  1. That's not right; Buell warrants those for the life of the bike or something similarly ridiculous, don't they? Unless he insists on driving on gravel roads [0] all the time [1], his (dealer - d + st) is doing something wrong w/ the alignment of the rear wheel.[2] I'm looking forward to test-riding the new stretched XB12r [based on the Ulysses] this coming summer when Buell makes their next rounds; the XB9x CityX I drove last year to get my freebie Buell slingbag [nice promo totchke, btw!] was a nice bike, but needed more stonk & room to move, which the bigger XB12r should be able to deliver. But it's just a test-ride, not a defection! [0] - belts are notoriously sensitive to gravel getting caught between the belt & the pulley blowing out the belt... [1] - the new Ulysses has a revamped belt specifically because of this [2] - maybe a tweaked swingarm?
  2. Yes. Only comes in grape; I'm more of a strawberry fan. BTW, it's perfectly dreadful stuff; I strongly advise staying away from it!
  3. Wow, bathtubs & dp'd? You've got one of Cliff Jeffries' boxes of electronic magic or the system DLaing is messin' with to dial back the advance? Seems to me you're in a prime position to really help determine just how much more efficient the old donk could be; dyno ol' Billy, throw the new(old) heads on & redyno Bob to see if being able to dial back the advance to something more modern like in the 18deg range really makes that much of a difference! As far as what's "fair," that can only be determined by a willing seller & buyer; since I'm pretty dang broke, my fair is probably a lot less than your's! Ride on!
  4. Do I get a point for correcting the "thumper" title? Thumpers are 4-stroke singles; 2-smokes need not apply! That said, I'm going to toss "Jawa" out as my guess for manufacturer...
  5. Very illuminating, to say the least! Kinda silly that they go to all the trouble of using that fancy oval tubing, etc. - only to punch a couple of tiny holes for x-flow! The durn thing is more about music than plumbing... Can't wait to see the results from your mod (pix and dyno graphs both!)
  6. Q: How many atoms in a guacamole? A: Avocado's number... Nerd humour. Ain't it gran... er, sad?
  7. Why, but oh why would you want to undermine your peanut butter & chocolate sandwich by adulterating the chocolate spread with the subtle taste of filberts? [Hazelnuts to you non-N. Americans] Heck, why would you waste time w/ a peanut butter & chocolate sandwich when there's peanut butter & honey to be had? Life's great mysteries...
  8. Speaking of the Griso & longer rods & all; how hard would it be to swap in the lower deck-ht. pistons &longer rods of the Breva/Griso engine into a v11? Granted that doing that isn't going to affect the v11's lack of dual-plugging, but how significant is the rod-ratio to the overall efficiency of the engine? Just speculating here... Excellent point, & it goes a long way toward 'splainin' the incredible complexity of the Dr. John-leftover windage tray I saw on eBay recently. Is there a printable pattern for your windage tray so that I can print it, glue it to a handy piece of sheetmetal & cut it out myself? Thanks for all the "wrench eye view" reports & congrats on your Griso!
  9. I agree, but dual plugging seems to fix all these problems on old 2valve motors.of corse it wont hurt either 83357[/snapback] Kludging the pinging problem by going to dual-plugs is reasonable for a solitary individual since the increased machine operations & extra parts are insignificant concerns on an individual scale; from a production standpoint, it's much more cost-effective to do it right by redesigning the heads & pistons to do the same job with a more efficient burn off one spark plug. Or did you think the H-D 50mpg numbers came about because of their great power/wt ratio? Even dual-plugged, the inefficient chamber design of the Guzzi engine doesn't see those numbers. C'mon, Ricardo told everybody about this 70 years ago; it's time Guzzi kept up!
  10. Actually, it's parts per million: I think only CARB uses grams/mile in their "LEV/SLEV/XLEV/ILEV/EV" [1] ratings... Ride on! [1] - Low Emissions Vehicle, SuperLow EV, eXcruciatingly LEV, Idiotically LEV, Electric Vehicle. Interesting how the last category actually puts more emissions into the environment than any of the former, but I guess since the coal-fired powerplants are in another state it's O.K...
