How's this,changing my springs out the other day to put 10kg rates in cause I'm a fat prick.Chucked the old ones on the work bench.Mr Forrest, from this forum, whom lives not far away, comes to check the show out and say's,gee those springs look different.Having never seen them on the bench @ the same time I stopped what I was doing :luigi: to have look. :pic: Sure looks like it I said. So we measure the suckers.One spring is 4.5mm thick, the other is 4.8mm.The latter being the size of the new ones.The new one's have numbers on them and the old one's don't.I've bought the bike with 4000km on the clock 3 years ago so I would assume they are original. Could someone get it this wrong?What's even worst I've been riding around on them for three years. :homer: WOOOO-does it handle good now. :bier:

    Did the leaking o ring you replaced look bad to you? I was having a leak in my right fork where the o ring is at the top. I unscrewed the cap & had a look but it looks fine to me. I called my local dealer to get the new ones asap anyway. Since I screwed the cap back on I havent seen anymore leaks

     

    My Ohlins started leaking out of my rebound adjuster on top,There is a little o ring in there as well. Your's may be the same. :bier:

  3. I've had that M1 on for a few days, now, and like it very much for commuting. Here's why: My commute includes quite a bit of pavement that was "re-surfaced" by gringing it down to the level of the potholes using a big machine that leaves squiggly grooves all along the pavement. THe Pilot Power rear used to track along each of those squigles and make the rear of the bike feel wiggle independantly from the front. The M1s ignore those squiggles, so the rear end feels planted. I haven't tried the M1 at extreme lean angles yet, but I love it so far

    I think most tyres would do this after some miles as they create a flat spot in the centre of the tyre. :2c:

  4. 57000km.

    still original speedo cable, clutch cable, and all electrics bar indicator relay. two rear wheel bearings replaced, brake pads replaced 50000k + regular maintenance intervals of 5k-6k usualy oil change using full synthetic, filter changed every second oil change when tappets are checked but only ever made three adjustments! bought new in 2000 and being a 1998 model. costs of owning has only been fuel, tyres, rego and several chains :homer: sorry wrong forum! now back to mz riders . com :grin:

     

    You forgot to mention a litre of oil every 300km's mate :2c:

    Now all I've got to do is arrange to get it to MPH, get it clutched and re-sprung for a massive lardy and get over there to give it the flogging it so richly deserves! :grin:

     

    then I have to battle with the F#ckers at DOTARS to get it back to OZ. That'll be fun. NOT :vomit:

    Jap-in-oz has already imported a Scura into Australia,he might be able to come up with some pointers.

    This will bring the numbers back up {15 I think}, as there has been a couple of write-off's. :drink:

  6. BTW, Iwouldn't go suggesting to the avian molester to improve his TL1000 output just yet as he is still getting the hang of the power from the 660 Muz. Might put him over a cliff, so to speak.

     

    Oh did I mention oil leaks.

    That was my my bike pete,the one with Cliff's ecu. the one that won the best Note.

    I told you @ the rally;Forrest does not own a Guzzi,He ownes some ugly thing called a Cagiva Rupture, :bbblll: got the SV motor in it.

    Front springs on the Scura are very soft,I have'nt changed mine out yet but it's gunna be next. I'm about as muscley as you I think, 90kg.it would be nice to know your spring rates some time when you get back if it's not to much trouble.

    Have a good holiday anyway and I'll send you an e-mail when you get back.

  8. OK, now made a decent test ride. I can tell you this made a difference to the better. No ringing noise. In fact no noise at all, just the (to me) normal chain sound that I've never heard before on this engine. Idling is rock stable, it's like a Toyota V6 I used to own (I really miss that one). After getting the oil up to some 95°C, I stopped and let it idle for several minutes (until dipstick thermometer passed 100°C). It never missed, never varied at all. If I wanted to I could probably set the idle to 600 rpm but people have told me it's not a good idea. Low yet steady idle is cool though :rasta:

     

    Strobed it too, but there wasn't really much to look at, since it never missed or made any variation in speed.

     

     

     

    Good stuff Raz, I'll be keeping an eye on mine.

  9. I cracked the soft socket head screws with vice grips first, to loosen them.

    I also drilled the rubbers and only run with 6 {1/2} of them. for last 25000km. I had them apart the other day and gave them another lite grease.so far all is going well. :2c:
