  1. '03 Le Mans going to good home. Black and Gun Metal. 2" custom risers, carbon cans and rear hugger; L-L-Loaded. Will send pics to serious parties. 12k miles.
  2. mark- good info. I plan on leaving Stockton at like 6-6:30 and heading to hollister. See you there! Dave, are you heading over the day before? cheers
  3. adum ditto ditto (isn't that a double negative) I use my helmet lock all the time. My carbon fiber pipes don't get hot so no worries. Sorry.
  4. ya know, we riders in norcal need to get out more! Ya'all make us look bad Martin, quite a camping set-up there. Looks like Al on Monday morning I hear.
  5. 12th looks good to me. Can't do it sooner though...
  6. darn Mark! what terrific shots and info -- darn again. in two weeks I can ride! let's go again! way to pick a route guy

    Tire Pressure

running bt 020's (which I don't really like) at 34/36.5. I try and keep them there by checking all the time! Front end seems to like that 34. My next tires will probably 014's -- any comments on those?
  8. I've been 100% satisfied with my regular weight Throttlemeister bar ends. Simple installation and the heavy vibration is history
  9. get a set of speed bleeders for front brakes and clutch -- see threads here for the right size. they are very inexpensive and save tons of time changing fluids. like Mal said, left side- remove the rear shock remote adjuster to get access to the bleeder/nipple. That'll give you access to get your hand in to the clutch bleeder/nipple is. If you have speed bleeders, use a wrench to remove the existing bleeder (on my '03 it was an 8mm I think) and screw in the speed bleeder. Some clutch fluid will spill out but what the heck. Attach the speed bleeder plastic hose/tubing to the nipple, crack the valve open slightly and pump the clutch lever-- the fluid will come out and you don't have to worry about air getting back in due to the check valve built into the speed bleeder. Top off the clutch resevoir and you're done. I did clutch and both front calipers in 15 minutes. Some have said to remove the rear tire to get to the bleeder for the clutch. I don't really see how that could be easier than the above. Way more work involved too.
  10. I could be wrong deben but for the lemans '02 and up I believe top speed listed at 133 (cycle world)

    headshake

the guzzi is a lot of things for sure... hmmmm seems we are too davidb has a point when he says it is not just the headshake but all the other stuff (btw- I've had mine routinely to 120 - yellowlining in gears 1-5 (how can you really ride w/o yellow lining or occasionally going into rev limiter?), and to 130 numerous times with no headshake, like I've said-- my moments have come at high highway speeds going straight (only a couple of times and in the early morning), I've had my oil filter fall off (beat that somebody) and yes, I know how to put an oil filter on; my exhaust pipe break in half and a few other little things . Maybe thats a guzzi. We all are looking for different things from our bikes -- after all, what's a bike afterall but an extention of you (pretty philosophical, eh )

    headshake

you know some of my thoughts on the subject dave! but as to tank-slapping - my old honda vtr 1000f would habitually tank slap going very hard out of turns. Seems like the tank slap thing would be at 90-100 mph. Like I said, I'd lighten my grip and keep the throttle on or add throttle, to settle it down. My ow goose hasn't done that but I don't ride it as hard as that I think. It has done wierd stuff going straight (!) at speed on bumpy roads - that's when I needed to grip like heck to keep the front end from falling away (3-4 times)! BTW- each time that happened I thought maybe the tires were contributing- as they were still coldish, and each time was in the early morning when it was cold out too ???
  13. dittos on the forum guzziownr. Welcome as well Do you have a group to ride with there? Nice '75 el dorado and the new '04 sport naked looks awsome.
  14. cal and Al, I'm still stuck on the zerk fittings! what type of greese do I need for those little nibs and like Al said, how do you get to the forrward one without removing the rear wheel?
  15. lol I doubt if that was me davidb, although I don't really know what roads I was on! A guy on a beamer was pretty far ahead of me way down on Palermo (?) road I think, as he went by while I was pulled over looking at the view. What do you think of the gasket thing? The new ones were way thicker than my old ones I took out. Everything seemed better by far too.. callison- let's do it. When are you moving? and where again (my memory thing!). The speed barrier thing is internal callison! I can go 130 but then I reason, "if I go faster and something let's go, I might get hurt" I've never been too much over 130. A blip of thought goes into speeds up to 110. A few more blips of thought go into up to 120 and then I start thinking above that cause it takes a few seconds longer to get from 120 to 130, then too much thinking time...! These bikes get to you. sometimes I'd like to sell mine to avoid some nasty mechanical surprise, but then I've handled everything to date and the goose has that unique look, feel, and sound- I really like all of it (still want a second bike btw).
  16. I am thinking of printing out this entire thread as a positive example of frustration tolerance Among favorite internet frustration tolerance sayings: Life ain't about how fast you run, or how high you climb, but how well you bounce... Life is simpler when you plow around the stump Forgive your enemies. It messes up their heads Every path has a few puddles on the other hand- messing with your goose is serious stuff
  17. Thanks Tx and dlaing - I've been wanting exact relay info too and thanks to you we all have it. Hope this is the trick stormsedge. I've wanted to replace my oem relays but was hung up on the 5 pin vs 4 pin difference. Talk about being organized-- my LAST trip to moto italiano in san jose, looking at Al's bike - his relays were silver colored and each one specifically labeled- cool.
  18. tell you the truth Al, I didn't actually see your actual bike this trip I was in and out in 10 minutes -- I did walk through the shop too, sat on the speed triple and yapped (howbeit quickly). So, you're saying that you've got those cans on your bike We've got to all get together (the 'ol nor cal group) and ride somewhere- and I for one am all for that road less traveled thing Today, I rode to Moke Hill (shortened version as I can't spell it-- see davidB for that!) for lunch -- best ride yet-- that goose ran perfectly. I'm thinking the new exhaust header gaskets were needed too -- any insight on those little thought of parts?

    Redline in 6th

last year in nevada, I was at 130 and slightly plus at 6500 slightly plus. flat level. could have got slightly more, but not much.
  20. sweet next year I'd sure like to go
  21. OK, this is going to be POSITIVE - for anyone who's stuck on the negative soundings springing from forums (any forum) Wednesday, drove to moto italiano and paid homage to Al's work of art Absolutely zero backfire too. The goose ran smooth and strong. Let's go riding

    Helmets?

ya know-- that is a really cool helmet. Al ought to buy it Then we can all gawk at it and then maybe dealers here would carry stuff like that and then I could get one too hey DeBenGuzzi- Suomy is sue-ah-mey. But then I stutter! A friend of mine who works in Finnland told me Suomy sounds like the Finnish word for what they call their country (even though the helmet is made is Italy) -- anyone want to check on that???? BTW - a highly good helmet- ultra lightweight and tough. Some wind noise however (hence - my earplugs)
  23. duh. I get it now. RacerX is you, Todd Egan. So I'm a little slow on the uptake. I haven't got my copy yet of Cycle World- but, am really looking forward to it. Hey, you going be at the AFM next Saturday-Sunday? I'd be interested in hearing how you got into guzzi (figures however if you already 'splained all that and I missed it....

    Helmets?

I've been perfectly happy with Shoei, Arai, Suomy. I also wear earplugs from www.etymotic.com
  25. cracked weld joint? Like my 03? Like costing me lots to replace? Is this the same weld problem that they got a handle on? Just chimming in here also to silicone to natural
