  1. Do you mean the new flywheel went bad? Or is it just the friction plate is worn out? Either way is bad because you have to take it all apart. BUT a friction plate, like a brake pad is a wearable item.

No,sorry, not flywheel,Gregg said friction plate and mentioned something about pressure plate being stuffed.I think he is going the twin plate.

  2. Sold my Scura a couple of months ago to someone who is a member here.he e-mails me 2 or 3 weeks later and tells me the Ram clutch is toast.I replaced the oem clutch @ 28000km just in time before it grenaded itself. The bike has now got 62000ish km.That means 34000km out of a $1200AU clutch. All I can say is,What a shit clutch. It also makes me feel like a rite prick.I thought the Ram was bullet proof? Mark

  3. Are you unhappy with your Scura?

No Orson,I'm very happy with it,I've put 62000km on the bike trouble free thanks to this forum.I think I need a duel purpose bike @ this stage so I can do some dirt with the buds.

The bike sold the other day to a mate on this forum,He already has a Greeny and a Caly,so I know the bike is going to a good home, and one I 'm sure I can go and see any time I want. I will buy a Guzzi again one day but for now I will have to do without. My loss Cheers Mark

  4. Just saying Hi, as I lurk hear often enough to learn about my future passion I thought it rude if I didnt at least introduce myself.

Im looking to buy a Moto Guzzi V11 in Australia, probably a Ballabio or Scur or heck anything with low K's but kept in good shape by an enthusiast.

Im currenty stuck on a Vespa *please dont say anything, its punishment enough :(*

I use to own a classic triumph Tiger/bonny and pulled it apart more times than I could remember.

Funny thing is i started looking at modern Thruxtons, then Ducati sport classics, and Moto Guzzi's. And the bike that kept drawing me back with the most

charachter and possibility for tinkering was the MG V11!

So now I wait and save my pennys *hopeing to pick one up around the 10k aus mark* and contiue to lurk these forums and gather tech site/parts favorites :)

Anyway cheers and hope you travel well,

    Miki.

Wish I had of seen this post a couple of weeks ago, cause I selling my Scura,It would of been more money but it already has Ohlins and $4500 worth of extra's.

  5. That RSV4 looks very nice- short and compact- great showing in its very first race.

Road version is the third the price of a Desmosedici- or twice the price of an R6 depending upon how you want to look at it!

I went to PI to see the first round,The RSV4 sounds the goods and so does the M1.Great to see live,It was my first time.

  6. I'm ready to ship Omron high reliability relays!

I'm happy to say I have Dan Pruneske's blessing. I didn't want to interfere with his livelihood, so I offered to supply him as an exclusive distributor. Dan declined because he does not want to add to his retail business. He's making $150/hour on CE consulting, and it isn't worth it to him to expand it and take more of his time. On top of that, he has plenty of outside activities. Dan even offered to set up a link to my website once I get some info on the relays there. He's a good man. My field is mechanical, electrical and hydraulic, which depend on the U.S. manufacturing base. That's been declining fast since China was given most favored nations status, so I'm hungry.

Interestingly, Dan's view on specs is pretty sceptical. He gave me no pushback on the relay comparison I did. He feels manufacturers can put out any specs they want. In my case, I believe Japanese and U.S. makers are more credible than the notorious Chinese.

My introductory pricing is $8 for the sealed version and $5 for the unsealed for my friends on this forum that have waiting patiently. I can only offer the SPDT version, which will work in all positions. This is basically at my cost. If volume builds, I'll keep the prices at that level. If not, I will consider raising prices later on. Shipping and packing cost will be $5.00 regardless of quantity, because I can fit lots of them in the US Postal Service mailer.

Please send check or money order payable to Matra Inc., addressed to:

    John Mickowski

    50 Walling Road

    Warwick, NY 10990

Remember to include your shipping address and how many of each type.

    Thanks for your patience. :bike:

Hey Ryland, you still doing thoes sealed Omron Relay's cheers Mark.

  7. thanks Pete, but I think this tool I got today at work should be able to do it.

I do remember discussions, but it was some time ago so freshen things up a bit.

Wish I had one of thoes when I pulled mine out,I was out to get a bodge point with that screwdriver and hammer.

  8. spoke to a reputable local supplier yesterday on the spindle diameter issue. he reckons that they are SUPPOSED to have steps machined in them and thus, stop panicking. He coudlnt give me a dimension to check wear but commented he had never been asked to replace one before;ie stop whining, start riding.

    ill take his advise

The 2001 model seem to be different than 2002.My spindle is the same diameter right through. My mates Rosso that I have been ridding for a few days is not.Mine slides right out,his you need to bash out,{for the want of a better word}.

  9. savage henry; wow, good to know thanks; THE MANUAL IS WROMG THEN!!!!

Ill clean and grease the cush and repeat; whats the deal with drilling them? I couldnt find any references when I searched.

I agree on this site and you are right, I have gained heaps and owe some goodwill in return.

Mark; on the bearing i took the lazy/safe option and sent it to pete roper with instructions to give the whole drive a once over. Figure at 50k its probably wortha check anyway.

So then did Roper change your needle bearing?Mine is stuffed, thinking of replacing it with nylon bush.

  10. hey

doing my rear end work, replacing bevel bearing i noticed my rear axle/spindle is worn. Cant find dimensions anywhere, any one know what it should measure in diameter?

Im getting anywhere between 19.69 and 19.95mm.

Second question on the axle torque

The relevant page showing diagram suggests 28-30Nm for the spindle nut, which seems very low to me.

HOWEVER, the torque table at the front of the manual says 120Nm for the "rear wheel spindle screw (housing side)"

Is this the rear axle or is it something else?

I note the front spindle value is 90-100 so it would be logical the rear is similar and not so low....

    nigev11

Hay Nige, how'd you go getting that needle bearing out of your bevel?did you press it out.?

  11. I have just had a similar "no start" issue with my 2000 V11. It would sometimes after a long run refuse to start - this would then cure itself magically after about 5 minutes sometimes with the bike just sitting, sometimes with me quietly swearing at the bike or fiddling with relays and fuses.

This got worse about 3 weeks ago and I had to trailer it back home 50 miles to fiddle as nothing seemed to fix it. I thought I had isolated the problem to a bad injector relay which I then changed to a GEI one and the problem was gone for a couple of weeks.

The problem returned last week - I spent all day Saturday on it and found that the spade clips under the relay blocks were loose in the block and pushing back out of the block instead of engaging tightly on the male spade of the relay as the relay was pushed in - hard to pick as the blocks are tight up against the side of the tail body work. When I had fitted the new relay I must have just made enough contact to keep it running for a couple of rides till it vibrated away again.

I have now ordered a new set of the slide together relay blocks to fit up and see if I can fix the problem for good along with crimping the spring sides of the female connectors down well as I refit them - I just thought it was worth mentioning in case this is another culprit in your problem ?

    Good Luck !!

So your back on the road again Greg? Now you need to come for a ride up ths coast.

  12. The seals are available through your friendly local Yamaha dealer, part number 256-14997-00. Minimum order was ten though so I wound up buying $37 worth or something like that. Worst part, I don't know for certain they're the right seals as I haven't rebuilt any throttle bodies yet. I don't remember where, when or who posted the original post either. However, if you're interested in trying some out, PM me and perhaps I can reduce my "parts inventory" a bit.

    Callison,u changed out thoes seal's yet,if so,how'd u go.
