  1. Hrmm, that would be interesting.... if someone found/made an adapter such that Cliff's ECU could be just plugged-in to a V11 Sport harness, then I'd be more willing to give it a try. But again, I wonder who out here could economically make a map for the V11 Sport... since no one has experience with the software, etc.. al

  3. Thanks Carl, but I think that might be tricky to get a map going from scratch?? I don't think anyone around here would have the experience to map it from scratch, and although I've talked to Cliff about the possibilities of using his ECU... he only supposed it "should" be able to hook up to the harness with some modifications since it uses a differenct connector. But that seems kinda scary to me... al
  4. So, as mentioned in an earlier post, I got the bike back a few days back, and it is running better. But it still idles slow and sometimes dies at redlights, especially after a "high speed" run. It also misses about every 45 seconds while idling after getting good and warm. So I dunno... I'll ride it for a while as suggested by the shop to loosen the engine up some more, then we'll take it from there. I may bump the idle a bit as well. In the meantime, I've got family in town visiting so I won't be doing anything major to the bike for the dual-plugging project. Nor do I want to embark on that before any long trips this Summer. ...don't want to introduce any new variable. But I did mail my PCIII off to Dynojet to verify that I have the correct and current firmware release, and for just a general checkup before I have it custom mapped. This may also alleviate some of my problems. We'll see. Anyway, I suspect that later in the summer, maybe July-ish, I'll dive into getting the correct coils and track down a shop that can do the timing remap. I confirmed with Todd Eagan from Guzzitech.com that Dynojet isn't working on a PCIIIr, which can adjust timing, for the Guzzi any time in the near future. There just isn't any demand apparently. ...keep ya posted. al

  7. ...yeah, I'd go with Rich's suggestion of hanging it from the rafters, but unfortunately my 60 year-old garage would cave in! I've got the Guzzi shop/paddock-stand, and it's OK, but not so good if I ever want to take off any major bits... at least in my opinion. We'll see. I may get the lift later anyway and experiment. My neighbor said I'm welcome to borrow it any time to test the "fit". I'll let you know how it goes if I do. al

Several people have posted on the ST Forum how well they wear in comparison to the Pilots, but seem to grip just about as well. How would you describe their "feel" Rich? al
  9. The 010 is stickier... and the 020 has longer mileage. A lot of folks have tried this combo as a good compromise between wear and traction. al

Someone on the Forum had asked about this rear fender quite a while back, and another owner had reported that they were disappointed in the fit/finish and general quality of the CF rear fender. Plus they said it didn't really follow the lines of the swing-arm, or something like that. Anyway, any other opinions from those that actually have the unit? I've never seen any good clear photos of the CF fender installed, so perhaps that might help those that are interested if someone could post a photo or two. It's pretty pricey, so I'm sure they'd like to get a better idea of how it looks installed But, I've said it before, and I'll say it again.... I think it's pretty funny that here we are with an OEM hugger, that the rest of the motorcycle world is always scrambling to try to make available as an aftermarket item, and we're taking them off! I think the OEM black-plastic unit is actually pretty nice Could it be nicer? Sure... but it's not too bad al
  12. I've heard that a lot of people like the combination you currently have. I've also heard some really good things about the new Michelin Pilot Street ST tire. It's supposed to be almost as sticky as the Pilot Sport, but quite a bit higher mileage. You might check those out?? al

