  1. My Calidfornia EV is detonating at high speed. It has taken a while to convince myself that this is actually what happens, but it is prominent on hot days, up hill and two up, above 140km/h. It seems to start after sustained speed of 5 to 10 minutes. you hear a mechanical noise, not like the normal ping, but something more like a hammering sound. After it starts, more power just give more noise, not much more speed.

We can get only 93 and 95 perol. Strangely, 93 or 95, it does not seem to make a difference. We are 1600m above sea level, and it is rather hot about 30 Celcius.

I am after the easiest changes first, like spark plugs, ignition etc, but I am not sure what can be adjusted on the EV.

    Any ideas?

I stopped my detonation by Cliff's My15,LC1,WB02 sensor.no more ping. While I was there,K&N+straight through X-over.Sweet as.Heaps more torque. :food:

  2. The Guzzi service manual says the adjuster in the center of the top cap is compression damping, and the one at the bottom of the slider is for rebound. The Ohlins manual says the opposite. My own adjust and push experiment tells me the Ohlins manual is correct. Any of you know for sure?

    Hi Greg.Ohlins manual is correct.

  3. ?? What are you expecting to see ??

How big the crossover holes are.

As BFG suggested, there's nothing on the inside of the Stucchi that can't be seen from the outside, other than carbon black. :huh2:

    I havn't seen one in the flesh yet, so I have'nt a clue.Anyone got a :pic:

  4. Yes, meant this, worn out in a strange way. And for this big washer, I wondered whether all the edges are well rounded or if you can see burrs or sharp edges? I'd expect so called Coin Edges.

Does'nt seem to be.It realy looks in good condision.

  5. You mean the clutch lever pulled in – or the clutch in, as in engaged, (and lever out) at idle?

It's noisiest with clutch engaged - lever out. Do you equate this noise with damaging action, or do you mean something else? Noise continues at higher revs, though appears worse at low idle speed.

Clutch lever in, clutch disengaged, cuts the noise – which gives the impression of being less damaging and for that reason I sometimes sit with lever pulled in, when at idle. You think that is wrong?

I do that all the time,Does'nt seem to matter with the new one. :stupid:

  6. How do the edges of this washer look? Are both sides equal, or is one sharp and one rounded?

And your splines are really strange, at least those on the picture!

    Hubert

    The washer is perfect, just a bit discoloured from rusty bolts.Not sure what you mean by strange, but that is everything that came out of the bike.{Strange as in worn out}

  7. Mark, was there a big metal washer under all bolts, or one for each bolt? bolts were still real tight, or a bit loose?

Sorry Paul it has a big metal washer under all bolts, on further investergation don't even remember taking it out. :homer:

you can see big metal washer on flywheel.

  8. Mark, are those output splines as sharp as they look? They appear much more worn than just 24000 Km's worth.

Glad you caught this before it went!

    Yes jrt,

They are very sharp.I have another :pic: I will try to get on here at some time later.I ground the riverts out and welded a length of steel to it so I could use it as a tool to hold the other half of the output spline, Thats when I cut my finger, Blood pissing everywhere.

  9. Mark, was there a big metal washer under all bolts, or one for each bolt? bolts were still real tight, or a bit loose?

    Hi Paul.

Bolts were still tight, can't remember about the washer, I know it was'nt one big one but I'll have a look when I get home, It's still on show on the work bench. :huh2:

  10. I will reread the postings but I remember to have read in German forums that Guzzi actually replaces these clutches under warranty. They give people not another RAM thingy but instead one of the standard two diskers.

They also replace the broken Sachs shocks. This is fact at least in Germany.

    Hubert

It looks as if the crack is the result of a casting flaw. Do you have a closer picture of the area where the crack begins, near the bolt holes?

    Hubert

Yes Hubert, you can see the cracks starting around all the holes.
