  1. we're usually off anyway. do you supermoto guys every race at the track in stockton? San Luis and environs are so good. Might think about moving there!
  2. Pic below shows davidb's exhaust mod. Keep in mind this is a work in progress. Pipes currently are rather on the short and way loud side but this is just trying to figure out where the power is. As tested, dave's v11 rocks. This is one fast guzzi with the front end wanting to come up in 1,2 gears -- mind you I didn't do this but with a twist of the grip (to quote a good book) no problem.
  3. Sounds really fun. Is there an exist off 99 for that Yosemite Road?
  4. All, I'm up for the Modesto thing- meet for breakfast-coffee- and go up anywhichway. You're right Callison, there are beautiful roads up there and those bridges are really cool I hear. How about it??? I got to be back sometime Friday however!! Or like Al said, meet on Sunday a.m. early (same-- breakfast-coffee) and go??? And davidb ougth to come too if he knew what was good for him that's his cool, highly modified v11 next to my black goose.
  5. Hey guzzitim- I have to be here Saturday at any rate - and last night my daughter came home for a week! So going up the coast Friday (and MTL next week!) is out for me. Getting a bunch of guys together to do something is no easy task :!:
  6. Sounds good to me. Name the time. Maybe a dinner thing is better this time of year and not hearing a lot of excitement about the ride (I could be wrong on that though ). What do you other guys want to do -- dinner in Modesto??? Let hear from some of you If people want- my house in Stockton is always open for staying the night if need be too --if too much night riding doesn't suite you. on a side note-- went over to Sear's Point today for the last of the AFM races. Fun but very windy going over and nice going back. Just about got myself piled up coming back though on a new construction part- people were slamming on their brakes in front of me, I must have been asleep at the handlebars cause I didn't see it coming! Had to go wide, make my own lane into the construction area and totally freaked all the cars out behind me! Whew!
  7. Let's hear from the others, if still interested in next week -- thursday- friday thing
  8. Guys- if we're going to do something we need to do it like before next week is up (from my view!). And it's getting colder! And I don't have those cool grip warmers and butt warmer like Al has That Mendocino thing sounds good- what route? Funny thing on the Fresno thing - on my way up 99 to Stockton I stopped (my only one) in Fresno- Oliver? exit?
  9. Either of you guys have a suggested time frame here Hwy 1 to Moro Bay is definately an overnighter. Going Hwy 4 up to Lake Alpine and Mosquito Lakes is a day ride (2- 2.5 hours one way from Stockton)-- but mr. weather is getting colder
  10. Carl, (and all) -- I would definately suggest a week day as the traffic will be way less
  11. after I got home I washed the goose, mowed the lawns, and had a .....
  12. The main event. Hwy 58 from here over to Bakersfield is like absolutely remote and unpopulated (no gas, no nothing) and zero traffic. Low spped twisties to high speed sweepers the whole way. Use all the darn gears. Go slow and sight see. Go fast and smile. You have 66 miles of this stuff until you get to McKittrict (spelling?). I'm telling you guys, a bunch of us ought to do this run! After Bakersfield, I visited long time friends and took hwy 99 up to Stockton averaging 80 I think going up (the 3rd day). stopped once in Fresno for 30 minutes and then again when I got home. Good for me to go like that on the darn hwy/interstate. Nice ride too. The 03 le mans was PERFECT. Needs an oil change now too.
  13. This is 17 miles of ..... SEE PIC..... newly paved, looks like a race track (i.e., one lane looking). Watch out for ..... deer, rabbits, wild pigs!)-- leading over to hwy 58. The road is like for gears 1,2,3 and maybe 4 although I'm probably wrong on that!
  14. Next day, left at 8:00 again and took hwy 41 out of Moro Bay over to Atascadero (spelling???) and continued on hwy 41 to Creston (village). Moro Bay over to Atascadero was little to none traffic and twistie but unforturnately the sun was coming up right into my eye balls! So I proceeded with caution due to sun when called for! You have got to stop in Creston. Cool little place (I'd like to live there I think!). The owner of the general store owns a HD and just got back from the Reno bike thing. He pointed out a little used road leading to hwy 58.
