  2. Dan or anyone else who's interested.

I had a huge clean out of my workshop yesterday and among the assorted munt I found a couple of sloppage sheets. As I said, I've got another batch on order but if anyone wants one NOW i can supply.

    Pete

I'll take 1 Pete.Just need your phone number 4 credit card reasons. If thats ok.

  3. After re-installing Tipover valve as it was supposed to be (mine was installed upside down according to Guzzi workshop manual) I was able to take the bike for a short ride this past Thursday (Thanksgiving day).

The result - I am expteremely pissed. This f*ing valve is still messed up and tank suction is still present. I will be removing that piece of junk completely unless someone can recommend an aftermarket alternative. If anyone removed it then I would appreciate if you can tell me what kind of connector did you use to connect two sides of the hose? I know someone mentioned cooper tubing but will it be Ok? What diameter should I use?

Unfortunately that was not the biggest problem. The biggest problem is some kind of clutter noise. Its actually sounds as a valve noise. It presents itself loudly when I get on the gas. When I roll on the throttle I can hear this noise really loud but when I let the throttle go it comes down. The bike behaved well and the ride was nice but this noise is puzzling me. My bike only has about 2600 miles and I only rode it 3-4 times this year (just got it registered last month).

So any suggestion from Guzzi experts would be nice.

Also since Guzzi is not the most popular bike I would love to hear suggestions for a local dealer in New York City or vicinity (relatively speaking).

I know of 2 relatively close dealers. One is Gold Coast but I don't think I can trust them since they are too new and actually just got signed up with MG. I really doubt they will have any clue about it. While back I called them for Tenni parts (was going to buy a damaged one and they didn't even know what it was :homer: ). The other one is Rockwell Cycles. They have good reputation but specialize more in Ducs.

So any suggestion and/or dealer recommendations would be nice.

    It's not a ping noise is it{I hope}.

  4. quote name='Kevin H' post='133525' date='Nov 23 2007, 06:27 PM']Is any part of Australia equatorial? ^_^

What I was referring to, Mark, is your warm season, when most people prefer to ride more. I ride year-round. The Average January Temp map for AUS in my Hammond World Atlas shows 20-30 C for Kempsey, NSW, while the Avg July Temp is 10-20. The interior of NSW appears to get down to 0-10 C avg in July. Mild, compared to here.

    Bust a move...

Equatorial? Just below the equator,if thats wot you mean.It should have that on your Hammond Atlas

Yes Kevin. In this area it's never to cold,{to ride},but sometimes it's to hot,so you just get out of bed earlier.Realy just a good mix of both.DSCF0895.JPG

  5. Thanks, Mark. I corresponded with Cliff. I'm not prepared to buy the replacement ECU in order to use the Optimizer. It runs well into the $hundreds. I do appreciate the lead, though. Maybe I'll go for it later.

No worries mate,When you do get one u wont be sorry, cause there isn't much it can't do if u get the full monty.Much more than anything I've seen.

  6. That's a substantial difference. I'm glad to hear that. In my opinion, the ECU should have the most consistent reading of cylinder temperature possible and any problems with mixture should be dealt with in the mapping. How did you measure the temperature?

I have the brass insert as well, with copper anti seize paste inside. The brass insert I received had several machined grooves in it. It looked like it was intended to increase heat transfer to the air. Since that is exactly the opposite of my plan, I first wrapped it with aluminum foil tape. It's the kind used on flue pipe ducting for furnaces. Pretty neat stuff, and it looks good, too.

Yes, mine has the grooves in it also, they are little fin's, I would not cover them up,Ask Pete R why as he will explain better than I can.

I can read my temp through Cliff's optimiser @ any time I like, you can check everything on that unit.Worth it's weight in gold. I run closed loop so it did'nt realy make a difference when I changed to the new brass unit.

  7. Yeah thanks Kevin

I lived in Oak Creek Canyon for nine months, sadly without a bike, but rather with the great red shark Chevy Impala. That was in '81, so guess things would have jammed up since then. Pity it would be a horn of a bike road.

I will work through the options since reading these posts. Defintely trying a full set of GEI relays, valve clearance and TB tuning

Don't you take that bike up to v-twins.

  8.

    Thanks guys,

Sidestand switch had been bypassed for part of the trip and made no difference.

Valve clearance was reset prior to heading off on trip with a slightly open setting, not too tight, but certainly worth a check again of course.

You don't feel that it has anything to do with fuel injection, do you?

Does the starter motor and fuel pump run off the same relay?

BTW Kevin do you live anywhere near Sedona, as I spent quite some time there and know the area albeit a few years ago.

Hay Morris, I never thought of valves,They most probably set them to 2&4 thou like they were last time.Try them @ 6&8 or 8&10 .Com on don't be a girl.

Has anyone fitted one of Jefferies' My15M ECUs? If so, what is the verdict, please? Positives and negatives, please.

    Richard

I got one .Have been running closed loop for 12 months now, trouble free.takes a while to get your head around it if yu a dumb barstard like me.But in the end it's basic sh#t.Best money I've spent on this bike yet.It use to ping it's arse off before, and when I stuck on Cliff's little baby I can get hold of any shitty old fuel, and it will not ping at all.Best thing is you can do any Mod you like and just tune it while your ridding. Two words,GET ONE.
