  1. I just finished loading my '01 V11 with the stuff. Did a quick 7 mile run into town for gas and dang, I think it is shifting smoother. Tomorrow's run to Boston and back will give me a chance to wring it out. dhansen.
  2. Photo taken on Spruce Head Island, Maine. This bike spent its first 2 years running around San Francisco. Something like from sea to shining sea....................
  3. Hi Ray. Yes, I was lucky, the bike just needed the cobwebs blown out. I've been meeting a few of the MEME folk along the way and look forward to catching up with you. Take care. Dennis.
  4. Just wondering if any New England V11 Guzzisti were planning on attending the Lars Anderson European Motorcycle Meet this Sunday in Brookline (Boston) MA. If all goes well I'm coming down with a mixed group (Maine European Motorcycle Enthusiasts) from Maine. Hope to see you there. Dennis in Maine.
  5. Snip....... My 2 quarts arrived today from Summit. Yup, free shipping but a $9.99 handling fee. The good news is the enclosed invoice offers a $10.00 discount on my next order.............. Can't help but wonder if that means they will charge handling AND shipping on that order!
  6. I don't mind the $7.99 a quart as much as the $9.99 to ship them to me!
  7. Hehe. Amusing, in a mindless way............... http://www.vissor.com/interactive/assets/slut.swf
  8. Yeah, but you have to register them and go through a three day waiting period for a background check.
  9. Sorry......... Here today, gone tomorrow. Lost in the continuous flow of Japanese speed. I'm sure it is a technical marvel but to me it has no soul. YMMV. Makes the world go round!
  10. Interesting background on stingray wounds. http://www.nswseakayaker.asn.au/mag/47/stingrays.html
  11. I've heard of people getting barbed in the leg, hand and arm but never run through like a stuck pig. Must have been one huge ray to do that.
  12. As seen today, Sept 3rd, att he Owls Head Transportaton Museum's annual Motorcycle Meet. Sure sounded sweet.
  13. I don't know Nog. I consider myself a responsible citizen of the USA and I don't see any problem owning military or military style small arms. I think there are many of us in this country who stop short of the stand that Ratchet takes but still argue that anyone sane and honest should be able to own any kind of firearm they choose. (Actually I think thats all Ratchet is saying anyway when you cut out all the hype). Where do you draw the line? A single shot .22 target rifle can kill you just as dead as an AK-47, M16 or Browning Automatic Rifle. In fact, I'd almost fear the well trained and practiced shooter with a .22 more than some yahoo wildly firing the AK or some other high powered military weapon! I grew up on a farm in the country where we always considered our rifles, shotguns and even handguns to be tools and developed an interest in them that isn't much different from my interest in motorcycles. It hurts me to see the horrific way in which guns are misused in our society and I do argee we need to do more to control the criminal use of firearms. But, I'm not ready, as a law abiding citizen, to give any of mine up. Dennis in Maine.
  14. Just thought I'd add a footnote to this story which began back in June. Finally got the papers and registered the beastie. Some Techron in the fuel helped smooth things out a little and with another set of new plugs I'm off and running. Once I was confident it would run without a bunch of grief I gave her a nice bath. Looks like brand new again. Turns out the bike is a 2001 and has only been ridden 183 miles in the past 2-1/2 years for total of just over 8,000. I've been out the past two evenings and put on another 125. It is running better each time out. So, the old KISS theory (Keep It Simple Stupid) seems to have proven true again as far as the "problems" the bike was having. Nothing that a few hours riding won't cure. Eventually I'll give it a full tuneup but for now I'm just gonna ride. Lets see if Ratch and dlaing can argue about that! Thanks to all for the encouragement, Dennis in Maine.
  15. I think HD caught on and upped their prices. I paid about $11 or $12 each for mine. I do like the looks of the Triumph units and the fact that they appear to bolt right on as the MG originals do is a big plus. Ironic that the Italian lights take more "fettle" (fettling?) to mount than those from Triumph.
  16. Not sure if Billy Bob has the same mounts up front as my '01 V11, but it looks as though I'd have the same issues using the Aprilia lights as with those from Buell. That is, having to drill (or tap as someone mentioned) the hole in the turn signal extension bracket to accept the larger diameter threaded stem of the Buell turn signal and then work up a nut to fit inside the extension to secure it. It almost looks as though the stem on that Aprilia light might be smaller than Buell's. Definitely looks good.
  17. Damn g.forrest, how do you expect anyone to read your posts with that avatar? I had to reread it about 5 times before I got all the way through!
  18. I was going through some files tonight and found this picture. And, unlike the photo of the guy with the 20 bare-assed-nakid chicks with guns, this is really me.
