  1. Out on the bike yesterday and this thread came to mind. Went up to tomintoul, dufftown, grantown on spey along to keith passing quite a few of the distilleries on the way. Every carpark is full of coaches, cars and bikes doing the distillery tours. I have done this route a hundred times and never stopped or even bought a bottle. Might have to give it a try and see what all the fuss is about.

  2. I went through a few speedo cables a while back, every few hundred miles they would fail. When i went to the v twin a few years back (1200 miles) i thought i would do a bit of pre emptive maintenance and change out the speedo cable for a new one so i would have a working speedo for the entire trip, it failed halfway down the road. When i got home i refitted the old cable and hey ho its worked ever since. So the secret is !!!!

  3. Hey grossohc, can you clarify which your bike is like? Dangerous showed us a photo above of his Le Mans Nero Corsa battery box, not the Cafe Sport bike he is working on for somebody. He says his buddy's Cafe does *not* look like the picture above, and all the battery tray mounting tabs are missing... So does your Cafe Sport look like the Nero Corsa photo or no? We're trying to figure out if somebody modified his friend's Cafe Sport.

Mine is exactly the same as the nero corsa and i have a pc545 oddysey battery fitted. They are all the same  (i think)

  4. I done this job a few years back and dont think i could get the screw to move either. Is there not a nut on the opposite end of the screw!! I slackened the nut just enough for the plate to raise and get clearance over the shafts then turned it 180 degrees after that and then tightened the nut again( there was not a lot of thread to start with) then there is plenty of room to work on the selectors etc.

  5. I think the speedo has been changed so would not believe the mileage on the café sport. My iti marked one failed at 20000 miles and was replaced with the same dur one (albeit MPH). Also the ohlin forks are slightly different from mine in that mine has the cap screws on both forks and a hollow axle. nothing wrong with the ones that are on (they are on rossa corsa,s etc.). Then again that's just me comparing a UK spec bike against that one, maybe other café sport owners could chime in.

  6. I fitted an adjustable aftermarket one whos brand escapes me at the moment but it doesnt have the rubber isolators just rose joints on each end.

It transmits noticeable but not really annoying level of bevel box gear rattle and driveshaft slop vibration through the footpeg on a neutral throttle. The l/h footpeg suprisingly.

    Ciao

That will be the rossopuro one i think, have one fitted as well but never noticed any vibration.
