry clothes and start your day. Full disclosure section - I own phase change gel vests made by GlacierTek. No water involved. Lasts a couple of hours in 110+ riding. Google it. Full disclosure section #2 - Yes, I hate Aerostich. Because they are snooty Minnesotans. See map above.

    Hot hot hot

London, High 80's Guess it's a WET heat.
  11. From the AZ Beemers Forum . . . . . . . . . . Since I have to carpool Mon-Thurs, I did my RTW today. Should only be 110 this afternoon. Now for anybody who actually does the RTW Monday, when it's likely to be just near 120, you will earn the Eat Sh!t Aerostitch award. Why that name? Because of the map below that Aerostitch published. It purports to show rideable days by city. Note that they show Phoenix at 214 rideable days. Less than Seattle. Less than Anchorage, AK. Are you kidding? They come to this absurd conclusion by saying that if the temperature is more than 95, then it is too hot to ride. What a bunch of wieners. Plus, guess what Aerostitch, other companies have invented this stuff called "mesh". You should try it some time. Bonus points to anyone who can get a picture of you and your bike with a thermometer in the neighborhood of 120, preferably the outdoor billboard type.
  12. Plain old cellophane (Scotch) tape will work. Google your tape to find the thickness. Lay on enough layers to match the spec. Install the sensor, remove and look. Tape crushed, too close. Tape not touched, too far. Light impression in tape, just right.
  13. Something wrong mechanically with the flywheel position sensor? Could account for noise and sputtering.
  14. Blew my chance on the last one that popped up on Ebay. If you have one for sale, please let me know.
  15. I don't think that a TPS is in any way heat sensitive. There's no electronics inside. Besides that, what would it be that could heat it up that much? TPS is a potentiometer, basically a resistor that has a sweep arm to move the connection and change the resistance. And yes, they often will go open with heat. Depending on which side of the sweep arm the open is, the output will either go full on or full off.
  16. Let my friend from Austin use the V11 and we did a day loop around the Devil's Highway. Might have a new convert to the V11 fold. At Morenci mine overlook. Yours truly in front of a mine truck tire. On the way up the hill. Caught some monsoon storms in the mountains. Bear Wallow Cafe in Alpine, AZ.
  17. I was at Laguna Seca in 2005 when he won his 1st MotoGP. It was quite a day and he was great with the fans. He's the last American MotoGP champion, and given the sad state of road racing in America, will likely keep that title for many years to come.
  18. Bad RH Exhaust valve guide ? Something is causing the deformation on the rocker face.
  19. My big disappointment at this years MotoGP - I didn't get a chance to ride down to Lockhart for Black's.
  20. Yep, been a fan of Far Side for many years. And yes, I resemble that remark. Well, except for the ball licking part. And yes, I'm doing it again right now. Not the ball licking part.
  21. Thanks, and having this thread pinged reminds me that I promised some pix from the Hand Built show. Kinda busy at work right now (typing this in the back of a meeting), but stay tuned.
  22. So you're going to make me pull out the bulb and try it on the V11? Sooooo demanding! No, you don't have to take it off of the 850. Just buy a new one, try to fit it, take lots of pictures, then life test it for a while and let us know !
  23. Swoosh, you only confirmed for an 850-T. Sooo, the question is, for a V11 . . .
  24. I'm getting around 33-34 MPG. It does have the Mistrals and a PCIII to suck up some more gas and turn it into sweet sound.
  25. Camn, my #599, which as I understand is about 100 from the last of the run, has the KR VIN. All of the parts differences between the KR and KS parts books align with my bike being a KS build. So, your Scura has a KS VIN? Is your number #672? I'm suspecting that it is an issue of inventory of frames. They maybe built a bunch of frames in 2001 and stamped them with KR VINs then ended up using them on Scura's.