  15. 3 days. 700 miles. Some of the BEST motorcycle roads I have EVER SEEN! Left good 'ol Stockton at 8:00 ( I was gong to go to good 'ol Cedarville but changed my mind!) and headed down I-5 in CA and took hwy 152 over to Monterey and the Coast Hwy 1. It was highly cold and highly, highly windy going down 5 and over the pass on hwy 152. Puts a new meaning to being sideways! Stopped at Casa de Fruta for gas and flapped my arms to warm up! I put on a long sleeve t-shirt there too under my Comet jacket (OK, I thought it was going to be warm- At 3 hours I was below Monterey and heading down hwy 1! Light traffic. I had never been on this road before down to MOro Bay! You have got to do this! Great twisties and unbelievable views. Stopped at Gordo for gas on dead emply! No gas anywhere along this route too - so pick your spots carefully! After 6.5 hours, I arrived at Moro Bay (Pic). That's me in a hot tub, with my big toe pointing at either my goose or Moro Head (the rock!). Great place with cool people (locals are highly sociable/friendly). Prices are like 10 years behind the times I think).
  16. I know. But beyond that, you mean MY bike has something none of the others has :!: oh and Al (on another thread) - I've already conacted Harpers
  17. Al, really cool. How did you remove the eagle? and where did you get those bad cylinder head protectors? :!: and how about those nice red valve covers? where can I find those Hey Al, we should go for a ride up to Cedarville in the next 2 weeks! Perfect time of year as long as the passes are open.
  18. hmmm. My 03 lemans does that too and it really bugs me as I don't know what it is or even where it is coming from! I THINK it's my rear brake caliper/rotor. But as to why.... :!:
  19. OK, just wanted to add something to the NEW forum and there's nothing like a dumb (or at least odd) question. The rear brake rotor on my 03 lemans has a bronze or copper (?) ring around its outside edge. Why is that? The front rotors are steel with no "gold" edge. What's the difference? Anyone notice this? I didn't! Some people standing around my bike at an event in Stockton did last week and I didn't have an answer
  20. Al, after we got my tps and tb all set, my idle rose up to 1100. Before it was around 800-900 and was too low. This seems about right and does not creep. Maybe this is a heat thing and maybe related to where you box intakes are pointing (there was a thread on that I believe) - like maybe at lights the intakes are scooping more hot air from the engine and the sensor doesn't like that.
  21. MG in georgia is 678-238-0902 - people there are professional. Customer care is everything, THAT is a true statement. I saw your bike in that store! Very cool. I know what you mean about riding in the twisties using engine compression and throttle control- way good.
  22. I have set my valves several times on my 03 --Like Al said-- leave the darn fairing on! Either loosen that last fairing screw by the cover and gently lift ever so slightly to get an allen wrench in there or just try putting the allen wrench in there (the fairing underside appears to have a rought finish so even if you hear a scraping sound while turning the allen wrench, it doesn't hurt the fairing (so far!). No problem I also pop by pipes off the heads, loosen the bolt holding the pipe to the crossover, then the alternator cover comes right off after taking off the two screws holding the temperture sensor plate above the cover (that has to come off too to get the alternator cover off).
  23. The pics of Peachtree Road are terrific - I will have to ride over there. What's it like on a weekend, traffic wise? Nice report
  24. Hey, Sorry about the gas thing-- but on that subject, every bike I've owned has run just plain "regular" at the pump. That goes for Honda VTR and Ducati 900, and I-4's. Do you guys have to run that high octane stuff? As people can tell from previous posts, I no less than zero mechanically! When you first gave that descriptionup in the hills - it sounded just like my goose when it blew a sleeve thing from the left intake. I'll still try and leave the high octane stuff for the race-day bikes.