  14. So, Orchard Supply(a local hardware store) has this great new ATV/Motorcycle/Snowmobile lift for a measly $120 that I saw a friend using on his new Harley the other day. The thing is built really well by Craftsman, and makes tinkering on the bike really easy. You just slide it under the bike and it has two padded arms that hydraulically lift it from underneath. It's very stable, and has adjustments for leveling, etc... anyway, quite nice, and what a deal... and I figure, hey if he'll put his $20,000 bike on it without worry, it should be safe Now here's my question, on the V11 Sport/LeMans, is the engine(oil pan specifically) strong enough to lift the bike? On my buddy's HD, it has two frame rails that are taking the weight of the bike. Of course with the V11 Sport, it would have to be lifted with the lift under the engine, lifting it by the pan. Is this OK.... or not? Just wanted to check before I went out and bought the lift. I don't want to crack a case =) thx! al
  15. ...just curious. I got my bike back from the shop, and although the "hot stall" issue still happens, it is better. But as I sit at idle, it will hiccup a bit about every 45 seconds, and it just seems a bit laboured, like it's turning a bit too slow. And occasionally it will die. I talked with Mike Rich(who did the heads) and he said he just had this same issue with a fella's Scura, and first-and-formost after getting the TBs synched, he said that he's found that the new V11 Sports/LeMans need to have their idle at about 1200-1300 RPM because the crank and flywheel are lighter than the older bikes, and apparenlty some of the cruisers. So if you are idling too low(my Tach indicates 1000-1100 RPM) you will get stumbling and an occasional burp because of the lack of inertia... which of course is exactly what I am seeing. In the end though, after tuning the TBs, air-mixture, etc... he finally got rid of all surging, etc by putting a PCIII on the guy's Scura. I'm in the process now of finding the most recommended certified Dyno Tuning Center around San Jose, but I want to get the bike running as well as possible before overlaying the PCIII. So first, what does your bike idle at? thx al P.S. BTW, I realize that our OEM tach is not the most accurate instrument in the world But I'm just trying to get a general feel, plus without my PCIII currently installed, there isn't any other way for me to gauge my RPM any more accurately anyway

It seems like on many other bikes out there, people are snapping up aftermarket huggers for their bikes that don't have them as delivered from the manufacturer, yet here we are talking about how to get rid of ours! Funny Just kinda ironic I think the MG hugger is actually not too bad looking, but I think I'm going to look at making a shield to augment the fender like Lex did to keep water out of the transmission breather. al

I personally like the look sans x-over, so if it's negligible, or if it can be approximated with other mods. I'd stay with the '00-'02 headers.   22. Whoa-kay.... round.... err... oh shoot, I dunno. Anyway, I just got off the phone with the shop. Poor guys, they are really trying So MGNA finally called them back after hounding them for TWO DAYS. Geez, MG needs to get their service and dealer-support in gear, but that's another story. Well, the suggestion they were given... by a source I am not currently allowed to reveal because it is so far absolutely unofficial... and was given by a unknown service lead, from an unmentioned North American subsidiary of a small motorcycle company... *whew* ....you're kidding me Gee, I think it was in another thread that I asked, no begged, that someone from Guzzi read this forum as I'm pretty sure we had pinpointed some of the problems already. Just take our cue! So it was also completely unofficially confirmed from said non-entity that this is why the pump went into the tank for 2003. The engine cooks the pump, the supply line, and with the fairing on the LeMans, it was getting overheated. This was causing the "vapor-lock" we've seen, and also is suspected of causing problems like mine where coming off of a "hot" run to a stop and attempting to idle, there wasn't enough fuel pressure. And of course the tip-over valve and 0-ring caused the "tank suck". No shit? ...really? huh They should let me fix these bikes. I could have told them this, what a year ago?! As mentioned in my FAQ, I think this is also why some interim 2002 bikes had their fuel pumps moved out in front of the engine on some LeMans before the in-tank pump showed up for 2003. This may be why some 2002 LeMans owners never have had this issue. Maybe I should mail them the FAQ, with the date created So, my shop is going to wrap the pump and supply-line in reflective(attractive I'm sure) heat shielding and we'll see what happens. Since I had already done the "tip over valve mod" , that's already covered. We'll see if this fixes the problem tomorrow when I take it for a test-ride. I'll let you know.   23. ...no really, you're scaring me Seriously, I don't mind leaning over into a curve... in fact that's great, but I'm just not confident/skilled enough to push this thing over far enough to scrape bits ....I'm sure however, that others are confident and skilled enough. I just keep imagining a little bitty bunch of dirt/gravel/tar-snakes ... slide... kapow!

  25. ...another thing to note it that, at least from the photo above, it appears that crossover tube on the aftermarket version is larger than the OEM. Although someone with a 2003 actually in their garage may want to double-check and confirm, I believe that the OEM x-over tube is a much small cross-section/diameter than the main header pipes. I'm not sure if this was intentional in regard to performance, clearances, or what. So if the Agostini x-over is a larger diameter, it may produce different results. A dyno is the only way to know I would suspect BTW, I'm very curious to see the FBF x-over when done, and a comparison between it and that Stucci on the same bike on a Dyno. Victor, do you have any idea when we might see some pics and that data? al
