  1. My new spring just cam from Cannon Racecraft / Bonnie. THis sucker is small. From all the photos I has seen prior I thought it to be like 4-1/2" long. This thing is only 2-1/2" Is this the correct spring?
  2. IF you done most of your riding at a speed say greater than.... 95mph, then I agree with replacing the tire. A tire generally has less than 40lb of air, so the thing is never going to explode should it fail. Bottom line, the correct answer about replacement is relative to: how soon you were going to replace it due to wear; your riding speed tendencies; the depth of you wallet; and how big the hole is. It's your call... but with a small hole and normal riding it will not fail if properly plugged.
  3. Just the oposite here in the US. I dare say there is less than 4 used Griso's for sale in the entire country. Of course, there has probably been less than 30 new one sold here.
  4. HELP: Where can I get a Chin Fairing for my LeMans? Are there any in the US at all? Who has the best prices? Anyone have experience painting the valve covers on a V11 ? Would this require High Heat paint? Who's tried this? WHere can I get new lids/caps for my brake & clutch fluid reservoirs? Colored alunimum possibly. Who makes the seat with the tri-color (Italian flag colors) stipes on the sides? Where can one be had?

Not true. Cornelius (near Lake Norman) has a Guzzi Dealership now, as well as Union Cycle east of Charlotte.

NOt much to choose from. If not Asheville, then you may need to consider Georgia. Alanta is not far from Asheville. Not sure whats in Eastern Tennessee.
  7. Let's hear some of your thoughts on the Griso.
  8. The valve stem is nothing more than a plug... but we never worry about those huh? Pull the nail, plug it and ride! I once pulled a large U staple (like your grandfather used on barbwire fences) out of my rear tire on a ZX12r. Plugged it and rode for a couple thousand miles afterward without problem or leaks. Plug the sucker, and ride!
  9. Man what timing.... just today I decided to offically keep my LeMans, & put it on the road this coming Friday. I've had it since October, ridden it 600 miles, but never registered it & legally tagged it. I also ordered the new spring today. This evening late I took it out for a 20 mile loop. While riding, thinking "you know, it may never break" and also looking forward to leagally riding it this weekend. Now I get this reality check when I return and log on. Sorry it happened to you!
  10. ohh such knowledge can be found here amoungst my friends! It is greatly appreciated. I was doing it more for looks than for performance (until I realized it to be a 3 piece set-up, not one solid piece). I just scrapped this idea. Thanks agin for the knowledge.
  11. I am referring to the crossover in front of the engine, not the crossover underneath the rear of the engine.
  12. Where could I find a 2003 (& newer) cross header pipe for my 2002 V11 ? I wish to update my currently unconnected pipes as from the factory for 2002. Will accept a new one, or used!
  13. Thanks for the info. I had thought about photographing prior to disassembly. I may tackle the swap-out next week when my new spring arrives. I will rarely ride this bike farther than 90 miles from home, so I could wait until it breaks. Before I bought the 02 Lemans, I had heard about tranny problems with 2000 model Sports, etc... I guess it fair to say that all V11 transmissions from 2000 to 2002 are suspect? Even on Guzzi cruisers?
  14. Thanks for the opinions guys. I'm mechanically inclined when I want to be. In fact, I just changed-out 4 coil springs, 2 struts, 2 shocks, and caster camber plates on the wife GT Mustang. My concern for the GUZZI tannny job was the alignment (locations of the gears and internals) when reassembling. OK, I've speed read many of the OLD posting concerning ordering replacment parts (new stronger spring & 15mm post).... WHAT"S THE LATEST on WHO CAN NOW supply these parts? (and their phone #'s) UPDATE: I just called Cannon (Bonnie) and ordered a new spring. NOW, Who can supply the correct Rachet arm with the 15mm pawl? (and how much $).
  15. Yea.. that's the only reason, as I love the bike otherwise. I called the best Guzzi Mechanic in this area of the state to inquire about replacing it. He basically told me not to spend the money, just ride the sucker until it breaks. Regardless of this... if a knowledgable mechanic was close by, I would take it now and get it changed out. This guy however is 60 miles away plus on the opposite side of Charlotte, so a REAL hassle to get to.
  16. If anyone is interested in owning this classic beauty, just let me know. I have too many bikes so something needs a new home. Asking $6375 Offers considered.
  17. I've flip flopped like 5 times now in the past two months about selling my 02 LeMans with 4500 miles. My primary concern and reason for selling it now is the possible breakage of the gear return spring in the transmission and/plus the nearest Guzzi mechanic is about 60 miles away. The mfg date of my bike was in 2001 so it is not one of the later 2002's that had the redesign. I would like to hear from experienced long time Guzzi folks... your best guess as to if & when my return spring will break. Thanks in advance for your opinions.... Confussed Crooz
  18. Now that I have completed my engine refinishing I felt the need to share my experience. I scraped the block of my engine clean first with a putty knife, then a small flat screwdriver for the hard to get places, then an ice pick for the corners and cracks. As I removed the wrinkle paint I noticed that the black block finish was remaining on the engine. I then started using a dremmel tool and tiny brush, only to find this process non useful. I then got my drill and a larger wire brush. I only glased the surface never hitting any location long enought to damage the black paint underneath. I only spend around 2 hours removing the old bubbling finish. Once I completed the portion of the process, the engine actually looked better than it did before starting the process, as the block retained the black undercoat. I then took and air hose and blew all the debris from the engine & it's cracks. The next day I spend approx 1 hour tapeing the engine with masking tape. The next day I sprayed then block with like 6 coats of the Texture Paint, each approx 10 minutes apart. In total I probably used 3/5ths of the can. Finally the next day I removed the tape and replaced the exhaust header pipes. Is the job perfect? No... but it's a far cry better than the factory finish, and from 4 ft away it looks great. I'm pleased with the final product. Total cost for 1 can of paint and masking tape... $23.00 Total time invested was approx 5 hours. Finished product... PRICELESS !
  19. BTW... I have noted that some users in here prefer the HD Texture Black... Now that I have completed my refinishing job... in my humble opinion, this texture paint is barely more than flat black. I beleive my future choice would be the Wrinkle Black.
  20. I would be careful spending the time and money to ship this stuff a long way. New cans of it are prone to not spray (defective). I have to take a couple back before I got one that sprayed properly. The dealer knew the problem before I mentioned it as I brought it out of the bag upon return. Must be very common... especially for the Wrinkle paint.

  22. OK, here's the deal. I have now gathered the tools and set down beside my 2002 LeMans twice in the past week to start the process of removing all the engine finish bubbles, only to back out each time. I am concerned that anything less than total coating removal will result in an apearance that's really worse that what I now have. I don't plan of removing engine/motorcycle parts in oder to remove the factory coating thats bubbled. Then I planned on using the Harley wrinkle finish paint to recoat where the bubbles were removed. I realize there are several options for this sort of job, however I only planned on using scrapers and wire brushes and wasn't considering a TOTAL coating removal. Bottom line... I need the opinions from those of you that have attemped improving your engine fisish. Which is going to look the best: 1) Leave it as is (with only 2 or 3 blister flaked). 2) Remove every blister possible with scraper & wire brush, and leave the black finish underneath showing, no respraying. 3) Remove every blister possible with scraper & wire brush and then respray with the harley finish where needed. 4) Remove every blister possible with scraper & wire brush and then respray ENTIRE engine area, even though the coating is not removed from non blistered areas. Thanks in advance for your opinions.
  23. Actually they have had this bike a long long time. I viewed it back in September while there. They have increased the price since then.
