  1. aye Laddie, i'm in Santa Monica at the mo, i'm heading back to Seattle probably tomorrow though. In fact Dave has 2 Rosso's for sale at MI right now oh and a Scura !!!
  2. well to be fair i havent ridden a post 2001 V11 other than one with Ohlins, but my recomendation is to buy the rosso. The ohlins is expensive to do aftermarket and you know that you'll want it at some point

    MPG?

I'm getting about 120 miles before the low fuel light flickers to life, mostly sitting around the 4500 - 7500 rpm levels in my backroads commute.
  4. i'm jealous My bike will be in SoCal by the end of next week so hopefully Mr Egan can hook up my 2valver Robbie
  5. I agree, i'll be bummed to move in the middle of the month
  6. How do you like that MV Augusta Ago ? I'd looked into the big MV as a possible sports tourer
  7. The ST2 and the V11 Sport are very differernt bikes. As I think JAAP mentioed nnot so long ago, people on this Forum tend to use their V11's for either old-skool type sport bikes OR Sport Touring bikes. Compared to the ST2, the Guzzi really only compares favourably when it comes to Ducati's outrageous service charges. The ST series of bikes are just super comfortable and come with luggage, but they lack a shaft final drive.... Personally I prefer my V11, but it didn't stop me form taking a serious look at the ST4 as an option for a sports tourer second bike. I tyhink i'll go with a Nero Corsa with bags instead btw
  8. Here's the link to the BrakeTech Axis Rotors that i put on 2 months ago. http://www.braketech.com/axis.html i made an error on my last post, actually my Stock Rotors warped at 1200 miles.
  9. i sympathise, my rotors both warped after around 12 miles from new. I finally got round to replacing them with Fully floating rotors from BrakeTech. Now i must say i'm pretty stoked on the increased stopping power
  10. Nae offense or anything but being a native of Dunfermline, Fife and presently residing in Seattle , WA i'd be super surprised if you encounter vapour lock in the Scottish summer
  11. isn't that weird that your "stock" lemans had the pinging issue ? It just goes to show that the initial setup from the factory is kind of suspect for the earlier bikes. As an fyi, when i rode a Nero Corsa this year, none of the build/fit and finish/tuning issues which have existed with my bike seemed applicable. So what do you use your second LeMans for ?
  12. i have the fbf high compression pistons , coupled with the pcIII, stucchi crossover, K&N pods and the mistral ti's. the only thing that i've noticed is that my bike sometimes pops at idle now as its running in a higher state of tune, oh yeah and there was a vibe increase at around 3500 rpm
  13. as jim would attest, the pistons just drop straight in with no additional work required other than tweaking yer Power Commander Map, my bike runs really strong with it's mods.
  14. Hey Jim, fraid to say so, but you're definitely blowing oil when cold under start up. I have the same FBF pistons and when cold they're slightly undersized. Having oil blow through the pistons like that is actually good for the engine and several popular motors do it, including my Audi TT. Maybe you just havenae noticed it because your pipes are not using the high mounts, talking to micha at MI, every FBF kit he's done has blown oil slightly when cold.
  15. Does anyone outside of Mandello know what Guzzi is doing to run higher compression ? When I first saw the anouncement in MCN , i thought immediately of the Ferracci high compression pistons If it is those, be prepared for new Scura R owners talking about blowing oil through the exhaust on startup

    MPG?

The first tank of gas that i used after putting in the high compression pistons was laughable under 110 miles on a tank of gas ! After that, things have settled down to "normal" -around 145 miles or so before the fuel light comes on.
  17. DOPE ! (i'm in the UK currently bikeless until i get back to the US next week so i'm really glad that the forum is back up again )
  18. just as well, seeing as the generator light on my 2001 only works when it feels like it
  19. If you want to sell the lemans fairing let me know ! I want to turn my V11 into a Lemans
  20. i've officially starte looking for some new ohlins forks now so that they will match my Rotors
  21. I feel the same way about a long term relationship with my girlfriend hahahahahahahahahahahaha bring yer bike to work tomorrow Dave, lets go for a ride
  22. I've never had a false neutral on upshift, but occasionally find a false neutral between 3rd and 4th on a lazy downshift. It sucks when you're riding in a spirited fashion and you're relying on the engine braking to let you make the corner It actually happened yesterday when Ingrid was riding my V11. She's so used to riding the super smooth shifting Ex250 that when she found the false neutral she pulled over because she thought she'd found a mechanical problem.

    V11 stand

I so wish i hadnae just left my center stand on the floor at MI and had actually given it away or sold it instead The annoying thing kept touching down way too early in cornering and vibrating like crazy against the pseudo crossover so i ripped it off
  24. Yeah i actuall yahd a similar "moment" when i wired mine Luckily as i dissasembled the old fender, i labelled the wires as i took em off
  25. I got my bike back today Dave ! It's running so well