  11. Sorry I cannot confirm, but I must say that the name above seems a pretty accurate match to the Tenni green, as descriptions go. Luuuuv that Tenni green & silver combo!
  12. Wow! That's bizarre; I never saw his thread come up until the day I posted to it! I only log in to v11LM with "look for new posts" & that was the first time Orangeokie's thread came up! That's weird... But I defer to his priority, & still call for a redirect, only now to append the posts of the thread I started to this one. Thanks for the correction!
  13. PIR? I'm guessing it's P_______ Internotional Raceplace, but don't hold me to it... I'm thinking what you're thinking tho', Pinky: free track time is as good as freeee beeeer !
  14. The ceramic engines ran into problems with NOx emissions when the automakers 1st started down that path in the 80's; now that we have 2-way catcons, this shouldn't be the impassable hurdle it was back then with the oxidizing-only 1 stage catalytic converters. So I agree, there's hope for continued life in an A/C engine yet... Hear, hear! Altho', I must admit that I like it simply because a field composed of largely-identical bikes with everyone following the "pace line" around the course is quite tedious, so having a nice mix in the field just makes the racing better from the spectators' position... I guess we'll just have to wait & see, and keep our fingers crossed!
  15. As others have said: congratulations, a big "Attaboy!" & slap on yer back for the good news! WRT the factory's expectation of keeping your font of information muzzled henceforth: you should perhaps take the precaution of creating an alternative persona, unknown to any of us [nudge, nudge, wink, wink] and use that for revelations of a factory nature. Plausible deniability & all that, doncha know.... 'Sides, we'd hate for you to have your status yanked just for trying to help out the other guzzisti worldwide!
  16. Uh, yeah, I posted it about a week ago. [Can I get a redirect to the prior thread?] But, the deal is worth repeating!
  17. Well, if you're going to stay with the daft hemi combustion chamber, yeah... Still, finding a pair of square heads at a fair price to modify w/ bathtub chambers eludes me; seems that anytime someone parts out their bike, it's either an old roundie being truly parted out, or a later vintage Guzzi with the engine sold as a unit & the rest being parted. Don't bogart those heads!
  18. On that note, will the Griso headers fit a v11, or is the spacing enough different that it won't work [interference w/ v11 alternator lump, etc?] Hate the Griso muff, but the headers look the perfect Rx to make a spiffy v11 custom...
  19. There's something wrong with a world where this yutz gets to come home to Nikki Cox every night... but not from his P.O.V!
  20. [only he's not! We really a similar smilie that says "AOhelL" (as in, quoting a gigantic post to append "me too" on it... ) or "what he said."]
  21. No telling, but I'm guessing a heavy-lifter weedwhacker along the Sikorsky sky-crane theme? Obviously, no actual lifting from hover, just cargo transport to unimproved fields. Think about it from the Sovietski P.O.V.: a bazillion acres of taiga with no way of moving stuff in or out except by helo. You can fly a commando of sappers armed with chainsaws in one of these things, rappel them down, & have a landing space cleared for it to set down before it can make it back with the field hq, kitchen & showers on the second trip. The Soviets were famous for that, whipping up a single-purpose brute-force attack kind of tool. Gotta keep the proles busy, you know! I hesitate to think what the fuel consumption on that thing was!
  22. Fab pix, is Jean-Marc doing more of these, or are yours strictly one-off? I'm thinking there's a buncha v11 owners who'd be interested in such a well-thought-out & -made bit of kit...
  23. Typo. You'll note that the "k" key is just above the "m." A stock Eldo pushing the police-spec barn door windshield should just be able to break 140kph [approx. 87mph.] This is similar to the recorded top speed of 82mph [at Bonneville] of a Shovelhead Harley pushing it's barndoor. The difference being that the Eldo is giving away 350cc to the Harley & could keep that speed up all day... I'm interested in seeing what his topspeed is with the B10. Next stop will probably be changing the final drive to get some taller gearing...
  24. One thought: if you're not trying to maintain "period correctness," then you could go with the Lectron's lineal descendants, Edelbrocks [aka Quicksilver.] Easier to tune than the Lectrons, same excellent mixing. Best o' luck!
