  1. Last summer, not long after I mounted these shims, my right head pipe cracked, and I welded it. This summer my left cracked, and I welded again. Both cracked just a few cm from the head. I believe it has to do with these shims being solid and not (a little) flexible, as the original shims.

Or it could be coincidence, there has been a few cases of cracked exhaust pipes without the use of these shims, some have even cracked without having the crossover pipe!!!.

  2. I have a 2004 cafe sport as well, I changed the spring with 21000 miles on the clock( paranoia was getting to me ) the spring was like new, changed it anyway and it is now my spare if this one goes. Strange how some bikes springs go and some dont :homer: . Touching wood whilst stroking a black cat :P

  3. After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, French scientists found

traces of copper wire dating back 200 years and came to the conclusion

that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 150 years ago.

Not to be outdone by the French: in the weeks that followed, American

archaeologists dug to a depth of 20 feet before finding traces of copper

wire. Shortly afterwards, they published an article in the New York Times saying

"American archaeologists, having found traces of 250-year-old copper wire,

have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech

communications network 50 years earlier than the French."

A few weeks later, 'The British Archaeological Society of Northern

England' reported the following: "After digging down to a depth of 33 feet in the

Skipton area of North Yorkshire in 2011, Charlie Hardcastle, a self-taught

amateur archaeologist, reported that he had found absolutely F**k all.

Charlie has therefore concluded that 250 years ago, Britain had already

    Gone wireless.

Just makes you bloody proud to be British, don't it?

  4. Just tidying up the bike for a rally in a couple of weeks and emptied out all the crap in the tail of the bike. So in my toolkit i have added circlip pliers, leatherman and a cutdown allen key. I have spare brake and clutch levers, gearbox spring ( the original :notworthy: ) a homemade part that goes between the gear lever and rod ( made it after seeing martin barrets break in ireland a few years back) ,fuses, tywraps, relays, puncture outfit ( used it once on BFG,s bike,in ireland ) a spark plug and cap with wire, phase sensor and a tps. I also will probably have to get aneutral, clutch, sidestand switch as i have a intermittent electrical fault that first started outside joey dunlops pub (in ireland) bike is running rough so getting a tune up and put on the axone on the way to the rally , so if anything looking dodgy i can get it changed out there and then  . Lucky for me the rally isnt in Ireland  Or i would have to take a spare V11

  5. I have thought about doing this mod a few times. But living in wetter climes than most, the water spray without the rear mudguard to catch it would be a no no for me, unless someone who has done it knows different. I just dont want to be cleaning a permanently wet rear end covered in s***e all the time. Had enough of that when the kids were small

  6. If you are talking about the killswitch on your handlebar leave it in the run position all the time as it isnt part of the starting/stopping procedure and use the key to start and stop the bike. If that doesnt clear the problem it could just be a loose/faulty relay, so take off the seat and check they are all fully home. From the back of the bike the relay order is ( i think) injection, ecu, neutral/ clutch!! , lights and the last one is starter ( nearest the tank).

    Good luck :luigi:
